The results of the assessment were detailed, thorough and chillingly accurate in highlighting my personality strengths and weaknesses. And the recommended career paths made sense to me and were in tune with some paths I was already considering, but also illuminated some paths I had not considered. 4 months after I received my assessment results, I landed a new job as a sales engineer, which interestingly was at the top of the list of recommended career paths in the assessment results. A strange coincidence indeed, but I am happier than I have ever been and making more money than I ever had in my 20 year career. All my experience led me to this new job, but the career assessment affirmed where my talents would be best utilized and what kind of role I would be most happy in and WHY. We actually ended up making a dish arrangement in a tall vase. The studio is also very relaxed, and spacious - also think you can rent it out to do private events (showers, etc.) and order in food/drink. We signed up online a couple of weeks in advance and lucked out in getting a private on a Tuesday night at 6:30p. Kaitlin was very nice, professional, prompt. Before class began, she went over basic information such as lingo around floral arrangement terms, tools, where to buy flowers, type of arrangments etc. When we begin creating our arrangement, we went over the structure of the elements. How to construct, use your tools, etc. The plus about the classes here is that they are recreational, not for professional florists or aspiring so there is no rigor about sticking to a particular aesthetic. When we were done, Kaitlin was nice about taking photos, and helped us pack up our (big) arrangements in easy to carry bags. Another plus is you don't need to bring anything - she supplies the flowers, vase and vessel. Class was about two hours. The only room for improvement I have would be to have a handout as I was trying to take lots of notes during the class. Overall, very much recommend and will come back for more classes - tabletop and bud arrangements and sometimes there were guest teachers that teach other things like flower crowns.

I've done glass fusing in the past and loved it, so I decided to finally visit and take a class that focused on making either a Charcuterie board or coaster set. I took the class as part of my birthday weekend on 2/10. It is usually $124 however, I received 30% due to an advertised deal on their site (code sp30). I traveled by train from the Bronx to get here and was very excited however, my experience wasn't as exciting as I anticipated. Unfortunately when I arrived, I got lost. I walked back and forth trying to find the space and even asked around, but no one had heard of it. I looked online trying to find a phone number and to my luck, there is none. After walking around for 15 minutes, I finally found it. The door/entrance has a small sign with their name on it. Maybe it's just me, but they need a better indicator. The business is located on the upper level of what seems to be an executive park of some sort. Meaning, one building with multiple businesses inside or around the premises. The building itself looks like its under heavy construction. I would never have imagined that any sort of classes were being conducted there. Nonetheless, I made it just in time as the instructor, Dorie, seemed to have just began. She gave a great overview of glass fusing techniques and offered tips on making our piece as great as possible. Her directions were also very clear and concise. Once she was done, we were directed to begin our masterpieces. There were 12 students including myself. We were placed at a large table where all of the materials were laid out for us. Each person had a section or workstation at the table to work from. In addition to the wonderful layout, we were offered some delicious bites of charcuterie treats, wine, and water. I took an apron and got to work. The entire class was about 3 hours. We were offered a sheet of paper to sketch out our design. I did not like this nor did I expect it. I was under the impression that we'd do a predetermined design. Sort of like when you participate in a Paint and Sip class. I am not a creative person, so it takes me a long time to figure out a design from scratch. Nonetheless, I came up with something that I thought would be lovely. As mentioned, the table is filled with a variety of materials to create your masterpiece. Unfortunately, a lot of the glass pieces come from larger pieces that seemed to have been cut previously. Many of the pieces were cut unevenly or in various shapes so it felt like I was putting a puzzle together. I had to find pieces that fit into one another as best as possible to make some parts of my design cohesive. My design was somewhat abstract. I focused a lot on various sized boxes and lines. It was difficult to do this with broken pieces because I ended up having to cut them more to make them into squares or find multiple pieces of the desired color to make it as close to a square as possible. In my past experience with glass fusing, they offered pre-cut squares and full glass sheets for me to work with, which made it alot easier. In the end, I ended up staying behind to finish my piece because I just could not find enough cohesive pieces to fill the plate. Honestly, I just threw whatever on it to make it complete because I was tired of it. Despite my lack of creative frustration, the staff were extremely kind and helpful. Whenever I needed help or guidance, they were only steps away to assist. In addition, they were so patient with me as I remained behind to finish while others left. Once complete, they took my name and placed it aside to be fired up. I received an email that it was ready for pick up and stopped by accordingly. Overall, I'm not in love with the finished piece but I'm content with the experience. I think I would've enjoyed it more if I had some direction for the design or more pieces that didn't require as much work. The person working next to me also experienced a creativity block and was worried about the time, so I know it's not just me who may have felt uneasy. I don't think I would return only because of the distance. Otherwise, I would give it another try. I also would recommend to others. It's a nice time for friends or a couple to connect and enjoy themselves.

ENVIRONMENT Interestingly enough, there was ample seating all over the coffee shop. There were ceramic pieces on display all over and after inquiring with the barista she confirmed there's a ceramic studio located in the back(separate ownership). However, for anyone in seek of a unique date idea the combo of coffee and ceramics fills a niche. The service was okay and there were select tables designated as "laptop free". SIPS I tried a chai latte which was decent but far from my favorite. HOWEVER,the drip coffee stole the show and I found myself appreciating it far more than expected. It was quite flavorful. While coffee shops that center around unique themes can at times feel gimmicky, the cafe at Artshack does so in a tasteful way that offers unique value. I will certainly be retuning for the drip coffee and maybe taking a ceramics class at some point.Happy sips!

It was nice, we did a little cheese platter and brought wine and the instructors and staff were really helpful during the whole process. The place definitely makes the experience. Also you can look ahead on calendars to make sure you choose a date that you like the portrait. There are dedicated couple nights but we ended up choosing a painting that we liked. You come with yourself and your snacks/wine and they provide everything else! It's super easy and really fun. I would definitely recommend it to try it out. It's a fun experience and something different to do than the usual.

I unfortunately cannot remember our instructors name (she was super sweet with teal hair) but we had a great time! They studio for brunch classes sets out bagels and orange juice but I arrived with some prosecco and peach nectar for some bellinis ;) Everything you need is already set up - your canvas, brushes and paint so all you have to do is grab an apron and be ready to paint! However, me being somewhat of a perfectionist found that I really wished I had some smaller brushes that what we were giving for some detailing, but that is just me. The instructor did a great job of explaining what she was going, giving tips and going around and helping anyone who need it. She made everyone feel like they were Van Gogh or Monet and there was no wrong or right way to do it. I will say that the set up of the class is maybe not the best, you are in long tables with 4 canvases set up on each side, so if you are sitting toward the back, furthest away from the instructor it may be difficult to see, not just distance wise, but you have other people's canvases and heads in your way. Definitely come early - the studio is open 30 minutes before class. I arrived 15 minutes and was the first one there, so I made sure my mom had a great seat in front of the instructor. Overall a great first paint and sip experience and I would love to come back again and paint more!

what a disaster!! if i could post without giving a star i would. the owner assata rodriguez should…read morerename her business inspired by pinocchio!! bait and switch is her last name. she talks and talks and does not allow you speak. that should have been my warning flag!! she misrepresents herself in the worst possible way, she tells you one thing and event day she states something else totally. she never appeared for my event because she knew she lied to get my buisness and it would have gone badly. i requested the spa-tacular service which i was told includes manicure and pedicure, signature drink(which i did not receive, my party was served tropicana apple harvest punch 64 oz that you can buy for $2.00 at your local bodega.) cups to bring home, ice cream sundae bar with toppings, one slice of pizza and juice per child and a craft(. dont get excited, it was two spoons of breyers ice cream. )and i paid $45 for painting. a week prior she explains if i pick the spatacular service (blinged out decor) i would have to pay $80 extra for the ice cream bar, vs. ice cream theme (just the table is decorated and a happy birthday banner was hung, bare bones decor) with ice cream bar included. i switched my theme after paying my deposit and her knowing my back is against the wall with the event a week away. i patronized her establishment prior to holding the party , liked what i saw, complimented her, being a young black female entrepreneur, we spoke at length, i wanted 15 girls, she offered me a deal verbally, stating if i bought the canvas painting she would allow for the 15 girls. i paid $212 deposit via paypal, including canvas painting. after reading & sending the contract (which states only 10 additional guests allowed , i will include a copy here), she kept changing her policy. my sister spoke with her , i spoke with her and she stated several times 8 girls minimum and up to 12 girls max and any children over that i would have to pay $35 per child to receive spa services. i had 12 kids, within the limit. her contract does not state a minimum nor a max, this is the bait and switch, at the party (which she did not attend due to personal reasons she claims , one of her staff told me she was on vacation) she tells me 8 girls is the maximum and i'll have to pay for the additional kids, whatt!!! after assuring me that 8 was the minimum and the max is 12 kids crazy!! the package is $549, i paid $212, deposit and then event day she claims my balance is $487. she also does not accept final payment via paypal, she wants cash and she charges tax. she did not communicate with her staff about what was owed, her assistant initially stated $539 and they wanted tips, oh hell no!!! lets talk service: bait and switch on pricing and theme talking to me as if im some hood rat, like im not paying for her services, extremely unprofessional: "oh no mama, i gets money, i make money". its people like you i can't deal with" no signature drink ( staff was not told to make a signature drink & which i did not receive, my party was served tropicana apple harvest punch 64 oz that you can buy for $2.00 at your local bodega.) , no cups to take home ( as was originally discussed) , staff had their baby on the premises, at one point my older daughter was babysitting the staff member's child, and she could not do her job because she's tending to her child. staff disrupted the painting before every child was finished. i had to ask the staff for chairs, they expected my adult guests to stand for 3 hours??? staff began to fold tables and chairs as my child was singing happy birthday!!!! wtf!!! my guests were basically being tod get the hell out!! i don't do reviews but her deception and treatment of me was so callous, i had to let others know before using her for a party. ask her how many girls maximum for spa parties and ask her does price of the package cover the max amount of girls. i have no doubt she'll be playing pinocchio with you. get it in writing before you pay her a dime. read her "contract" below.
