Igor started out friendly and accommodating. I hired him for a multi-event project to run a smoothie bar. He ran the first event himself with another staff member but then the following events he was not as present, and leaned on his secondary staff without telling me in advance. To his credit, the smoothies were tasty. We had partnered on this project and started what seemed to be a larger relationship between his catering company and my agency. So I tried to hire him for a second project, the same events, which he led me to believe he would do. But he bailed last minute. After he bailed, I was stuck looking for another catering company quickly and since the smoothies were very specific, I asked him to give me the proportions of the ingredients for the recipes we made together. Since he received the balance of his payment a little late (which I understand is frustrating, but he was paid in full only a few weeks late) he bitterly refused to give smoothie information that is useless to him. Ultimately he was two-faced, pretending to be a true partner, but then made my event planning very difficult unnecessarily. So disappointing that he would withhold information to help me, especially after putting me in a bind. Absolutely shocked by how quickly he became so bitter. Myself and my agency will never work with him again. UPDATED 4/25 @Alison H: 1. I work for a small business too and fully support local small businesses. Part of the reason I hired him instead of a name brand smoothie company was to support local small business. 2. I did want his smoothies for my 2nd project, and I tried to hire him, but he backed out after telling me he could do it, which put me in a very difficult position as an event planner. 3. His "secret sauce" wasn't secret. We worked on the recipes together and we agreed on the best ingredients. All I was asking for was the proportions of the ingredients so my next vendor, who I was scrambling to find in short time, wouldn't have to go through taste testing. He would not have these smoothies if I didn't hire him in the first place. 4. He even said that he'd give the proportions to me, and then he reneged on his promise. 5. Lastly, he had absolutely nothing to gain by withholding that information from me other than being petty and spiteful. Alison, I respect you standing up for your friend, but Igor brought this upon himself. He's lucky to get 1 star, which is for tasty smoothies, otherwise he deserves 0 stars for the way he acted. Alchemiq, but more directly its owner, Igor is a guru / magician when it comes to creating decadent signature craft catering experiences. I hired him now for three events and my guests have always left feeling amazed by his concoctions. His drinks are well balanced and strong with out of this world attention to presentation details. Alchemiq is a top-notch catering company with quality products, unique and creative presentations and awesome customer service (see all other 5-star reviews). The 1-star review from Dan G. is utterly ridiculous. Who asks a catering company to share its recipes? And then gives them 1-star because they don't share their "secret sauce"? That's completely unfair and unprofessional to try and take a hit at a small business owner on a public forum for not sharing their secrets. I will counter that 1-star with a 5-star as I know personally know Igor and he is the most thoughtful, genuine and lovely person and is so passionate about client service, quality delivery and is fully dedicated to making each event incredibly unique and memorable for guests and clients alike. Please ignore the childish feet stomping review by Dan G. and don't let it reflect Alchemiq. No company, especially local/small businesses, should be poorly reviewed for something that is the fault of the client, not the owner. You don't ask a catering company for their recipes - that's not how business works and it's inappropriate to fault Igor for not "helping you out". If you want his yummy smoothies, hire him and pay for them. And please, be kind and respectful to this.
