As a lifelong Ohio State fan, walking into this place felt less like lunch and more like stepping straight into Buckeye Heaven. Every inch of the diner is drenched in scarlet and gray pride--autographed photos, jerseys worn by real players, helmets, and memorabilia that makes you want to stand up and belt out "Carmen Ohio." I knew before even cracking the menu: I was home. Our server, Grace, was all smiles and Buckeye spirit. She gave us the rundown--Woody's has been serving up Buckeye-influenced eats for about 15 years. And it shows. The burgers aren't just burgers here--they're tributes, each named after coaches, players, or football legends. Picking one felt like draft day. Grace recommended the Dustin Burger, named after former Buckeye great Dustin Fox. Now, I'll admit--when I heard "peanut butter on a burger," my first reaction was the same as when Michigan wins a game: complete disbelief. But I trusted Grace. And let me tell you... this was no trick play. This half-pound beauty came stacked with peanut butter, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, and a fried egg. It sounds strange, but somehow the combo worked like a perfectly executed Flea Flicker. The bun was grilled, the burger cooked to a juicy medium rare, and by the second bite I needed a stack of napkins big enough to block a defensive line. My wife went with the Tailgate Burger--a powerhouse with house-made BBQ sauce, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, Miracle Whip, and onion straws. Cooked to medium well, it was sweet, tangy, and messy enough to require its own offensive coordinator. She said it was delicious--though maybe a little too "sloppy touchdown celebration" for her liking. And get this--burgers are just the start. The menu is huge, with pizzas, sandwiches, and even big entrees like grilled steak and pork chops. But honestly, when the burgers are this good, I don't know if I could ever call another play. So here's my verdict: Woody's Diner = Buckeye pride + killer burgers + friendly staff = one unforgettable lunch. Today we stopped here to have lunch. It's located near Indian Lake in Russell's Point, Ohio. The diner is all decked out in Ohio State Football memorabilia. Our server Grace was very nice and gave my husband some recommendations on what burgers to try. I had the tailgaters burger. It came with sweet BBQ sauce, miracle whip, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and crisp onion straws and a very large side of handcut fries for $14.99. It was a very large burger. We were not greeted when we came in and not acknowledged. There is no sign to say Seat Yourself or Wait for Hostess. So we waited there awkwardly and it was not a pleasant start. Then we got our own menus which seemed to make a server angry. We had an appetizer of mozzarella sticks which seemed fresh and delicious. There is a special on Wed for subs but I got the Dustin burger with peanut butter and a fried egg, so scrumptious! The fries came with all our lunches and we agreed that they were yum! The mayo seemed funky but the place is getting to be out of season for the lake, maybe they are running low as the lake population decreases. read more

We really enjoyed our evening at Woody's and were surprised at how good it was given their meh yelp review average. Our server Stacy was attentive, accurate and friendly. Everything we ordered was fresh and tasty. The standouts were the fried chicken and the sweet potato fries. The fried chicken was pretty much perfect, all dark meat was a choice, which I appreciate. It was crispy, very hot... very tender inside and crunchy outside, just outstanding. I recommend adding a little black pepper if you order it, but that's not really a criticism. I also enjoyed my very hot and fresh sweet potato fries. The steak was good (wife let me taste hers) It was a filet which I expected to be perhaps a bit more tender, but that's being pretty picky -it was definitely not a disappointment. The onion straws were crunchy, fresh and flavorful. Looking at their other reviews, it looks like they did not take the pandemic as seriously as they should have. So, if there's another surge, my advice would be to be a good community citizen, mask up your staff and redeem yourselves on that front. Thanks!! read more

I was very frustrated with the service at Woody's Diner. It took a while in the first place (1 1/2 hours) to get our food and unfortunately they accidentally took one of our pizzas and gave it to someone else. We also were frustrated by the servers attitude I understand working with people all day can be extremely frustrating and I don't expect you to smile or be chatty, but eye rolling and sighing when we only asked for a refill once and for some more sauce was frustrating and rude. I normally don't write restaurant reviews, but here it goes. 1st of all Woody's normally has been good in the past, but this evening I was appalled. I don't blame the servers, however' I ordered the Pork Loin Dinner with baked potato and tater tots. All was great until I took a bite of the loin. Instantly I could tell something was off. The meat had turned and had a rancid taste and smell. I had my wife try it and another friend smell it and they both agreed it was bad. I asked the waitress just to take it back since I only ate 2 tater tots. I didn't ask to have it removed from the bill and I'm an honest person who always believes in paying my way. That should've been the end of it, But......... Then the female owner came out to our table all huffy and proceeded to yell at me, that I was wrong and that she ate the whole thing and that it was fine. (Personally I'd think that would tend to be just plain gross). Then she proceeded to shout and tell me off that I've always complained in the past and in front of other customers. Which is an out right Lie!!!!! Really I am appalled! The only time I've ever complained was when I got a $36 surcharge on a $32 bill which was ridiculous and that complaint was well over a year ago. I still paid the bill in full with surcharge and all, because I refuse to be thought of as not paying my own way and I have always over tipped. Yes I guess others would say I'm gullible..... I wouldn't have said anything but this experience was like something out of Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares. I still tipped the Waitress over $9. on a $21 bill. On our trip back from holland Michigan from the tulip festival we were close to Indian lake and we were getting hungry and looking for somewhere to eat, I checked yelp and found a diner named woody's, since I am a huge Buckeyes fan I thought we should check this place out!! When we pulled up it is a smallish place with a small parking lot, being right after lunch we found a spot close to the front door. Even though the place is on the small side they have a huge patio out back . When we entered I was delighted with all the Ohio state decorations, and the menu is named after former players. We sat down and our server was super nice and took our order. I ordered the jack attack burger and hand cut fries, I was shocked it was only 8.99 my wife ordered a half Cobb salad both portions were quite large, my burger was tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned. My wife said there salad was a decent size for a half size. The decor was nicely done without being cheesy, our server was friendly and did a decent job but it wasn't super busy when we got our food. If you are looking for some great diner food and reasonable prices and are in the Indian lake area, or looking for a weekend drive not to far from home, you should definitely check them out 9/10 read more

The best bar on Indian Lake. It's all about the Buckeyes. This is the place in the area for game day. Has an inside and outside bar. Pretty good service. I knew this was an Ohio State bar. I wasn't prepared for how over the top this is. There's wall to wall memorabilia. Lots of funny things about that school up north. This must be crazy busy on football Saturdays. I had a vodka and ginger ale. This was about $3 for a strong pour. It has two bars. The inside one is always crowded. The outside one isn't much better. As for the food it's mostly fried and greasy. That kind of stuff is expected though. It's a good place for watching the Buckeyes. It's open later in the year than most of the other bars since it's not along the lake. First timer! A friend has a house on Indian Lake so we stopped in here because it was close. The menu was chock full of great possibilities, but we ended up (3 of us) going for 5 appetizers to pass around. Oh my! The fried mushrooms were HUGE and the artichoke dip was delicious. Winner winner! Great Fish Dinner! Stopped in for Friday lunch. It was lent season so they had a fish platter special for 9.50 and it was super. Got the onion straws as a side and they were sooo good. Came with 3 huge pieces of perfectly battered fish. Also ordered the chili. It was eh. Not a lot of flavor not a lot of meat. They have a huge menu so I would definitely order something else next time. They had a lunch buffet that looked very good as well if you need a quick lunch bite. A friend and I came here for lunch. I got a cup of soup and a half a grilled chicken salad. The portions were very good for the price and the menu is pretty extensive. They also have specials such as prime rib. I took my husband here for dinner last week. We got several appetizers and he got a massive burger and I had a ribeye. Everything came out hot and fast. This place seems to always be hopping even in the off season at the lake. It's a seat yourself and there is a bar as well. For being so busy I watched 2 waitresses own the floor! Those girls hustled to serve,bus and wait and did a fantastic job at it. There is a large patio outback for the summer that appears to double the seating. HIGH prices. We joked that during the tornado, Woodys actually raised the prices! Charged for water. No refills. Example: large sub for $12 and change, add fries and coleslaw for $8!? That's $20 for a large sub and fries plus the $3 if you want a drink, plus the tip, plus tax. Hmm. Then if you order to go, they have an outdated machine that prints the receipt you have to sign. Of course there is a tip line. For what? Why would there be a tip line if there is no waiter or bartender to earn it? That's shady imo. Other than that, food is good. read more

We have eaten at Woodys for years and always enjoyed our meals until today. I have noticed in the past that the chicken tenders , while having a good flavor , are a bit greasy and today they were like being dipped in grease...The same wnet for the fries and my husbads sandwich.....We brought it home so did not have a chance to return at the restaurant......I have never done that anywhere that I recall but I got sick on this and my husband felt sick as well......I noticed while back that they had a sigb fooking for cooks......lI am wonderinng if anyone else has noticed the freasiness of the food lately.......I doubt if we go back there for awhile.....We used to love the buffets prior to covid at the Woodys in Wapak and were happy when one was opening here...... read more
