There was only 1 employee working and she had a fancy drink order to prepare, as well as food, so a small line formed as she worked on the other customer's order. Stopped in for a quick little treat from one of my favorite spots in Buffalo. How can you not love tiny waffles and delicious drinks?? I grabbed an iced chai latte and a cookies and cream waffle for a quick snack. The latte was great and I enjoyed it with all their flavors they put into it. The cookies and cream waffle was incredible. Any fan of Oreos or cookies and cream would be in love with this treat. It was the perfect amount of sweet with it being balanced out with the waffle. The service here is always friendly and fast. I barely waited at all for my drink or the waffle. And it is the perfect little spot to sit and work or catch up with friends. With the location being over by Riverworks, it kind of feels off the beaten path and a little bit of a secret, which I also love. I will definitely be back for more! read more

Cute place located next to Riverworks. They offer a full breakfast and lunch menu. If you like waffles, you have to give this place a try. Most meal options are made on a waffle (they do offer alternatives to the waffle). I've been here a few times now and have liked everything that I've tried. The reasoning behind my 4 star review is that my meal and coffee came out lukewarm. I like to work from different places on the days that I work from home. I visited Wonder Coffeehouse for a catch up with a colleague, and it was such a cool spot! This shop is deceiving on the outside, and appeared smaller, but once you walk in, it's super spacious yet still gives off a cozy vibe. I ordered a white chocolate latte, which I've never had anywhere before, and it was just what I needed to start my day! I also indulged in a mini cinnamon waffle to go. They had a to-go case filled with different flavored waffles and they're like mini pastries. I think I did myself a disservice by not heating it up, because I feel like that really would have elevated the flavor. The service was friendly and prompt and I felt welcomed straight away. This is an adorable little coffee house and waffle shop over by Riverworks. I was struggling to find a cozy spot this winter and got fed up with the overcrowded options in the busier parts of town so I headed to the old first ward to try something off the beaten path. I was pleasantly surprised by Wonder! It doesn't look like much from the front, but when you go around back they're rocking the rustic look of the neighborhood with a little patio surrounded by old box cars. Inside, it's all deep wood, clean surfaces, and quirky decor. The place was warm even on a cold day, and the woman cleaning the tables welcomed me and made conversation right off the bat. She was happy and fun to talk with about everything from waffles to the weather. I placed my order and set up my laptop at a table, but my order arrived quickly, and oh my was it decadent! The food is super rich and heavy, so I took my time eating my bacon and waffle (perfectly cooked!) as well as sipping hot cocoa for about an hour before it started to get busy and I felt the need to free up the table. The vibes were chill, and the smell of the waffles cooking was super enticing even after I was full. I can't wait to go back this summer and sit outside when the weather is warm. read more

Best kept secret on the marina. Highly recommend for food and coffee. I saw someone felt the food was overpriced, I am from LA so 10 dollars seemed very reasonable to me. I ordered the Honey Lavender Latte which is my favorite back home and it was incredibly delicious here. So I looked at the place based on reviews of the surrounding area and it looked very inviting. However, it is overpriced and a novelty. The inside is nice and decorated for the Buffalo area but the offerings are misleading. I ordered the Monte Cristo and a Latte, since they didn't have Coke Zero, I chose to enjoy a coffee instead. The monte cristo was underwhelming, it had a few slices of Turkey, one slice of Prosciutto and hardly any Grier cheese. The waffle was very small and it was bearly a meal. The meal was $18 w/o a tip and it wasn't worth it. Finally, I looked at the silverware to stir the coffee and it had something green and nasty on it so I had to get a wooden stick to stir the coffee. In food service, cleanliness is everything immediately after customer service. It was not as impressive as the other ratings and since it's about a quality item and a great price, this place missed the mark for me. This is the cutest little coffee shop settled on the edge of an industrial Downtown Buffalo area, close to Buffalo Riverworks and the General Mills plant. The exterior is surrounded by shipping containers converted to seating space for customers, and inside a little brick building is where the magic happens. In addition to being your standard (but pretty fabulous) coffee shop, this place specializes in -- you'll never guess -- waffle creations! Taking waffles to a whole new level, Wonder offers delicious dishes with waffle bases. If you've never had waffles with avocado and pickled onions (the Millennial Fuel), this is the place to try! I really like that they offer online ordering from their website, and they even have a drive thru if you don't have time to sit and eat. i'm a loyal fan of this place but unless i get the caramel macchiato or little wonders, i'm always slightly disappointed :/ their grilled cheese was supposedly yummy but why put powdered sugar on the already sweet waffle for a Grilled CHEESE? and to combine that with a pretty sweet tomato soup was just...a lot of sugar for an expected to be savory lunch. kinda threw me off but i remain loyal. the other waffle meals i've tried are okay, expect them to be a bit small and overwhelming in one flavor instead of a balanced dish. the little wonders are always WONDERFUL. the coffee is on the weak side. the lemonade boba is okay but lacking in flavor mostly just sweet. the popping boba is what you can expect but i'm asian so i'm hard to satisfy lol. read more

five of us went to lunch there this spring they have a cute little gift shop in there most of us bought a gift. I bought a pretty top which I wore once and didn't realize that the sram was coming apart. I paid $30 for it. I came here they were closing. I was told to I call and she told me to send an email. I sent 3. no response. I just came in now again and talk to the daughter. After many reasons why they weren't going to do a darn thing I ended up going home with the blouse and being stuck with the damaged top. I like the shop. The food was good. It's very cute. Just don't buy anything from the gift shop. read more

This once desolate area is breathing with new life and Wonder Coffeehouse seems to be as much of a destination as grain elevator tourism, recreational opportunities, and the increasing number of apartments and breweries. Wonder Coffeehouse has been a staple of the Old First Ward neighborhood for a few years now. It was high time that I paid them a visit! Met some coworkers here to get some brainstorming done for a project, and we couldn't have chosen a more perfect spot. The shop was pretty quiet and has plenty of four-top tables -- perfect for getting work accomplished. I ordered an iced hibiscus tea, which I was stoked about because so many coffee shops only offer black or green tea. When lunchtime rolled around, I ordered the breakfast wrap, which came with egg, avocado, bacon, and cheese, and it was a-okay. My only gripe is that I wasn't a fan of the powdered sugar on top, but if you're a sweet and savory fan -- this will be your bag for sure. Next time, I'd definitely order one of their waffles and I kind of regret not doing that when I visited. I guess that gives me a perfect excuse to come back! read more

It's adorable inside and I love the set up especially the outside seating with the packing containers and lights. It's very cool and I approve! So they make waffles and seriously delicious ones at that. I got their chorizo breakfast special and it was so damn good wow. Impulse stop. Driving by early one morning and the open sigh was on. This was an impulse stop. I'd been at the outer harbor in the morning and was driving by here, when I saw the open sign. They do have a drive-thru, but I parked and went inside. I had a waffle and a coffee and it was good, the coffee was very good. They have indoor and outdoor seating and some of the outdoor seating, some covered, which is great of course, if it's really rainy or really sunny out. This is a very nice spot if you're down on the waterfront and want to find a coffee. read more

Wonder is one of my favorite coffee shops in Buffalo! Every time I stop by, it truly is like coming home. The waffles and drinks are absolutely delicious! The owners, Kate and Joe, and all of the staff are always friends and inviting! I love it every time I stop by, I am sure you will too! I have several favorites at Wonder, The Captain Obvious and The Millennial Fuel are two of my favorite waffles! The Captain Obvious is an Egg, Bacon, and Maple Syrup all on their housemade Liege Waffles. I personally have mine made into a sandwich instead of open faced, both are amazing! The Millennial Fuel is Avocado Toast with Pickled Red Onions, Goat Cheese, and a Egg on top of a Waffle! Everything is SO good! The Liege Waffles have a slightly thicker consistency and are always warm and freshly made. My go to drink is the Chai Latte, sweet and delicious both hot or cold! Wonder Coffeehouse is truly one of a kind. There is also an amazing selection of merchandise for sale, including mugs, t-shirts, and so much more! My friend recommended this place. It is a super cute place next to riverworks. Prefect for a summer morning and afternoon to just have a cup of coffee and try some waffles! There is indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the Iced Caramel Macchiato and the "I mean duh" waffle which was strawberry and Nutella. Unexpected surprise of seeing different items available for purchase. My mom and I stopped in after her mid-afternoon doctor appointment. We both just wanted something small, so we decided to order the Pioneer ( waffle, blueberries and brie). The presentation of the waffle was elegant and top notch. They have homey, creative coffee options, rustic, Buffalonian memorabilia to the side, and are known for their waffle options that'll leave even the most decisive person dumbfounded towards what they should get. To come to Wonder is to get a dose of peace. They have endless, cozy seating options, begging you to pop a squat & hang around. Its location & setup are the real selling points though. Sandwiched in between the Buffalo Harbor Channel & Buffalo River, Wonder finds itself on its own, little, quiet peninsula, in the midst of factories & railroads, so sometimes I just go to sit, read, and watch the trains go by. With the all the buzz surrounding Wonder Coffeehouse in the First Ward, I was finally able to sneak in a visit this past Sunday and I absolutely loved the entire setup and can't wait to go back! It's in an industrial part of the city with shipping containers and inside is such a quaint ambiance....it's also fairly large with plenty of space per COVID-19 considerations. With an outdoor patio as well! They have all sorts of espresso drinks, coffee drinks, coffee shakes and an incredible looking waffle menu. There is also a drive through! I wasn't hungry during this particular visit and only caught a double espresso over ice, but you can bet with the friendly employees, the beautiful ambiance side and the delicious coffee, I'll be back to try more! We've been meaning to make it down to Wonder Coffeehouse since it opened and it was definitely worth stopping in. I absolutely love everything about this place. From the shipping containers outside to the mix of elegant and industrial theme inside. The staff was so incredibly nice, even walking our coffees out to us while we were waiting. The coffee itself is sourced from Steamworks in Lockport, which is one of my favorite WNY coffee shops. We ordered an Americano and a pumpkin spice latte between us and both were excellent, my husband remarked how good his coffee was several times while we were enjoying our coffee. We only ordered the Lucky Chatms waffle during this visit, but it gave us a small (and delicious) taste of what they offer and we are looking forward to going again. We had a very mild November day today so we ended up sitting outside in one of the shipping containers. They also had heat lamps near the other outdoor tables. With inside dining being shutdown again tomorrow d/t COVID, these areas will still be a nice area to enjoy your treats barring rain, super cold weather and the dreaded "s" word. This shop definitely has it all. Good coffee and food. Excellent decor and ambiance and friendly staff. What's not to love about that? They also have some super cute store branded merchandise. I was in Buffalo for three weeks and went to Wonder Coffeehouse twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. Both experiences were GREAT! The name is Wonder COFFEEhouse and the coffee is great but the waffles are even better! We should probably rename this Yelp listing as Wonder Coffee and Wafflehouse. Walking in, I was truly blown away at how cute this place is. From old coffee makers to Buffalo-themed apparel and mugs, I seriously stopped in my tracks and whipped out my camera. When we made it to the register, I needed a few minutes to select my waffle of choice because they all sounded so great. I decided on the Monte Cristo while my mom ordered the I Mean, Duh. -Monte Cristo: Gruyere, raspberry jam, turkey, prosciutto -I Mean, Duh: Nutella, strawberries (or banana), whipped topping, chocolate sauce -The Millenial Fuel: Avocado "toast" with avocado smash, goat cheese, pickled red onions -The Captain Obvious: Egg, bacon, maple syrup When we returned another day, we both ordered the Pioneer. -Pioneer: Brie & blueberry grilled cheese -The Wonder-Full: Three waffles with up to six toppings of your choice -There is S'mores: Waffle with cookie buttle, chocolate sauce, and toasted marshmallows -Classic Grilled Cheese I wanted more, more, more during both visits. I was tempted to get a waffle "cookie" to go but resisted. The standard coffee was definitely up-to-par and my mom loved the coffee shake. They also have ice cream waffle sandwiches which I'd love to go back and try someday. Free parking, free wifi, indoor and outdoor seating, bathrooms, etc. Double-check the hours by calling (COVID-times, nothing is certain). According to the young man working during our first visit, Wonder Coffehouse opened in December 2019 (closed for a short period due to Coronavirus) and customers from all over frequent this great place, despite its location in an industrial part of town/near Riverworks.
