Made an appointment two weeks ago for a cut and color. They cancelled my appointment the day of and told me they would reschedule for the following day. I walk in for my appointment and the person at the front told me he accidentally made my appointment for the following week and they had no one that could take me. Don't live in the area, was here visiting and wanted to get done while on vacation before I had to leave for a 10 day business trip! I had to re-arrange one of my vacation days to accommodate them as they cancelled me the day of! I had to go back inside after leaving totally fustrated to see if they could take me the day before leaving for my business trip....they did not even offer another solution to try and help me. I did book for another day and asked if they would compensate me somehow for all my trouble. A few minutes later I get a call from the owner saying she would not compensate me in any way and that its best that she cancels my now third attempt at an appt. as she NEVER gives a discount. WORST SALON...!!! WORST $250.00 EXPERIENCE EVER !!! With Sylvia, the OWNER... I was shocked to look up and see my then blonde hair, brown with a few pieces of orange highlights. The owner (Sylvia), again shocked me by charging me $250.00. I left and tried to stay positive. That was until my friends asked me what happened to your hair and who? I told them and now I'm telling you my horrible experience. I anonymously called to see how much Sylvia charges for highlights? The receptionist could not give me a price nor a price range. I really believe it depends on what you're wearing and how big your diamond is. After my friends and family saw my hair, then hearing the price I paid, they all told me to call her and have her fix it!! So I did. I called Sylvia and explained the color was NOT like any of the pictures I brought in, is no where near what we had discussed prior and I'm really not happy with the color. What I thought to be a very nice, concerned and friendly woman, launched into me saying, "I worked very hard on your hair, spent a lot of time and I don't know what to tell you! " I said, well, for $250.00, I would like it to at least be blonde again and could you please fix it? Before hanging up on me, she said, " I will NOT fix it and it would be best if I went to a different salon". I said, " You're telling me I paid over $250.00, I'm not happy, you're refusing to try to fix it, AND you're telling me to go to another salon? I asked, "Can't you try to fix it? I don't understand? " She said, "No" and hung up on me. Wow... I've never ever had an experience like this before and from the owner, (Sylvia)! - So, I'm filling a claim with the BBB. Glad I kept my before and pictures taken at that Alchemy Salon that day. For a hairdresser to refuse to try and fix what whatever you're unhappy with, I don't get? But to speak to me in an unjustly manor and flat out tell you to go somewhere else? She definitely has issues! Going broke, desperate or just doesn't know what's she's doing... I had a morning appointment on my wedding day. They knew it was my wedding day. They were behind schedule so I waited 1.5 hours past my appointment. I was so stressed and late to my makeup appointment. They threw my entire wedding schedule off and I missed my first-look photoshoot. All they did was curl my hair. Mediocre service for an exorbitant price in a beautiful setting describes this place best. I can't believe the price the price they charged me for such an average haircut. And I had to listen to upselling, which is especially ridiculous when you're spending that much on a haircut. I've lived in expensive areas (NYC, Philadelphia) and have never paid that much for a haircut even at upscale salons like this one. If the cut was something extraordinary, I wouldn't balk at the price but it was no better or worse than the average haircut I've gotten. Hoping I'll fin somewhere better here in Fresno! read more

Yes I'm guy and I go to a salon, get over it!!! Alchemy Salon is by far the best hair salon and spa in Fresno. Sylvia is by far the sweetest most competent stylist I have ever had by far!!! The experience starts as soon as you pull up to the building. Not some cheesy strip mall, but an actual gorgeous building which is home of Alchemy Salon. Salon is on the 3rd floor and the views of the surrounding valley are spectacular. The front desk staff are always professional and take care of business. Sylvia knows her trade and always provides the best experience she can. Point blank, she knows how to cut, color, and highlight hair as good as any Top Dollar Hollywood stylist. I can assure you this, you will not be disappointed. Making a decision on where to get your hair done can be daunting, but once you go to Alchemy Salon you will soon put any doubts you have to rest and I assure you, that you will look and feel better than you ever have!!! Alchemy is the best salon I've ever been to. The employees are super nice and very welcoming. Right when you walk in you are greeted with a warm, inviting smile and incredible enthusiasm. I made the mistake of going to another salon because I was trying to save a little money. I ended up with the worst hair cut of my life. I decided to come here so Sylvia could fix it. I trust Sylvia with my hair. She has been doing hair for longer than ive even been alive and she knows what she is doing. You get what you pay for with this salon, I've never felt like the price wasn't worth it. I have curly hair (between 3b and 3c) and Sylvia always cuts my hair perfectly. She knows what to do because she pays attention the thickness and texture of my hair. Sylvia is a life saver. My wreck job hair cut from the other salon was a total mess (entirely too short and completely uneven) and she literally fixed it without having to make it too short. Sylvia is like an artist and your hair is her canvas. I'm not used to having my hair so short and she even gave me styling advice and assured me that my hair will be fine. Every one in this salon is very happy, extremely nice, and unbelievably professional. This is from the moment you walk in all the way to the moment you leave. All in all, this is the best salon I've ever been to and I will never make the mistake of going to another one ever again. read more

This salon was extremely unprofessional and unorganized and that was all while trying to just make an appointment with Slyvia. I called on Wednesday to make an appointment for Saturday. The Salon then called me four times, yes four different times to reschedule the appointment. It was so confusing and incredibly unprofessional. After I decided to go extremely all over blonde and the color turned out more yellowy orange, I was desperate for a new hairstylist. On this exact site I found Alchemy and Sylvia. She was so kind and patient with me and listened to exactly what I wanted. She neutralized it almost back to my natural color (which I thought would be impossible) and we have slowly added more and more pretty blonde. The salon is so beautiful, I especially love the windows and views. Not only is Syliva so sweet and talented, the staff is all really nice and friendly too, especially Christina! Alchamey is a FANTASTIC salon, and the satff is OUTSTANDING!!! I came to Syliva the owner with severly damaged hair, from another high end salon in fresno. She took the time to counsal me on my hair and tell ME what it needed to be happy and healthy again (so many times we the stylest what we want but its not always best for our hair), she asked me about my hair history and "read" my hair. She is a hair wisperer!!! I am so happy with color and cut, I have not had my hair this soft and lucious in forever!! Sylvia is SOOOOOOO friendly, also her assistant is a doll!!! BEWARE! The owner Sylvia charged me $200.00 to lighten my daughters natural medium brown virgin hair to a lighter brown shade. My daughter's hair is Orange and all of her friends asked her why she dyed her hair Red? I called twice and emailed Sylvia the owner and she never returned my call or my email. After all of the business my family gave her, she does not even have the professionalism to return the call and make an effort to fix the Orange color of my 16 year old daughter's hair. This is not how a business owner treats her clients. My daughter hates her hair color and I caution anyone to go here. It is unimaginable to ignore a client who has spent a lot of money with your business, and to NOT even offer to correct the color, is all we wanted. After 5 consultations with other stylists, I settled on Sylvia. I'm getting divorced and it was important to me that I look and feel my best. She was very sweet, and the salon was absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, she did a terrible job on my hair. She left me with under-processed, brassy, patchy roots. I knew I was in trouble when the shampoo boy led me to me seat with a towel wrapped tightly on my head. I hoped that this was because he wanted me to be happily surprised with the "reveal", but deep down I knew better. Sylvia was obviously uncomfortable when she unwrapped me. She admitted that she hadn't done so well, but told me to come back and she'd fix it for free. Well, I came back on the day of my appointment and she was half an hour late. I sat there pondering why on earth I was even there- this was the absolute worst dye job I'd ever had, including those done by inexperienced friends in my teens. I decided I wouldn't wait another minute and didn't want her touching my hair again. I left a note with the receptionist that I wanted my money back and left my contact info. No call. I called a few days later and they said she was busy and would call back- nothing. I still have terrible hair and want my money back. Alchemy should be ashamed. read more
