A little slice of espresso heaven in Alden? Believe it. I moved to Alden fully expecting to spend my mornings making coffee pilgrimages to Williamsville, Hamburg, or--if things got really desperate--Buffalo. Because let's face it: small towns are adorable, but they're not exactly known for serving up killer espresso drinks that don't taste like regret and cardboard. Enter Alden Bakery and Cafe, the local caffeine oasis that not only exceeded my expectations--it obliterated them with one perfect iced breve latte. And when I say perfect, I mean every single time. I don't have to explain what a breve is. I don't get judgmental looks like I just asked for a cheeseburger taco in a sourdough cup. They just make it--creamy, bold, beautiful--and I sip it like a queen. My friend from Jacksonville, FL visited and I took her here. She went back to her big ol' city and texted me, genuinely annoyed to wake up in a place that didn't have this café. Big city, no Alden Bakery. Tragic. As for the baked goods--listen, I'm not your sugar fairy. I've tried a few things and they seemed lovely, but I'm not a sweets person. What I can vouch for are the breakfast sandwiches and bagels. I was in the area and saw this coffee shop while driving by. I stopped in on a Sunday around 2p and I was taken care of immediately. This is an establishment where you order and pay at the counter, then are served if you choose to dine-in. It definitely has a small town diner vibe where you know they have their daily regulars. They have a whole case of homemade baked goods, a small breakfast and lunch menu, and a number of coffee options. I got a 16oz vanilla raspberry iced latte, a blueberry muffin, and a pumpkin shaped sugar cookie and paid $14 and some change. Everything was delicious. The service I got was great. I have to stop every time I am in town. The food is top notch and fresh. The Cinnamon Rolls are something I have to bring home every time. So many choices from breakfast, lunch and the bakery goods. I wasn't totally impressed. They have great options and a lot of them but I do think their sandwiches are a bit overpriced considering the size. I was expecting a bigger role but it seemed between the size of a slider and a burger. They used to not be great with allergies (nuts in the front of the cases) so I haven't had their baked goods in a while. The workers seemed really nice and were helpful. read more

I was driving in the area and a very large, bright blue sign caught my eye that said "GELATO!". It was 90 degrees today so naturally I had to stop to get some! My fat, pregnant heart was broken when I walked in and asked about their flavors and they told me they actually don't have any gelato. But but but you have a sign... I bought a pastry instead. One of those home-made toaster strudel things with the strawberry and cream cheese filling... And it will go down in history as the best pastry I've ever eaten. I also got a pastry heart with buttercream and that was equally as delicious. $3 per pastry is a little steep for my wallet but whenever I'm in the need to curb my sweet tooth, I would go back. Contemporary style adorable family ran bakery/ cafe located in the heart of Alden. My mom and I decided to take a ride to check out this cute, warm, cozy cafe. This used to be an old deli that was converted, and recently opened this past July during the pandemic. The cafe is clean, staff is welcoming and appreciative for your business. They even offer vegan, gluten free options, everything homemade : soups, salads, artisan sandwiches, baked goods, latte, iced drinks, expresso, Gelato. Something for everyone's taste buds. Local businesses are vitally important during covid pandemic. The owner even came up with a pay it forward board. My mom & I both took part; what a rewarding creative, thoughtful idea. read more

This little cafe is so cute and I wish I lived close by to walk here everyday! They had a lot of baked goods to choose from, the breakfast sandwiches were delicious and the staff was very friendly. They had hot beverages but also smoothies which was a nice surprise. I would definitely recommend this to any locals if you are in the mood for a sweet treat! read more

Stopped in here on a chilly Sunday afternoon. Pastries were 2 for $5 which I though was an awesome deal considering how huge their snickerdoodles and cinnamon buns are! I got the pumpkin pancakes and the Mummy Latte - both were pretty sweet for my taste but delicious. My friend enjoyed the meatball sliders - she commented that they were juicy and flavorful. This cute and cozy café in the heart of Alden just opened last summer during the pandemic. A vegan friend of mine knows the owner, and shared on their Instagram that vegan options were offered. I had watched the café grow on Instagram throughout the months, and I finally stopped by last week. The outside is deceiving; this is a pretty large café. There is ample seating and I liked the corner in the back. We will have to investigate more next time. They have a gelato area to your left when you walk in, and I am interested in seeing how that will work in the warmer months. Outdoor eaters can enjoy the picnic tables and small patio area. They have a cooler case in the middle with refrigerated baked goods (cake rolls, cupcakes, things with buttercream), to-go chili/sauces/etc., and bottled drinks. The ordering area is lined with a long bakery case, full of all sorts of goodies. I was surprised by all the vegan alternatives and options; Vegan Outskirt sandwich, vegan breakfast sandwiches with Beyond Italian sweet sausage, vegan cheese, vegan mayo, vegan baked goods, vegan blueberry waffles, black bean burger, rolls are vegan, nondairy milks for coffee drinks. They are always adding new options if you stay tuned to their FB or Instagram. Even though we ate in, our food was served in to-go boxes. I hope they change this because I like to avoid waste. Nevertheless, we were satisfied with all our choices. They veganized their Italian sausage hoagie special for my mom, and she also enjoyed their coffee and a pastry heart. Dad got a s'mores cookie, diet Pepsi, and a tuna melt with turkey chili upgrade instead of chips on the side. I had the vegan outskirt sandwich, though the waffles for dinner were tempting. Breakfast is served all day too, which is always a bonus. The baked goods got rave reviews from my parents, and I look forward to trying their vegan treats. Our total was just over $30, which beats out chain "café" attempts, and the quality was exceptional. That focaccia bread alone will have me enjoying that sandwich over and over again. Service was typical for a café, and everyone was nice. I appreciate anyone who is patient with my dad-- he is very particular when it comes to onions being in things, and just a bit overbearing in general ;) To be honest, we did not expect too much out of this café. Everything blew us away and it was such a nice evening here. Alden is winning with this gem, and I am thankful they are looking out for us vegans too. read more

No matter where you are you have got to try this amazing Bakery & Cafe. We were looking for a coffee shop somewhere new and different. We found this one on line and drove out to Alden to try it. The location is quaint and cozy. The decor is warm and very inviting. The first thing you notice is the delicious looking fresh baked goods in the showcases. Then a warm and friendly young lady is ready to take your order. I tried the red pepper soup because of the great reviews. It lived up to its promise for sure. It was rich with flavor and very delicious. We also purchased an amazing Italian spice cookie that completed the lunch. They have a large selection and their prices are very very reasonable. Also their coffee is piping hot and they have a large selection of that as well. We bought one of their homemade zucchini breads that I'm sure we will enjoy. They also have Gluten free and Vegan options available. Try it and I'm sure you'll be back. read more
