This is amazing, has a wonderful pool, near the ocean and has a great view. The tennis court is huge and the showers are warm, has balcony's on all floors and a small store, the hotel rooms are spacious.

My favorite place to stay on vacation, the rooms are very clean, comfy beds, beautiful views, very warm pools, very nice staff. Overall best place to stay.

This place has gone down the tubes. Friday night for the Bolts game, Cabana bar closed to a full bar at 9pm. Told us they aren't a sports bar. Asked the bartender on a different night about 9pm closing and he said no they should stay open for something like that. Also forget housekeeping. We were there 4 days and never had a housekeeper clean our room. We used pool towels and went to the front desk for toilet paper. Now the cart sat on our floor for 2 days but no one was around. See picture of everyone putting bags of garbage and towels out.

This resort is definitely the best bang for your buck on St Petersburg beach front. Having stayed at the trade winds and coral reef next door, for the price I paid for Alden's, it simply can't be beat. This review is being written in May of 2017 and their currently is renovations going on. Personally it didn't bother me at all, the only way things will get updated is if the men work. It's either close the whole resort or have them work around it being open and populated. So if SOME noise on weekdays is gonna bug you, spend a lot more and stay next door. The two pools on site were clean and a great spot for during the day. Jacuzzi was also clean. I stayed in the king room, which was huge. Had a full kitchen, nice comfy bed, television and a couch. A big dressing room cabinet and kitchen table with chairs. Plentiful for one person. My only complaints would be the bathroom. It was in need of an update. And there was only one place on site to eat, snappers, which is an affiliated food truck from the resto across the street from Alden. I did try it and the food was very very good, but might be pricey. $11 for a food truck hamburger is pricey for some people. I however enjoyed it. Some amenities include beach volleyball, shuffle board, basketball court, ping pong and a on site convenience store. 7/11 also in walking distance. The yellow exterior paint here does make the place look old and I'm sure it is an older building, but I've stayed in much worse for a lot more $. I feel you must give this place at least one chance before making a decision. I will definitely be returning in the coming years!

The little things really do count. On first look Alden Suites: A Beachfront Resort seems a bargain. While any stay in a beachfront hotel these days will cost you a nice chunk of change, Alden Suites is a little less than similar properties in the St. Pete Beach/Treasure Island area. The room we had is in the newly renovated tower and is nice! It has a nice bedroom as you walk in the door, with large, comfy beds. The room has a door to close if off from the rest of the "suite" which includes a spacious bathroom, vanity area and living room/kitchen. The kitchen has new appliances including a range with 4 burners and an oven. The suite really is nice! The property itself shows a slight bit of age, but honestly, I don't have any problems with it. There is a nice ping pong table, 2 shuffleboard courts, tennis courts, a basketball court, a sandy cornhole court and sand volleyball. Add in 2 pools, large hot tub and a beachside, open-air bar and you understand why it's a fun resort! However, it really is the little things that determine if you will return to and/or recommend a hotel. We came from close-by for a 24 hour getaway. While we drove it started storming. When we arrived the desk clerk asked about our drive. My wife said: "Oh it was fine. A little rainy, but not bad really." The clerk then began lecturing us on how when we are given lemons, we have to make lemonade. At one point I was in the lobby and listened in horror as 3 employees began griping about several of the guests and their requests, RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! We checked out the ping pong equipment during the rain. When I went to return it to the little on-property store, there was no one at the counter. Behind the counter was an office whose door was wide open. Maybe 10 feet from my son and I sat a back office worker. He never acknowledged us as we waited until I finally said: "Excuse me." I explained we needed to return the equipment and get our room card. He then only said: "Oh, she'll be back in a few minutes." and returned to ignoring us. The next morning it was storming again. (This is NOT Alden Suites fault. Just want you to have context for this next part.) We needed milk for our children's cereal. At 9:18 a.m. I walked to the on-property store attached to the lobby which "opened" at 9:00. It was not open yet though. I walked into the lobby and asked when the store would open. The female clerk VERY casually said: "Yeah, it's probably gonna be 20 more minutes or so." She asked if she could help with anything. I explained our milk need. Her response: "Well there's a 7/11 down the street." So, I had to walk to the 7/11 in the storms. Never once did she say: "I'm sorry." or offer to go in the store, grab some milk and charge our room. Wow! Somewhere along the line, customers became a necessary evil to a lot of the U.S. service industry. That is sad and tough to take. So, bottom line, while the rooms are nice and the property is more than adequate, I cannot recommend Alden Suites in St. Pete Beach. Had anyone here gone the extra distance to make us feel wanted and welcome, I might feel differently. But it just did not happen. The little things really do count and when they are not there, it leaves a really bad taste in your mouth.

I can't wait to come back! We had the perfect getaway at Alden Suites! Our suite had everything we needed to have a comfortable stay, the staff was friendly and accommodating and there was more great food and adventurous activities than we could fit it! Alden set us up with Suncoast Watersports and we parasailed, paddle boarded and took the dolphin cruise.. it was unforgettable. Seriously can't wait to come back... we watched dolphins play in the calm St. Pete Beach waters during coffee from our balcony in the morning.. that's something I have to do again! Definitely recommend

I can't wait to come back! Was in town for a wedding which was taking place at the resort next door, and Alden was more than half the price they were offering with the wedding discount. We were able to just walk across the sand to the wedding, and stumble back after a great evening of drinking and dancing. The resort is pretty big, a few buildings and bungalows. We stayed in the Nassau building, facing the pool. From the balcony I could see the beach and the intercoastal. Our room was funny to me, a suite with the beds where you first walk in, and the living/dining area in the back of the unit. I am guessing it is this way so you can take advantage of the darkness, as the bedroom area has a smaller window and the living room has the sliders to the balcony. Either way, it works! I wish we had more time to take advantage of the bar on the beach and the pools (there are two pools and a jacuzzi), or even partake in some shuffle board! Oh well, there's always next time! Also, at check out, the front desk attendant informed me they have showers in the lobby restrooms, so we could stay as long as we liked after check out to enjoy the beach and their amenities and shower/clean up before we head out. He also offered to hold our luggage if needed, and we did not need to move the car after check out (parking is free too!). Pretty sweet!

The term "Resort" is used very lightly in this case. It is a glorified hotel that badly needs updating! The only good thing is the location, right on St. Petersburgs beach. I nearly give this a one star, dirty, old, and again needs updates. Pics added for this resort, back of flat screen tv's have enough dust to cause a fire.

Didn't pay extra for a beach view!

Is there "Free Parking" here? I know there is "Private Parking" for $15 a day, but is there any free parking?

Even if you are a guest there, at The Alden, you pay for parking. It's worth it. Lovely place to relax. Walkable to so many places. Will be staying there again.

The front desk staff was rude and not very welcoming. Also, don't expect an early check-in unless you're willing to pay for a room upgrade. It definitely felt like they were trying to push upgrades just to get into your room before 3:30 PM or later. One of the biggest frustrations was the elevators. Usually only one was working, which led to 20+ minute waits constantly. Guests were visibly frustrated and many just gave up and took the stairs. The food was probably the best part of the stay, along with the fact that they provide beach chairs. However, the food service was extremely slow every single time. The rooms were dirty and old. We found hair, dust, dirt, and built-up grime throughout the room. The entire place smelled musty and like cigarette smoke. Everything I mean was broken... the toilet, the light switches, the AC, the doors, and more. If you're staying here, keep your expectations low. The only positive for families is that they do offer some decent activities for kids.

I think the pool was salt water or least wasn't overly chlorinated and still seemed clean. Only concern was that the "hot tub" was not at all hot. It was slightly warm to room temp. Unfortunately, the noise level significantly impacted our stay. We were in Room 28, and directly behind the room is a hallway used by staff from the upstairs bar. Throughout the first night, we heard a heavy door repeatedly slamming and staff using rolling carts to transport trash. The noise continued until about 3:00 a.m., making it very difficult to sleep. The next morning, I expressed my concerns to the front desk. He was polite, apologized, and said he would pass the information along. However, the noise resumed again the following night. Around 11:30 p.m., I stepped into the hallway and observed someone pulling trash on one of the carts; they did not appear interested in engaging when I tried to address it. Closer to midnight, after another loud door slam, I spoke with a different staff member who was very receptive and respectful. After that conversation, the noise level did decrease. I understand that hotel operations continue behind the scenes, but for a property positioned as an upscale boutique experience, I would expect better late-night noise control -- especially in rooms directly adjacent to service areas. The hotel has a lot of potential, and the cleanliness was excellent. However, due to the repeated overnight noise disruption, I would be hesitant to stay in that location of the property again.
