I prefer the spring/summer menu over the supper club style they are doing during the winter. The steak frites was pretty dry. The butter chicken is a safe option. But I'd be happy eating any of their pizza's year round. The Salad here is sorry for the price. Service can be hit or miss. Ambiance is still nice, especially the patio on a nice day.

While in Rockford for my daughter's second Baseball tournament, the parents decided to eat here for our night out. It is really weird because this restaurant/ bar is connected to two other restaurants. Of the three, this is supposed to be more downscale in attire, but not on prices. The restaurant itself is nice with the restaurant open to the air with a mesh ceiling to ground cover. The decor is modern and the service was friendly albeit not really up to par. For a place that should be a little upscale, they got a lot of our orders wrong or not served on time. The food itself was mixture of things, some were really good, some just meh and some terrible. This is coming from not just my opinion, but opinions of others in our group who had tasted everything. Here is some of what we had: Sweet and sour brussel sprouts: crispy brussel sprouts, honey, lime zest, Sriracha dust - this was one of the really good things. They separated so that it was like brussel sprout chips. Really tasty and my fave. Cheddar and Gouda tots: house tater tots stuffed with smoked Gouda, cheddar, chives, bacon crumble, served with jalapeno ranch dressing - kinda hyped up for the presentation and price. I mean they served 4 tots the size of 2 put together. It tasted just ok. I love tots so I wanted to taste them. Buffalo shrimp: blue cheese crumble, ranch - this was ok, kinda weird because I am used to breaded shrimp where this was just cooked shrimp smothered in sauce. BBQ sandwich - presentation...awesome, taste, just ok not really worth the price Overall, if I were to go back to Rockford, I may go back for a drink and brussel sprouts.

When we have out-of-town guests, this is the place we will take them. It's a place I would be proud to take them. It's literally the only place I've been to that I can say that about. All the food is great: from the salmon to the chicken to the pizza to the pasta .... The service is great: helpful, nice, don't rush you out.... Service was the same, had to ask for napkins and a steak knife as they were not brought to us. We our server was very sweet. The bruschetta and oysters Rockefeller were the stand outs-- so good! Both our mains were a bit disappointing. The cook on my husband's steak was incorrect and it had zero char-- pretty much totally gray. My risotto was undercooked with a bit too al dente rice and watery sauce. It also was underseasoned. However the seafood was great so I ate that without hesitation. I keep saying I like but don't love Francesco's, and for dinner for $275 for two people in Rockford, I just expect better quality if we're going to be paying downtown Chicago prices. I would go back but it's not going to be a meal I seek out.

A lot has changed since the last time we visited a few years ago…read more We were looking to break out of what I call our "DeKalb" funk since we have been eating a lot in DeKalb when we do eat out. I thought of Hoffman House, which is co-located inside a hotel. We'd eaten there years ago, and their prime rib was very good. While driving north, my wife looked it up. They changed from a white table cloth restaurant to more of a sports bar theme. Their entree list was rather anemic and just not worth the trip, except they did offer Prime Rib on Saturday. We made the trip. For starters, when you walk in there is no hostess station. The bartender told us "Sit where ever you want." so we found a booth that was clean and sat down. The seating was, well worn as in worn out. The seat covers were chipping on the chairs, and the booth seating was just dead. Our server arrived and we placed our order. My wife ordered tea, and I had a Guiness draft which was properly poured. The server brought out 4 honey buns, which are light and fluffy, sprinkled with powdered sugar, and served with a honey butter blend. They are best when they arrive - HOT. (Eat them as they arrive) It wasn't very long before the main course came out. No salad was offered. My Prime Rib was ordered and served medium rare, and the baked potato was cooked properly. I was expecting some horseradish sauce with the Prime Rib - nope. My wife did enjoy her shaved Prime Rib sandwich - the roll it was on was nice, and she opted for the premium onion strings, which were tasty. Why just okay? This was a place to go for a nice dinner with your family. It has transformed into a tired sports bar. Lots of screens, but it's kind of half-hearted with regards to the sports bar theme. Servers aren't in sports uniforms, there isn't a lot of stuff on the walls. The seating is worn out and should be either refinished or replaced. It feel like they ran out of money or concepts during the conversion, and just stopped. There is nothing compelling here to bring us back.
