My appointment started nearly 20 minutes late. When we went in for the body polish the table was dirty and had to be reset, and the service wasn't explained beforehand, which was uncomfortable going in blind as a first-time client. She also had me touch the tan on my body during the service, which you should never do, and it left spray tan all over my palms. I did not have my palms or nails wiped off at the end either. When I brought it her attention upon leaving (as well as other white spots all over my hands) she sprayed more, which I think ended up making it worse. She tried wiping off my palms at that point, but they were already stained. I paid over $80 total -- which is higher than other studios in Scottsdale, and I have never had a bad experience anywhere else. I still left orange and splotchy with the polish and primer add-ons -- photos attached. The girl who did my tan was nice, but maybe less experienced and appeared to be managing the whole studio on her own. When I reached out, the response was "sorry that you were unhappy with your service" -- but this wasn't about being unhappy, it was a service that wasn't done correctly. It feels like I'm being treated like I did something wrong. I was told I needed to come back in for them to review what happened, which would have required me to leave work early, and that since I hadn't done that I wasn't eligible for a refund. They did offer a free tan as a "gesture of goodwill", but I don't have confidence anything would be different next time. When a tan is orange and patchy, the only solution is to remove it and redo once the old tan is gone -- not go back for more. I'll be trying somewhere else. I ended up having to buy tan remover, a remover mitt and went in the pool several times to try to remove the solution and it's still stuck on there over a week later. I wanted to love this place as it's close to home. I hope they use this feedback to improve the new client experience. If someone turns down a free service, that might be worth reflecting on.

However, the biggest challenge with this location is the efficiency of the check-in and check-out process. There is no dedicated front-desk person, which means the sugaring and waxing specialists are doing everything, performing services, answering phones, checking in clients, checking out clients, and managing walk-ins. Because of this, the wait times before and after the appointment are consistently extended, even when the staff is doing their best. The specialists themselves are great, but it's almost impossible for them to give a fully hands-on, focused experience when they're simultaneously trying to run the entire front-of-house. I understand wanting to cut costs, but the administrative side of the experience is too important to overlook. Even a part-time receptionist or intern would make a huge difference in the flow and overall customer experience. I genuinely like this location, but whether I return will depend on whether they improve this operational inefficiency. If you're in a rush or need a quick, smooth in-and-out appointment, this may not be the ideal location for you at the moment. I hope they consider adjusting their staffing model, because the specialists themselves are wonderful. I had Kenzie before and she was amazing but no longer here as of last month. If I ever have a question, concern or suggestion, the owner has met me with open ears, ready to do what it takes to keep customers happy. Second, they hire great therapists. As in any industry, turnover on some level is expected, but this small local business has therapists who've been with them for over a decade! I tend to have my "regular" and favorite therapists, but if scheduling is a challenge, the front desk is happy to consider my needs and preferences in recommending a new therapist they feel might be a fit - and I've never been disappointed. Thirdly, the space is comfortable, well appointed, clean and feels safe. Getting body services can feel vulnerable - they have created a culture and atmosphere that (as a woman) makes me feel SAFE! Also, when booking, you can mention your preference for a male or female therapist - a nice touch! And lastly, their price points and membership option make regular self-care accessible!! I wholeheartedly endorse their membership plans - they are a great way to schedule regular sessions (they key to maintaining good health!) and if I miss a month or two I don't lose my credits! The older gentleman who did my nails kept hurting me, he filed my real nails way down till there was almost nothing left, kept poking me, and put so much acrylic on that it would get really hot and burn! I've never experienced that before, and it took twice as long as it should have. I may return in the future but definitely go with one of the girls who does better work.
