I recently had a very disappointing experience at Alberta Honda while purchasing a 2025 Honda CR-V. I had placed a deposit and was scheduled to pick up the vehicle, with two cosmetic trim pieces I had purchased from their parts department and arranged to have installed beforehand. On pickup day, I was told the simple installation wasn't done and if I wanted it done it would now cost me 3 shop hours! This was incredibly frustrating as I had already booked a PPF appointment for the following two days and was preparing for a road trip that weekend. The salesman actually suggested using a loaner vehicle as a practical solution to stay on schedule but when management got involved, specifically Warren Evans (New Car Manager), things got shockingly unprofessional. He was dismissive, raised his voice, spoke to me in a rude and condescending tone, and showed no willingness to work toward a resolution. I decided at that point not to go through with the purchase with him being 100% of the reason why. The salesman and finance manager were actually nice and helpful and you could tell they were trying to make things right. However Warren needs to taught manners and basic customer service skills. I can't believe someone this emotionally unintelligent was allowed to become manager. This was by far the most unprofessional experience I've had at a dealership. Decided to look at a used 2023 Ridgeline, decided against it and went new. Decided on a trim and put $4000 cash down. They didn't have it in stock, was told they would trade with another Dealership and should have in a couple days. Received call 2 days later and was told it would be a couple weeks before it would arrive. I hesitantly agreed to wait. After 10 days passed I decided to cancel the truck and get my $4000 back. Was told they didn't carry that kind of cash and they would have a cheque issued and have it brought in from some of establishment they do their banking with. Thanks to Danielle, we had a very positive experience with the service department. It was totally appreciated when Danielle called to let us know how our car was progressing the first day, plus other things that needed to be done for the big services. Our Accord is 10 years old, plus approaching 200,000 km, and because we are keeping it for a few years, we are confident that the work done will keep our car running in tip top form. Danielle made sure we got the best price they could give on the work, called the second day to update us, and went over the work order in detail. When she told us that there was a year warranty or 20,000 km, on the work done, we were impressed. Alberta Honda made sure we got a loaner vehicle as well. Honda Owners Beware! Took my 97' Honda CRV for a recall a few months ago. At the same time, I had asked if they can replace the air filter which I bought at the dealership while my car is being serviced. The sales associate told me within his fast rant that it will be $25 for that service. I may not know much about cars but it is a fairly simple switch. When I told him that, he then recanted and said well we will do it once for free. First red flag. At the end of the conversation, he tells me that he will call me around the end of the day, that not to worry "we won't forget about you". He did call me about an hour before closing telling me that they found a quite a few problems and its better to be discussed in person. Tactic - make the owner worry, call them near closing to have the person feel pressured and make rash decisions. I told him that it isn't a problem and I'd rather come tomorrow when there is more time. Sounding surprise he tried to tell me when to come in then he stopped himself and said I can come in anytime. Of course, I come when it is convenient to my schedule to pick up my car. Came in the next day, he took me aside, got a bunch of papers that showed me a long list of servicing I needed for my car. I asked about pricing for each problem that was listed. He could not do that rather he punched in a bunch of numbers in his calculator and came up with a price over $3000! Tactic - an individual who has an older car, appears to know nothing about cars - let's see if she is willing to pay this ridiculous amount for a '97 CRV or will I get her to think about buying a new car. How much can I rip her off?? I told him I had to think about it and talk it over with my husband. He did not give me the list he made up with all the problems for my car. He gave me invoice for the recall servicing and that was that. The only good thing about this experience is I found the best auto repair shop in the city now (fair, honest and reliable). Recalling from memory of what was needed to be repaired from Honda was not of concerned according to the other auto repair shop. I will never go back 97st Honda Dealership even for recalls. This location has previously had great service overall, however the hood release cable was broken while it was in the shop being working on, then the shop manager tried to weasel out of fixing it when we returned to discuss the problem. There were also fasteners missing from the front grill and hose clamps not placed properly after the vehicle was picked up. Shame on me for not checking the vehicle over more thoroughly before picking it up and paying the bill I guess. read more

If my review is too long to read, just read this: don't go here. I have faith there are less scummy dealerships in the world than this one. The only good thing: I got the price I wanted, after MUCH back and forth. The bad: 1. they would not allow me to make a large cash down payment on my vehicle. When I ended up putting down $5000 (the most they would allow), the financial guy (Tony) then tried to talk me out of that and encourage me to go with the 0$ down payment option. I did not budge but he sure tried. 2.they were STRONGLY discouraging me from paying my vehicle off quickly, Tony even asked me to "promise" to not pay it off for 6 months because that would look better for him. 3.I was planning to get financing for the vehicle through my bank (CIBC) because I had previously contacted many banks and asked about interest rates and they had the most competitive one (4.44%). When I told this to my salesman (Justin), he acted like this was a weird decision and talked me out of getting the loan through my bank. He said that their financial team (Tony) would check many different banks and get me the best interest rate. When I went to Tony, he picked RBC for me, with a rate of 5.97%. When I asked about CIBC, he said they don't work with them. 4.The individuals I spoke with talked down to me. I thought they would be personable, as you can expect out of salesmen, but I felt they were trying to belittle me, intimidate me, and tell me how I should handle my own finances. I am female and it felt like they were "mansplaining" to me about my finances, even though I didn't ask them and had thoroughly researched and done my homework prior. 5.They agreed I could come back for a free detailing of my car because they didn't get the chance to do it before I left. I got a loaner car while they did the detailing. The loaner car was GROSS, it didn't feel like it had been cleaned between customers which is especially bad during COVID. There was a USED disposable mask still in the middle console. 6.It felt as though they were not serious about masking, as I saw many staff with masks under the nose and our financial manager had his off in his office directly prior to meeting with me in there. Droplets could still be in the air, in case you didn't know. Thankfully, through my own financial advisor, I was able to pay off the BAD loan deal they arranged for me, and entered into one with a much lower interest rate at the bank of my choosing (which was what I originally wanted to do but was pressured not to do). I will never go back there for service or any reason and I have learned valuable lessons I will take with me the next time I need to purchase a car. read more

Alberta Honda caused cosmetic damage to the dash of my Honda Civic when my car was in for the third time since 2015 for yet another Takata airbag replacement in October 2019 (this time the replacement of one of the previous replacements). My car is 15 years old, but I keep it in pristine condition so I noted the damage right away when I picked up the car and I went in and let the service department know. They told me that everyone in the department who could help had headed home. I sent an email to my service contact for that appointment when I got home that night. Over the next week I was in touch with her and she was trying to get the service manager or a manager to call me back. Eventually, I was able to connect with the Service Manager (I believe his name was Brian) who let me know that I would need to come in to have them look at it but that it had to be between 8-4 pm Monday to Friday. I came in and it was immediately clear they weren't going to do anything to help me or to acknowledge that they caused the damage. It was suggested to me that Certified Radio who installed my stereo 7(!) years ago caused the damage. He said that because I don't bring my car to the dealer for service, he doesn't know what has happened with it. It was also suggested to me that the auto shop that I frequented for over 15 years (where I last brought my car 4 months ago for a service appointment) caused the damage or that somehow I did it and just coincidentally noticed it the day my airbag was replaced. Brian then proceeded to take out his phone flashlight and look all over the inside of the vehicle and pointed out a spot on the inside(!) of my door jam that he said was scratched that I wasn't aware of. I was in utter disbelief. They basically implied that I was being dishonest rather than acknowledging that it happened during the course of the airbag replacement. If they had told me that my dash was too old to be replaced without risking other damage or that there were no options for repairing it, but at least acknowledged their mistake, it would have made a difference. In addition, they opened my hood and did a mechanical inspection that I did not request or authorize and called with a list of maintenance items that they said were required (even though we have been following the Honda maintenance schedule all along). I took it to my local shop to ensure all was well and they said the car was totally fine and needed nothing. This was 6 months ago and the car is still running great. The irony of this situation is that I love my Honda Civic and I am planning to replace it in the next couple of years. Another Civic or Fit were high on my list, but after the way I was treated at Alberta Honda, I will never buy another Honda. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I can't think of any other occasion where I have been treated as though I was being dishonest. If I need another airbag replacement or recall, I will ensure that I find a different dealer. read more

When I called and booked an appointment they said 2 hours. When I arrived they said 2 hours. Im currently sitting here after 4 hours I asked for an update they said they don't know maybe another hour and a half. Horrible service do not get anything done here. Maria (service manager) from Alberta Honda is the worst manager My husband and I have ever come in contact with. I will NEVER go to this dealership again to buy or service a Honda. I had a concern about a vehicle that was originally purchased from Alberta Honda and I left messages, emailed and I got no response. I even sent an email to the dealership manager and no response. I don't know what kind of establishment they are running over there but their customer service is seriously lacking and in a day and age where competition in the auto industry is at a premium. Maria argued with my husband defending her employee when she should have tried to resolve our concern. I've had dealings with Go Honda and they are prompt, professional and polite to deal with; they just got our business! Both my husband and I have a lot of connections in Edmonton, and we will be spreading the word. I went for oil change and it costed me about 2.5k. At that time My Odyssey was run under 35K KM. Will regret going there for oil change forever. Do NOT purchase EXTENDED WARRANTY and if you do make sure to read the fine print its all a scam! The Finance is just trying to make a sale and will say anything to get it! Yes it is probably my fault I should have known not to trust them. I was urged to get warranty on a car I told them I would not have for long, but they convinced me that I could cancel it at any time and now I am now out $1300! Also, when I went to trade in the car they sold me for an upgrade I was offered a trade in value of $14000 that is $8000 less than what I paid for it 1 year ago!!! That is insane! I just got my 2017 Honda Pilot back after getting the timing belt, water pump and serpentine belt changed. The job was completed in the time promised, and the bill was exactly as quoted. They may be a wee bit pricey (even with the special rate offered) but the service was, as usual, top notch and I was pleased once again to get my ride back washed on the outside. Yeah so I went in to trade in my 2011 dodge ram sport for a Honda civic. The salesman was okay, nice enough guy. My dodge ram is a 2011 ram sport loaded leather nav sunroof back up camera etc. I had already done the research and found that it should sell for between $16,000-$18,000. Since its a trade and needed $1750 to recondition it understand it will go for less, I would have gone for $12,000-$14,000 but the asshole manager named Troung comes back and offers me $6,000!!! Then does the usual well it needs new tires windshield etc. I caught him in his bullshit by explaining to him I had done my research and knew how much it would cost to recondition it and he immediately tried to backpaddle offering $9000 and saying that "that price is tough to reach and would affect the price of the civic you're buying". So he not only tried to rip me off for $8000 then says to my face that any deal he gives on trade he'll add to the civic. And the worst thing was his rude uncaring attitude. Hilariously after I walked out totally speechless, the salesman follows me out and tells me he thinks that most of the managers are greedy moron assholes and that he thinks he can talk to the general manager and get me $12,000 for the truck. Stay away from that place it's probably the worst experience I've ever had at a dealership, and I used work at various Go Auto dealerships and that was the third dealer of that day that i talked to. I purchased a 2022 Honda Passport in September of 2022. In November of 2022 I had it back for a defective Canister Vent Shut Valve issue. I explained to the service manager that I was going to the USA for three months and asked what would happen if I had issues in the USA. She reassured me that I should call her if we had an issue and she would look after it. It turns out the brake rotors warped while in the USA making the vehicle unsafe to drive. I took it to a Honda dealer in the USA and they confirmed that the rotors were warped and I had to pay $300.00US out of pocket to have them resurfaced. The mileage at the time was 10,600 miles which is well within the recommended inspection. I called Alberta Honda and they reneged on their promise to look after warranty issues while in the USA. I am extremely unhappy with their service which I will rate as poor. I will never deal with them again. read more

I'd love to leave a review on google but they've disabled it so I'll do it here. I had to bring my car in for a service due to an airbag recall. It went fine and they replaced the airbags. Service was good. Now what happened AFTER is where I have an issue. I gave them my number to call me when the car is ready for pickup and THATS IT. I did not ask to be bombarded with multiple phones calls every month about their promos and that my car "is due for a service". I have a mechanic if I need to get a service done thanks. Seriously I've revived MULTIPLE calls from them so I've blocked their number. Then I get a text message saying they have a promo so I reply with "STOP" to unsubscribe me. THEN THE SAME DAY I GET ANOTHER PHONE CALL FROM ALBERTA HONDA with a different number about how they have good deals. Overall I'm just very very angry that my number went from the service department due to a recall to the sales department and god knows where else. Stop calling me PLEASE. After nearly 25 years, sadly my advice now is: STAY AWAY FROM ALBERTA HONDA IF YOU VALUE HONEST SERVICE! Alberta Honda's repair shop has become shady, practicing a sneaky, , predatory disingenuous customer interactions. Alberta Honda now puts making money from customers above giving superior customer service. The attitude toward customers in Alberta Honda's Service Department has really changed in the past, I've had three unnecessarily expensive experiences in a row. I used to rely on the advice I received from Alberta Honda's Service people and technicians but have experienced a few times in a row, unfortunately, a new inventiveness for creating with large bills, . Once a person agrees to let them look under your hood, they leverage you shamelessly. I caught them quoting ridiculously high amount for a simple repair. When I called them on this I received a surly defensiveness. Their Service Manager, Maria, actually told me that it was up to their customer to know what services they did well and which they didn't. That it wasn't Alberta Honda's "responsibility" to advise their customers if there was a less expensive option. That perfectly illustrates ALberta HOnda's current approach to customer "relations" (no longer service). When I told them I wouldn't be using their services, they insisted that I pay them an "Inspection Fee" and worse, it was higher than what they quoted me because it included "SHOP FEES"!! CAVEAT EMPTOR Alberta Honda will not help you to an economical solution. It won't give you good advice about how best to deal with a problem with your Honda. Its Service Department will take you money even if it doesn't have the expertise for the problem your Honda is having. It will also hold your car hostage when you refuse their service once you catch them trying to overcharge you. A young (female) family member went to Alberta Honda for a very simple exhaust pipe solution, on my recommendation (to my shame). She was given a $1200+ quote. This despite the fact that the actual muffler had been replaced within the previous year by Kamloops Honda (a more reputable business). She had a simple rusted exhaust pipe problem. When three muffler shops in the vicinity all scoffed at the $1200+ quote and each offered her a free inspection and quote, we called Alberta Honda about this. The Service Department manager's defence was an indignant "Well, we're not a muffler shop". Of course, the "service Coordinator" conveniently omitted mentioning this when speaking to a young person with limited experience. The final insult was that Alberta Honda would not release the vehicle to go to the other shop until she paid a $90+ "Inspection Fee". This was originally quoted at $75 but mysteriously, when we told them we were taking our business elsewhere additional "shop fees and materials" were added to the bill. "Let The Buyer Beware" is clearly the business model and motto at Alberta Honda. Worse dealership ever, don't waste your time. They tried to sell me numerous items $3,000.00 worth that weren't necessary to be serviced, one of which was a huge recall. They never ran my vin number to see if any recall showed up. Instead they wanted me to pay for fixing the recall...unbelievable. I was never even contacted that a recall was ever needed. I took my car in for an electrical issue, paid to diagnose it, paid 1,000 to fix it, drove away and the issue immediately came back not more then 20 min down the road. Called to bring it back in, was told I had to pay for another "diagnosis fee" for them to look at my problem. Not sure why they gave me a solution, I paid to fix what they said was wrong and now I'm 1,000 in debit and back at square one. My charge was to fix a wire that corroded. My car is 2 years old and bought directly from their lot. How a wire is installed in a brand new high end expensive car and open to the elements where it can get corroded in a city that has snow 6 months out of the year is beyond me. read more

These guys are terribly organized and now it is causing major problems. The staff in the service department are excellent. Recently an employee notified me that the "accounting" department had made a major error on the payroll system. It turns out that the "accountant" "forgot" to deduct ANY taxes from the employees mid month advance. (Some employees are paid monthly) This employee was notified by the government, after doing taxes this year that they OWE $9000.00 DOLLARS! The company recognizes that there was a mistake made. Their fix? They say that they will pay the government the amount owing on behalf of the employee but....now get this!!! The employee HAS TO PAY THEM BACK IN INSTALLMENTS! This is not just one employee.....this is quite a few. If this is how mis managed they are with their own STAFF, the people that make their business run, imagine how little concern they have for their customers. I was in to Alberta Honda to get a recall done , I mentioned I was concerned with the cracking shifter piece that is around the shifter and was told its not warranty and its because of a air fresher which I have never had in my car . You won't be disappointed by this dealership.... ... if you set the bar low. VERY, VERY low. We were looking for a quick and straightforward transaction to purchase a 2012 Honda Pilot. Went here because they were the only Honda dealer open on a Sunday. The dealmaking process was reasonable, although the sales manager attempted to sneak back in the "administration fee" (total make-money fee) despite having negotiated it out originally. We relented, only after having an additional item thrown in to partially compensate. We were promised a vehicle within a week, as it had to be ordered in. On Monday, a call came in saying "your vehicle is in!". We were surprised and happy to hear this. I called back to get a VIN, and was told by the sales manager: "... couldn't find you a 2012 so we got you a 2013. Everything in the deal will be the same." When I inquired whether or not the financing would be the same, I was told no. That would have cost us several thousand dollars more had we gone for this, hardly the "same deal". Despite his attempts to convince us to take the 2013, I resisted. "Ok, we'll get you a 2012 in a couple days" was the answer. "Will call you tomorrow to confirm." Did not hear from the sales manager on Tuesday. By Wednesday, I called a couple times, leaving messages, finally heard back near the end of the day. Told that it would take 7-10d to get the car in from BC. I mentioned that I was a bit disappointed, and the communication about this had been poor. I pressed for assurance that some expediency was occurring to get us our vehicle. The next day I was given a VIN, and a promise that we would be given a call in a few days to update. Again, we received no "update" call. At the 10d mark I called the dealership. Could not reach the sales manager. Got our original sales person on the phone, and he said the manager would call us the next day. THREE days later we received a call from the sales manager. Now we were told it would take yet ANOTHER week, but we would definitely be able to pick it up, on the Saturday. It is now that Saturday, and I am sitting here after having called several times today and received no response from the manager despite promises he would call back. When he finally did, I was told, "I'll check to see if it was delivered, if it is, we'll get it PDI'd for you for sometime DURING week. Call you back in 10 minutes." Almost an hour and a half later - *I* called him back. Receptionist says he's left for the day. I am transfered to his cell. "Oh, it's been so busy, I'm just going out to the lot now to check; the computer says it is in but I want to physically find it in the lot". He lets me go then calls me back in 5 minutes. "Sorry, it's not here. I don't know when it is going to be in. I will call you back when we have more information." Arrrgh! I am at my wits end here. The delay in getting the vehicle is frustrating, but I get that it's "just a car" and at the end of the day I can put up with that (despite it being almost a month now). What I simply cannot stand, however, is the abhorrently poor communication and repeated promises that keep getting broken. Had we not already put down a deposit I would surely have cancelled this deal earlier. We have purchased a few other new vehicles before and have generally been cautious of the nature and reputation of dealerships to try to "take advantage" of you, if you're not careful. I was hoping that this time would be different, perhaps a bit more pleasant for a change. Sadly, Alberta Honda has done nothing to change my impression, and in fact been the worst new-car shopping experience my wife and I have experienced to date. We still have not received our vehicle. I will update this review once this finally occurs. I would like to think that they will "make it right" after this experience, but unfortunately I have a feeling that I am yet in store for more disappointment from Alberta Honda. read more

My 1999 Honda Civic needed service every 6000km, not 8000km as specified on the newer post-2001 models. The mechanics kept screwing up and were general confused as to what serviced my car needed. I went in for a Type 3 service last winter, which is the most expensive of the regular schedule maintenance. The service advisor asked me if I am willing to sell my car (it was in very good condition for a 12 yr old and had low mileage). I told him I am not looking to buy a new car yet. An hour into the service, he came back and told me that the water pump was leaking onto the timing belt and I needed to replace the whole thing. I had the timing belt replaced and water pump checked only a year before this. He also pointed out that the rear bushing is worn out and needs to be replaced, and that altogether is going to cost me $2000. He suggested that I sell the car and trade it in since the car is not worth the maintenance cost. Total bullshit. I had a friend whose dad is a Honda mechanic to take a look at the rear suspension later and he said it was fine. While I can't generalize about the staff at the dealership, the service advisor I had was dishonest and deceiving. I am never coming back here again. read more

Actually, you can judge by your self after reading my story. It's after a warmly welcome and a nice car drive this month of january 2013 that I stopped my choice on a CRV 2013. I negotiated the price with the sales man and I asked them financing my purchase for 72 months. I reached a deal with him for a specific biweekly amount and for down payment. 2 days later, I received a call from the sales telling me that my request was approved and asking me to come get up the Car. Although, the financial manager called me while i was driving and couldn't talk to him, so i called back several times and left several messages but no one never returned my calls. 5 minutes to the closing hours of the the night precedent my going day to get up the car, they called to rise the Biweekly amount of the Deal and asking for more money in Down-payment. Next day, when i tried to talk to the big boos at this dealer shop to understand what is going on, some one with a heavy foreigner English accent presented him self as the owner and was shouting on me trying to intimidate me and mocks me asking if i was not Canadian as i was asking him about all this mess. I felt insulted and asked him if that was the way how they are doing at Honda corporation and told him that I'm going to record the communication and send it to the Head office of Honda, witch made him mad and hang up the phone on me. As they were not apple to provide me with the deal i reached with their sales man, i asked them to give me back my Down-payment and they did. The only reason they get 2 stars is because the sales person we dealt with was nice and personable, and legitimately seemed to want to do right by us. Now that we have had the vehicle for over a year, we took it in to get scheduled maintanence, and all of a sudden extra costs are popping up that "were under warranty" when we originally signed. The stinger was that they threw in the Winter Tire Package as a closing deal, which included "LIFETIME" storage and seasonal changes for our tires, at no cost. Now, all of a sudden we have to start paying for the storage "because they are too packed and need to charge for this service". It seems like everytime we have to take the car in they have a new money maker that they have to add on. I have a very bad experience so I highly recommend not to take your car for service at this location. Before couple of months, I drop my car Honda CRV for service and after few hours I received a call from this location telling me you need to change your filters and we need to alignment to your wheels. They will scare you to the death by telling this could happen or that could happen to your car if you don't do it. So at that time I went ahead with whatever they suggested and I got a bill of $600.00. This morning I went again to this location for oil change and without checking they told me you need to change your filters. I was like how do you know without checking as I already change my filters before couple of months. His response was oh I didn't know that. This location wont see me anymore there. Alberta Honda botched repairs done to the locks on my 2008 Honda Fit - after replacing all of my locks the hatchback lock stopped working within a year. When I brought it to their attention, I was told that I have to bring my car in for a diagnosis at my expense ($80-$120/hr). They were unwilling to give me any assurances that I would have the botched repair job fixed for free - even if the diagnosis confirms that the repair was not done properly the first time.
