This was in 2021. I got my bunny spayed and they sent her home with NO pain meds and a cone on her (rabbits shouldn't have a cone on them since they aren't nipping at stitches and if they ever are-- putting them in a onesie prevents it) She was in misery refused to move or drink and was grinding her teeth in pain. I took off the cone asap and it took me hours to get her to even drink lil drips. (Rabbits can go into GI Stasis if they stop eating for 6-8 hrs this can be fatal if not noticed). I feel so guilty since it's common sense to give an animal (or human) painkillers after. i didn't connect the pieces until after the first night. When I called the lady refused to even ask the doctor to prescribe pain meds to a post-op bunny. I wish I took her to a different vet. Never went back since. If you can afford the drive (Taylorville) I suggest Countryside Animal Hospital. read more

Took all our pets there for years. They made us feel like family until they forgot to charge us $23 for a stool sample. My wife is struggling with dialysis and according to them missed calls about the bill. Paid after receiving bill in mail. Know they want $50 before they will make an appointment. No talking about it, you can take your business somewhere else. Somehow they don't feel like family anymore. We're taking their advice and taking our pets elsewhere from here on out. They call it a business decision. I call it an insult after all the business we had given them. Bye-bye Albin. Have fun with your business decision. I would highly advise not taking your animals to Albin Vet. On Monday evening our cat had surgery for a urethral obstruction on Wednesday I was called and told that his catheter had come out while under their care in the hospital. They asked if I wanted to do surgery again implying that it would be another $1000. We took him home instead. I called the office the next day asking why I should have to pay again for another surgery when he was supposed to be being watched. They said they would do the surgery again for cost and it should have been offered to me Wednesday. Well now here it is Thursday late afternoon, we bring him back in for another cath. The doctor calls and said he really should stay through the weekend. So he can have the catheter in for 48 hours. At another $659 dollars. Keep in mind we have already paid over the last 2 weeks close to $2000. I called the office again today. I wanted to know why I was going to have to pay for the weekend when if the appropriate communication had been given on Wednesday he could have had the cath placed and been discharged today. And not have to spend additional days in the hospital since they aren't open on the weekends. What did they tell me? They waited to call me back until 415 on a Friday, told me to pickup the cat and that they would not see my animals again. When I picked him up no one told me anything on how he was doing. Never got a call after surgery yesterday. And now I still have a cat who could need immediate care and no vet. All of this from a vets office I have used and recommended for over 20 years. If you care about your animals I would suggest going anywhere else. I am upset and appalled at how I was treated. All I asked was that they make it right and they couldn't even do that. I'm just praying that our cat makes it through the weekend. The owner is heartless, cruel and only cares about money not your pets. read more

My wife and I are traveling to Illinois for a friends Wedding. For the wedding day we wanted to board our 4 dogs (Two Maltese that are Seven and can stay together. Two Schnoodle that are four months that can stay together) so we don't have to worry about them all day. My wife calls to book the boarding for one night, drop off Saturday and pick up Sunday. While they are there she asked if they could groom the two Maltese since our friend takes her dog here and they do a great job. Sure no problem we can do this for you. We ask the price and the said grooming was $31.00 each and boarding is $14.00 for each per day. So not to bad price. So the lady told us the total would be $174.00. So we asked why so much it should be $118.00. She said it is for 2 days boarding since we are dropping off Saturday and picking up Sunday. She said that there is twenty four hours in a day so why the extra day when they will be picked up within twenty four hours. No explanation. She told them that's fine where we do not have to worry. We send them the paperwork where we just had all vaccines done this month so it will speed up the process. They email back and said that we have to have Lepto shots and they do not see it. So I called my vet and they said that it is not a vaccine that is recommended anymore. So I call back and they tell me that they require it. So I asked how much and they say $18.00 per dog with a $18.00 exam fee. So know our total is $318.00. I told them I would call them back after I check on something. My wife and I travel all the time so we board frequently. I called our vet in Arizona, Texas and Louisiana and all three told me the same thing my vet in Alabama told me. Lepto is no longer required. So I called back and they where closed so I emailed them back. I explained that the vets told me it wasn't required and if they required it can they waive the exam fee since all four where just at the vet and only charge me one day. Wake up this morning to an email saying they canceled our appointments. Wow!!! So not only do they want to over charge but not willing to work with people. Vaccination for leptospirosis is an option to consider if your dog is at high risk of contracting the disease. The American Animal Hospital Association considers Leptospirosis a "non-core" vaccine for dogs. That is, they do not recommend it unless there is a good chance your dog will be exposed to Leptospirosis. So are they telling me that their place is not safe? read more
