A true nightmare new car buying experience. I now own a complete lemon that's still under warranty,…read moreplus I'm $10,000 deep in legal bills. I factory-ordered a brand-new Santa Fe PHEV, which has a verified drivetrain vibration that Hyundai mechanics have acknowledged but cannot fix. As soon as I involved a lawyer, they backtracked and claimed this was a 'normal characteristic of the vehicle.' This doesn't even cover the two incidents where the vehicle endangered our lives: once when it completely shut down without warning while turning left in front of oncoming traffic, and another due to unintended acceleration--the second of which the dealer never documented. To make matters worse, I requested they store the vehicle in their back lot until the issues were resolved, only to be told I'd be charged $20 per day for storage. So now, I'm stuck making payments, paying insurance, accruing interest on an SUV that has been sitting unused in my garage for over eight months. One which I cannot sell. On top of that, I've had to purchase a second vehicle as a replacement. An ongoing nightmare. To anyone reading this: do yourself a favor and never buy a Hyundai. They do not honour their warranties or stand by their products, and their dealers are nothing short of crooks.

I have a hard time verifying which work was done or not, some visible items I can see they always do such as lubricating door hinges at every B service. but I don't know if everything claimed and paid for was actually completed. Seems like I walk away with very little inspection work. I just don't trust anymore. This is typical from most Auto shops, however, most don't claim that higher quality standard and all the multi-point inspections, also you don't pay as much for them. I would sooner just walk in and expect the bare bones oil change, rather than given false sense of security with multi-point inspections completed. If you ask for extra checks on certain parts, you may be charged for it, although you are already paying for the 'inspections' and 'road test' in the higher end service packages "B and Above".. I still have slightly higher trust in the quality of work for repair work, although I had to return for a re-work on some electrical, I have trusted their knowledge and expertise of their service manager and their senior tech's in the back. the friendly smile and great customer interaction is superb, the staff is great to deal with, and all walk around with smiles. Very happy place to visit, and I always enjoy my cup of coffee at their shop. So even though my trust on some quality of work has eroded in some aspects, they are always eager to have me come back - i just wish they didn't cost so much and I wasn't double paying for things that should have been inspected and captured in the inspections and ongoing maintenance. The only way that accountability would be driven home and the shop would ensure they inspected properly as claimed, would be if they took on the risk of repairing any damages due to missed preventative inspections and maintenance. I would love to see shops offering accepting that kind of risk, it's easy and a conflict of interest for a shop to tell you yah they did the inspection and charge you for it, but if they were accepting the risk and accountability with it, then they would make sure they do the job right when the promise so much. I would pay a lot more if I knew I was getting value and peace of mind, but right now it feels sometimes I am paying for nothing, and then I will be coming back to pay more for repairs. if you balance all things considered, Superb customer service, loaner cars, great coffee, friendly smiles, with ok repair & maintenance work, and weak inspections - they are still an "OK" shop... hence why I moved it up to a 3/5. Short of validating the work they claimed they did at another shop, or watching them do the work, I don't know how I can regain trust now.

I returned the vehicle to the dealership immediately. After their inspection, I was informed that the steering wheel angle sensor was broken and the lower control arm was damaged. The dealership claimed these issues occurred after delivery--even though the vehicle was returned the same day--and insisted that I pay for the repairs. Given that these mechanical parts could not have failed immediately under normal use, I raised my concerns. The dealership's sales manager, R.C., refused to issue a refund and instead asked me to cover the repair costs. Based on this experience, I would not recommend purchasing a vehicle from this dealership.

BUYER BEWARE - Avoid this dealership…read more I originally left a 5-star review because the salesman, Bass, was fine to deal with. Unfortunately, everything after the sale has been a nightmare. I paid cash for a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and within two days the check engine light came on and the auto start/stop stopped working. I specifically asked if the auxiliary battery was the issue and was told everything was fine and that I only needed a PCM update at a Jeep dealership. Sherwood Dodge confirmed there was no PCM update required--both batteries had failed and needed replacing, quoting over $1,300. After several calls, Kia eventually replaced both batteries at their expense, but only after initially telling me I was out of luck. They also missed that my keyless entry wasn't working and told me to pay a locksmith myself. I then had to fight just to be reimbursed for the $240 diagnostic fee that their service department told me to incur. It wasn't until I mentioned reporting them to AMVIC that they agreed to reimburse me. I'm absolutely gob smacked they let me drive off their lot with two faulty batteries as this is a huge safety concern potentially being stranded. Two weeks later, the vehicle engine overheated because the radiator fan failed. I was still expected to pay for the part because the warranty didn't cover it. When I picked up the vehicle, the check engine light was still on. The technician simply cleared the code, told me it was an EVAP leak, and said to "drive it and see if it comes back." I asked for documentation and never received it. The biggest concern is that this vehicle supposedly passed an AMVIC inspection despite having two failed batteries, which another dealership said should never have passed inspection. That raises serious questions about how thorough the inspection actually was - do NOT trust the service department. Raj, the service manager, was the only person who genuinely tried to help, but that doesn't make up for the repeated misdiagnoses, poor communication, and having to fight for every resolution. I spent $26,000 expecting a reliable vehicle, not constant repairs and endless runarounds - if i knew this would be the outcome i would have saved myself $26K & continued to sink money into my old vehicle. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this dealership and will be filing a complaint with AMVIC.

Decent Sales Experience, Everything After Was a Disaster…read more My experience with Northwest Toyota was marginal during the sales process and went downhill quickly from there. The sales process involved far too many unnecessary steps. The dealership wouldn't provide me with the VIN so I could arrange insurance and instead insisted on speaking directly with my insurance provider. When I asked why, the only explanation I received was, "That's our policy." It delayed the process by about a day - not a huge deal, but it was an unnecessarily strange start. Financing was a gong show. Despite having great credit, a large down payment and completing everything during regular business hours, I spent roughly three hours sitting around the dealership waiting. There was no apparent reason for the process to take that long. The service department has been considerably worse. It took two weeks to get an appointment for the first oil change on my brand-new 4Runner. During that visit, I was told they needed to check the torque on the camshaft pulley for an additional $50. I couldn't find this listed as a maintenance item in the owner's manual, and nobody could clearly explain why it was necessary. I had also purchased additional coverage after being told that maintenance or repair items not related to normal wear - such as brakes and tires - would be included. Apparently, this torque check wasn't covered because they considered it a "wear item," which makes absolutely no sense to me. After questioning the charge, I left with the understanding that the check would be completed. I then waited approximately three hours for a booked oil-change appointment, only to learn afterward that the torque check hadn't been performed at all. It felt like the advisor simply agreed with me to end the conversation and get me out the door. When I called for an explanation, reception wouldn't transfer me back to the advisor and insisted they could help. They couldn't. I escalated the issue to a manager and, unsurprisingly, received no follow-up. However, the final straw came when a tire catastrophically failed while I was travelling on Argyle Road. There was no obvious puncture or road damage - the tire simply came apart within roughly 40 feet. I installed the full-size spare on the side of the road during rush hour and called Northwest Toyota to arrange an inspection. The tire failure itself wasn't the dealership's fault. Their response afterward was the problem. Before my call could be transferred to service, the reception staff apparently thought I was on hold, continued discussing their weekend plans and then disconnected the call. When I called back and explained what had happened, they immediately denied hanging up on me. There was no apology or even an attempt to acknowledge the situation. Once I reached service, I was told it would take another two weeks to get an appointment. The person handling the call didn't seem to understand that I needed a failed tire inspected and either repaired or replaced. After I explained the situation twice, she asked whether I wanted my winter tires installed. It was August. After explaining everything for a third time, I was told service wouldn't inspect the vehicle until I purchased a replacement tire from the parts department. I would first need to speak with parts, wait for the tire to arrive and then call service back to schedule another appointment. It's a new vehicle, a tire failure is a warranty issue. There was no urgency, concern or interest in helping with a tire failure on a nearly $100,000 new vehicle. That was enough for me. I told them I wouldn't be returning or contacting the dealership again, and they didn't seem remotely concerned. Northwest Toyota advertises itself as "The Big Toyota Dealership." In my experience, that size does not equal competent service, clear communication or any meaningful follow-up. The sales experience was passable, but everything afterward has been disorganized, frustrating and consistently disappointing. I will not return for service, and I would not purchase another vehicle from this dealership.
