I was able to bring the empty frame in to Gary's shop on a weekend and he got it fixed beautifully for me right away. Then, he spotted a minor flaw in the glass after he had already made the initial replacement. It was small enough that I may have never noticed, but Gary did. He instantly made plans to redo the piece at no extra charge and still got it back to me the very next day despite clearly having other projects and obligations. Great service, great attention to detail and willing to go the extra mile. He even attached new very sturdy hanging wire for the mirror as the mirror's glass had broken when the old wire (after more than 50 years of service on the wall at my mother in law's house) suddenly snapped. As we were getting our home ready to sell, we had an accident: a glass window which covers the top half of our "side door" was broken. Of course, we needed to have it replaced. The wind blew an object through my living room window during a storm and I wanted to get it fixed asap. Called Alcoa and Gary said he'd come over in an hour. He didn't show up and it was getting dark. Called him, he said he had a flat tire and would come the next day. Why didn't he call and let me know? He did show up the next day, measured and gave an estimate and said he'd call the following Monday. He never called. I waited until Wednesday and called. He said he didn't have his binder so he couldn't tell me the status of my repair but he would call back later that day. He again never called. I waited a couple more days. Called, his voice mail was full so couldn't get through. Kept trying. Got through the next day. Again he didn't have his binder but would call back later that day. Again never called back. Going on the third week now and still have no idea what is going on. Tried to call, voice mail full again. Kept trying. Finally got through around 3:30 in the afternoon. He answered the phone drunk. He must have thought I was someone else when he answered the phone. He didn't say hello like normal people answer, he he answered by saying "you're not going to believe this." Then he babbled on with nonsense that made no sense to me. He finally said he didn't know who I was. I told him who I was and asked for the status of my repair. He couldn't tell me, he didn't have the information in front of him. I complained about how he has never called me back or given me any information on the status of my repair. He accused me of having an attitude and continued to babble on with nonsense saying he owed money and insisted he had paid them??? He babbled on about having a lot of good customers. Sounded like he hasn't paid his bills so was unable to order the glass for my window. He said he would call back. Of course after not being called back ever I didn't believe he would. I wanted to make sure he had my number. He said wait a minute and hung up on me!! I called back, someone else answered who said he would be taking over the business. I told him I have been unable to find out if the glass has even been ordered yet and that I have never gotten called back. He said he would call back. I asked when because I would have to give him a different number if he wasn't going to call until the next day. He assured me he would call me back that same day. This guy also never called me back. If they can't do the job the least they could do is have the common courtesy to say so. I could have had the window repaired by now if I had called someone else. We have a 29-year-old house with 33 double-pane, black metal-frame windows. Some of them had condensation, including a picture window in our family room. We got an estimate for replacing eight of them. It seems everyone installs vinyl windows now, and they would not have matched our remaining metal windows. We didn't want to spend a fortune replacing all of the windows. And since we like the look of our metal windows, we decided to just replace the glass. Gary at Alcoa came out and agreed that replacing eight panes would solve our condensation problem, and we can probably go several years without having to replace more panes. He and his associate did a great job and saved us many thousands of dollars compared to new eight new windows, and many many thousands compared to 33 new windows.
