We had a failing well pump. We were disappointed by the lack of attention to our calls for service by two other firms we have worked with before. Alcorn was new to us and they were excellent! Timely response. They specialize in the pump technology, not the drilling of wells. That differentiates them from the drilling companies we have worked with. They diagnosed some erroneous elements of the installation of the prior equipment that explained the cause of the failure. Alex, the owner, personally participated in the diagnosis and offered additional information about the filtration design of our system. I've used them on 3 projects and couldn't be happier. Prices are reasonable, the customer service is excellent and the quality of work is just fine. Proj #1 Pump and pipe replacement - went without a hitch. Getting to the well head was a bit tricky but they managed it. Proj #2 Lost pressure. It turned out that I had a line break. I had to do the digging but they came out as soon as the break was exposed and replaced that section of the line. I'm not the greatest digger in the world and the hole to work in was pretty narrow. I was doing the digging by hand. :( It was about 5-6ft deep to get to the darn pipe. That was a surprise for everyone. Anyway, given how narrow the space was, I was impressed that they took the job on and did it in a timely manner. Proj # 3. We just got flooded. I wanted my pressure switch and the control panel checked out before I turned the power back on to the pump.. I asked for a Monday appointment but because Alex was already booked for Monday, he came out on Sunday a few hours after I called and checked it out at no charge. I am the one that schlepped into the crawlspace to take some photos but I was down there anyway getting rid of standing water. No need for him to get covered in mud. :) After we flipped the pump breaker and nothing happened, Alex pointed out that the reason the pump didn't run is that I'd flipped the breaker to run part of the house on a generator (which we don't have just yet). I'd shut power to the house down as we evacuated and flipped everything to off;. I had been wondering why 1/2 my house didn't have power after I';d flipped the master breaker and had already started reaching out for an election. That was my doh moment. He saved me a service call. read more

It's like hiring the three stooges. They argued amongst themselves. Didn't have the tools to do the job right. They kept saying "well if we had this or if we had that" but always yea but it's at the shop. Stay clear of this company. Nor sure why Angies List had them advertised. Also be aware of their fees...UNBELIEVABLE! Water samples can be done yourself don't pay for them to take it to the lab. They charge a travel fee which was never mentioned until I said stop the work and bill me for the work you did...or should I say they didn't do. Two hrs of work at $225 an hr...results ..nothing. My first call to Alcorn Pump was in panic mode. Bad storm and water was out. They came out same day and patched it. They told me I should get a new pump etc. At first he was talking around $3500.00 but told me he would send a quote later. The quote was almost double. At work my boss told me don't get it. They all same the same thing, they just replace the breaker system and you are good to go. Thus I waited. Well Alcorn was correct the well failed. They honored the quote and came out next day and replaced the system. Water pressure went from 40PSI to 60PSI. I would hear the old well kick in all the time. You do not hear this one at all.
