Favorite grocery store in my neighborhood. Clean, not over crowded, get in and get out.

Albertson's is not bad at all, especially for packaged stuff. The prices are a little high for stuff like spices ($6 a tiny bottle of spices), but otherwise the prices are normal. Their seafood section is nice and the people working there are great. My big gripe: The vegetable area has a misting spray. This is horrible! 1. The vegetables soak up this water and go bad a lot quicker. (Not to mention it weighs more so it costs more). My vegetables from Albertsons will go bad in ~3 days. If I buy from Costco, it keeps for about 5-12 days. Same with Vallarta (5-14 days). I only buy vegetables from Albertsons if I will cook it the same day or the next day. 2. The napa cabbage is bitter 3/4 times. Ugh. The napa cabbage at Vallarta, Chinese market, and Green frog never have this issue. 3. The ginger is $5.99 a pound--absurd! Quality but also pricey is the name of the game here. I consider this place my specialty food store mainly because a lot of foods found here you can't find anywhere else in Bakersfield. Like mazetta blue cheese olives. Only place that had them was this one. Service is good but not super great. Overall I'm just satisfied. read more

This Albertsons is disgusting!!! Went to buy some steaks and they were all brown and rotting. A meat bunker full of rotting brown meat. When I handed them to the employee to bring it to their attention he told me that "that's the color they turn and you are supposed to use them for a soup" he then took them from me and put them back on the shelf. When I spoke with the front end manager Jeff he told me that the meat hadn't been wrapped properly. Please ppl check your meats before you buy them and don't buy them from this store! read more

I never have high hopes for grocery stores. It seems like I can never find anyone to help me (at least not without an attitude) and I always get the cashier who would rather talk to the bagger than initiate any kind of conversation with me. Consequently, I've come to actively hate going to the grocery store. I recently moved to a new area, and this Albertsons is the only standard grocery store in the area. So, with some trepidation, I went to Albertsons on a weeknight, around 9pm. From the moment I walked in, I was surprisingly pleased. I was in the store for probably a total of ten minutes, and three separate employees politely asked if I needed anything. All of the items I purchased were on sale, which certainly helped. The best part, however, happened when I arrived at the checkout stand. The cashier was friendly and personable. He advised me on a sale that I had missed, which meant I got a free item. He advised me of a coupon for something I had purchased. When he found that I didn't know about the current stamp-collecting promotion, he took the time to explain it to me. I have honestly never had a better cashier. Just looked at my receipt, and it says his name was Calvin G. THANKS, CALVIN! 5/5, will definitely go back. read more

Got the baked chicken that was on sale! It was more like chicken jerky!! They really need to put some sort of timer on the chicken cause I got some fried chicken the day before and it was really good! Today really DRY!! By the way my 3 dogs love the chicken jerky!!!!!!! read more

This Albertsons is okay. Some of the employees are super unfriendly. They usually have a great selection of fruits and vegetables and their shelves are very well stocked and maintained. They even have a small floral section where you can buy flowers and balloons for special occasions. They also sell little succulent plants up front and a redbox machine up near the registers. read more

Andrea is the worst "manager " I didn't even explain what I needed to return before she says no receipt no return rudely to make it worse. I asked for the manager she says she's it . She's actually not.... his name is Greg and he's a tall gentleman . And I've seen him . She needs to learn customer service skills because they lack. Never have I been treated so rudely at albertsons. They need kinder managers not some gangster looking cholas. Went to speak to manager he was on "lunch" when he told me he would directly speak to me when I arrived . Again , I don't know why the assistant managers hide and make false promises the flowers died on day 2 they were all lop sided awful. I bought 4 chickens for x mas.... the flower arrangement and miscellaneous things. 100$$ first off you can go to Costco and get chickens for 5$ vs 7.99 also better flowers. Save your money go somewhere else . If you like bad customer service, a bad attitude and managers who don't ale accountability for horrible service then albertsons is the place for you!! read more

Seniors and toddlers stay away from this store No Christmas spirit in this store. I just Had a very bad experience in this store. Their employee PATRICK practically pushed me down while pushing the broom down the isle. Then he was so rude after he pushed by me didn't even say excuse me as any good person let alone a customer service representative should be doing. Further he was very aggressive and confrontational. He is a loose cannon waiting to explode My suggestion is anyone who is elderly has small children or Disabled or is not ready to be assaulted stay away from this store. Told the manager DANIEL. I had not been to Albertsons in quite awhile & decided to go back to neighborhood store. Of course the prices are higher than Wal-Mart figured the specials would be worth the trip. Found what I needed proceeded to the check out line. There were 2 customers in front of me & was finally able to load my groceries on the counter. Well, thinking a little chit chat would help the time go by I made a comment about team work between checker Ron & the bag girl (long dark hair with long blond streak) & there was really no reaction. I brought my own bags which is common practice & asked the bag girl to please put all my cold items in the insulated bag. Which she then pulled out an item & told me she was already doing that. Not kindly I might add. then since I didn't have many bags with me I asked her to please put some of the heavier items in the cart I could bag them when I got to my car. She tossed them into my cart, then when I noticed I had no more bags & she had started using plastic (which I am trying to avoid) I asked if she could please put the rest in paper, she looked up at me & said they were out of paper & tied a knot in the last bag & dropped it into another plastic bag & tossed it in my cart! WHAT???? I looked at the checker Ron & he gave me my total. I asked him when could I type in my Albertsons card & since he never asked had already totaled my bill. I had to give him my number so I could get my discount. I had clearly heard him ask the previous 2 customers for their Albertsons card. There was no apology for the disrespectful bag girl or the lack of courtesy on the checkers part. I will no longer give Albertsons my business. Between the high prices & the lack of common courtesy I will take my business else where. read more

Bought a? $30 4lb tritip here got it home to find the under side was at least a pound and a half of fat. Took a ton of time to clean and I threw away at least $15 in weight. Super disappointed. read more

We shop at Albertsons often because it is the closest grocery store to where we live. The prices can be a little higher (especially compared to like Wal Mart), but I like the convience of not fight the larger crowds, walking all over a massive store to get what I want, and having employees aho are very friendly and very helpful. Albertsons gives me all of those things. Plus when they have sales or promotions, they have some good buys. The quality of their products are also great as well and the store is well maintained and clean. read more

Albertsons is an expensive place to shop compared to other grocery stores. I love their cakes though I am truly addicted to them. I always get my son's birthday cakes from here. I enjoy their champagne cake and their regular white cake. read more

The guy working the balloon booth this morning around 9am was rude when I inquired about Father's day balloons. I continued to browse and found an alternative. He could have offered suggestions, but he seemed very displeased with himself as a person. I considered giving him suggestions about self help. I am usually pleased with this location overall despite the negative vibes from such employees. read more

I like that Albertsons has a vast variety of ingredients, foods, cheeses, among other things you can't find at other stores. What I don't like is the customer service at the register. Most of the cashier's are not friendly nor welcoming. I want to feel like I can come back and be welcomed back, most cashier's don't even say hello to you or smile. I've tried saying Hi to a few and they've even ignored me, when it comes time to pay, they don't even tell you your total, they just stare at you like "stop wasting my time already", I don't take my business there unless I really really really need to. Now that's there's a neighborhood Walmart on Brundage, that's were I mostly do my shopping. I highly recommend Walmart on Brundage, you can walk in and out, and use their self-check registers, if you go to a regular cashier they are much more friendlier and helpful. I downloaded their app and it allows me to pay with it, it does the ad compare for you and if there's lower prices at other store ads it adds the difference to your app pay, so next time you go shopping you have a little money on the app pay, it automatically adds that to your account then it just charges you the rest. Walmart has definitely improved their services to customers. read more

Selection? Great. Prices? Not Bad. Help? Terrible. Good luck finding anyone on the floor, ever, to help you find something or answer a question. The cashiers are mind numbingly slow. 3's a crowd? I can't count the number of times I've stood in line for 30 minutes to get through the express lane. Albertsons is always a last resort for me nearly every time my opinion is vindicated when the checker chats and moves in slow motion...they really don't care how long it takes you to get through line. Why should they? It isn't their fault how busy it is or how many checkers there are on the floor. Who would care? Well, they do seem to at other grocery stores so that's where I prefer to shop. read more

I was hit up once in the store and once in the parking lot for money and change nothing like paying your hard-earned money for overpriced food and then being bothered in the parking lot for your change I know it's not Albertsons fault but they should get some kind of handle on that I'd rather go somewhere probably a better neighborhood but not get asked for my money that I work for not to mention the checkers are always stuck up here always nobody is genuinely night nice and once again it's overpriced and I worked hard to spend my money there.... but the meat counter is always nice and the food is fresh in the store is clean read more

Employees are very nice, and the prices are expected to be a little higher than say Foodmaxx, but noticed some things I've bought from here had already past "best by" date and the 6 packs I want are always covered in dust as well. Not the best place for alcohol or raw meats, but I won't go anywhere else for my fresh sliced deli meats. :) London broil is a little pricy but melts in your mouth. Totally worth it. read more

Not sure about the customer service because I didn't really interact with the employees but this Albertson's is really clean and has a nice variety, they are a little pricier than other grocery stores, but may be worth it for their variety and convenient location. We just moved to Bakersfield and I went to this Albertsons for the first time yesterday. It was terrible! I've shopped at Albertsons for years in other cities. This was the worst. They had a terrible selection. The deli didn't have the hard salami I usually get, Every section was small. I'm used to cereal taking up most of an isle and this one was less than half. The same for crackers, chips, baking supplies, paper products, etc. I'll have to find a different place to shop. read more

Bad cashier customer service. Decided to make a quick stop since Albertson's is on my way home. When i went up to the counter to pay the cashier not once greeted me, she scanned my groceries and not once asked me " Did you find everything ok" or anything of that sort. When leaving i said to her " Thank you" and little to my surprise nothing was said back,not even a "Have a Good day". I think that's extremely rude. Managers a little suggestion: Train your Employees and those who come in contact with people purchasing from your store about greeting customers. This is a clean, well-kept Museum of Edible Products and Home Goods. The store is neatly laid out and well-lit, the shelves are generally stocked and they carry many hard-to-find items in the local area. Then your eyes glance at the pricing and you'll think you're shopping at Whole Foods or Bristol Farms in West Los Angeles! $5 for a small box of cereal available at Walmart or Target for literally HALF the price? Forget it! $18 for a turkey breast? Who is buying this stuff? I'll tell you. It's mostly a dying breed of older professionals in the area who don't wish to drive 5 miles to a grocery store or don't wish to experience Walmart Hell. Otherwise it's coupon shoppers who are there for the sale items ONLY. So, why do I shop here at all? Lori, the cashier, is the epitome of graciousness and customer service! She calls customers by name and remembers the importance of eye contact and common courtesy. Yes, THAT is enough to get me back in the doors for select items only. Avoid the 40 yr old checker with the brown flat top (5'10", 210lbs, small oval eyeglasses). I used the coinstar machine and he refused to give me the balance in cash, saying it had to go towards a purchase. He then didn't include my receipt even though he made it look like he had. Trying to explore my surroundings at my new apartment, this Albertsons location is most likely going to become my new go to spot for all my supermarket needs. I have not been a big fan of Albertsons in the past, but I have got to admit that this location is bigger and better than many of those that I have been to. Their deli is full of good stuff ready-to-slice; they even have the Columbus Cracked Pepper Turkey that I enjoy for my sandwiches. The produce appeared to be okay. I did buy some strawberries that went bad in less than two days though. They have a wide selection/variety of packaged foods; you will most likely find whatever it is that you are looking for. I was also impressed by their soap/shampoo aisle. I don't think I have seen salon shampoos in a supermarket before. (Granted they were over-priced. But the fact that they had them there was surprising to say the least.) They only get three stars though because their meat and produce isn't as fresh as I'm usually used to. I really like the freshest of food, and they just don't have it here. Guess I have been a little spoiled in the past in this regard. But, I will say that I am happy to have this market so close to where I live. It will be a welcome convenience. read more
