This hotel is honestly a 2-star experience at best, and I have no idea how it's rated as a 4-star property. The entire place feels outdated, rundown, grimy, and poorly maintained. The front desk staff was rude and not very welcoming. Also, don't expect an early check-in unless you're willing to pay for a room upgrade. It definitely felt like they were trying to push upgrades just to get into your room before 3:30 PM or later. One of the biggest frustrations was the elevators. Usually only one was working, which led to 20+ minute waits constantly. Guests were visibly frustrated and many just gave up and took the stairs. The food was probably the best part of the stay, along with the fact that they provide beach chairs. However, the food service was extremely slow every single time. The rooms were dirty and old. We found hair, dust, dirt, and built-up grime throughout the room. The entire place smelled musty and like cigarette smoke. Everything I mean was broken... the toilet, the light switches, the AC, the doors, and more. If you're staying here, keep your expectations low. The only positive for families is that they do offer some decent activities for kids. read more

This place has it all!! From fine dining, to pizza, chi fil a, burgers and fries. A huge water side for kids and kids at heart. Steps away from beach and some the biggest in tac shells that I have ever seen in my life. Several pools, a modest weight room. If you choose not to eat or drink at hotel there are so many other options to choose from. Ada helped us at front desk she was so kind a true Superstar!!! Cannot comment on this establishment as a guest but I came here for an interview and I was amazed at how welcoming everyone was and how willing they were to help and answer any questions I had. Tradewinds is a 3 - 4 star motel that has been remodeled and reworked aa much as possible. It would seem they tuened 2 rooms into 1. The biggest issue is that there is only 1 set of elevators. Very old ones! The room was prerty great, it had a front sitting room and back bedrom. There is a small balcony which was pretty awesome! The shower had multiple show heads which I just enjoyed playing with all the shower control's. I felt like a shower DJ turning knobs switch shower heads. There was also dishes included, a small cook top, mini fridge, microwave, and coffee pot. The property was pretty great. Right on the Beach offering wonderful views. They have paddle boats that run thought the property. There is 3 pools in the main area. Alcohol prices here are very expensive! There seems to be events happening all around the property at different times. You will have to pay close attention as not allbthe restaurants are open at the same time and few were still closed. The pool bar offers burgers which are alright but nothing to brag about. read more

I stayed in a "villa" at island grand. It was just two adjoining hotel rooms. Fancy name for dated crap. The drop ceiling in the bathroom was caving in...just scary! This cost me over 1k per night. They only fill up the big slide occasionally. My grandkids were so disappointed that they never could go on that slide the four days we were there. I constantly see their commercials, and am always sadly reminded that i still feel totally ripped off. There are so many better places to stay in this area. Don't go here! read more

This review is for their Christmas buffet. We enjoyed this for years and was very sad when it stopped due to COVID. Everyplace else was opening up and Tradewinds moved to a plated meal instead of their lavish and beautiful holiday buffet. We had to find another one and it was really subpar. Not the quality or variety of TradeWinds, small and cramped and the year after it went downhill from there. We vowed we could not go back. What could we do? When what to my wondering eyes should appear, but the tradewinds buffet brunch, there on the webpage, a glorious site to See. I blinked and hoped I had not made a mistake, an old archived site, but no, it said 2023! YESSS! This, my friends, is a real holiday buffet, the way so many were that were lost. This buffet is back and is THE One. I was so happy to see Tradewinds was Back!!!! In all its glory. You can see my photos. This was a brunch, technically, so breakfast items too. French toast Omelette station Bacon and sausage Ham Pastries Fresh fruit display Smoked fish Turkey in gravy Carving station with prime rib and LAMB. Au jus and mint jelly. Mashed potatoes Stuffing with cranberries Chicken breast with cherry jam compote Cobia with crab Pasta station Charcuterie Cheese display Shrimp, mussels, crawfish under ice sculptures Salad display Dessert tables with chocolate fountain: cheesecake, pecan pie, carrot cake, red velvet, flourless chocolate cake, apple pie, and more. Victorian Santa and elves. No boisterous HoHo Ho. Class and gentility. Lovely music. No harpist this time but music was soft and tasteful. This is how it should be. Resort scheduled a 12 day concert on the beach, around the dunes during nesting season where the turtles navigate to lay eggs. This beach is a critical nesting area for threatened black skimmers and sea turtles. But Tradewinds prefers to endanger our Florida wildlife and put profit before environmental responsibility and stewardship. They went so far as to obtain a permit that would shield organizers from liability if state-threatened shorebirds are harmed during the event. If you care about what actually makes this state beautiful, stay somewhere else that has an ounce of respect for our wildlife. read more

This resort offers a number of amenities and activities. However, it has become a bit dated. There are plans for a major renovation to take place over 20 years, in about 4 phases. The main building is in need of that renovation asap. If the renovated bathroom at the Breckenridge building is an indication of things to come, I am all for it. One word...Elevators! Nuf said. They say location is everything. That is true and this resort has it. The beach area is immense with a ton of cabanas, a small zipline run, 4 person slide, third party water activities, etc. read more

We stayed at TradeWinds Island Grand this week- Jan 2026. Our stay was AMAZING! the resort was beautiful, welcoming and lively. All staff we encountered were so friendly and helpful and made us feel safe and welcome. Our room was excellent. Complementary beach chairs and umbrella, champagne when we arrived. Comfortable clean room. The property was constantly being cleaned and maintained by staff and there was always someone available to help. The location was perfect t. Listen to the bad reviews! The safety of their quests is non existent! The phone at the front desk goes unanswered. When there was a boil water alert the quests at the Rumfish were NOT notified. Flyers were posted on their other properties next door but NOT at the Rumfish. The elderly, families with young children, people in general not to mention their pets, all were not notified in a timely manner or at all! Imagine waking up in the morning and making coffee , brushing your teeth and showering in potentially contaminated water!!! I complained and wrote and have never heard back! read more

Worst vacation ever ! Paid premium for partial ocean view 3 rooms for our family months in advance with simple request to have them close together. They gave us resort view with each room on different floor...really! Resort is outdated and in disrepair with a moat around it that smells. Check in today and so far not impressed. The grounds need some love. Between a lot of broken things and old decor. Its suppose to be an all inclusive but the water obstacle course is not. My heart sank because it was one of the selling features for my kiddos. After spending the $$$$ for the room, resort fee, parking fees and all the taxes. I could not spend $40 a person for the kids to play on it. We didn't find out until we swam out and the lifeguard told us. Very disappointed in the advertising and the greediness of the resort. Only pro for this resort is location, that is what you are overpaying for with this dated hotel. Think Holiday Inn Holidome from 1980's placed on a beach. Everything is outdated. Restrooms through out the resort are not well maintained. Staff were not helpful or friendly and often times standing around and speaking to one another instead of helping clients. Not cleanly, the chairs around the pools were covered in food, bird droppings and assorted unknown filth. My son had an injury and had to be on crutches and a scooter and much of the hotel and area only have stairs versus ramps to get around which was very difficult for him. Also significant additional fees that are not disclosed with their already overinflated room prices, expect to pay $80 to $100 more in fees each day over their posted room costs. This was our first time at Trade Winds and will certainly be our last. We enjoy traveling and as a family we have been to dozen and dozens of results and Trade Winds easily comes in at the worst resort destination we have ever visited. read more

We were told this was an upscale great resort for a family with teen children. Definitely NOT upscale. Between the poor service and the outdated amenities, we would never go back. The rooms have doors that don't close, NO phones in the room to the front desk, bedside tables that drawers don't shut, daily cleaning service that comes at 5:30pm. The slide was shut down for the day. They decided to change the propane gas system during the day at the buoy bar poolside restaurant so NO hot food could be served. My sister and her family were meeting us and there room wasn't ready until 5pm. The gym which they state is state of the art has completely outdated gym equipment and if you are at the Tradewinds you need to go to the rumfish to work out at the gym. I could go on an on but I will leave it at once is too many times at the Tradewinds. read more

My husband and I were approached by a timeshare representative during a local festival. We filled out a form with our contact information after being told we could receive a free cruise just for attending a short presentation. Curious and open to the idea of a getaway, we agreed to a tour at the TradeWinds Resort in St. Peter Beacv. The sales person walked us through the property, we were not impressed. During our visit, we were given a voucher for food at the café, which was a nice touch, and we sat through a timeshare presentation. The staff was professional and friendly, but we ultimately decided that purchasing a timeshare was not right for us. After the presentation, we followed up to redeem the cruise certificate we were promised. Unfortunately, this is where the experience became disappointing. When we tried to use the certificate, we were offered only one date in September--a date that we were not available for. There was no flexibility, no alternative dates, and no real effort to accommodate our schedule, which made it feel like the offer was more of a bait-and-switch than a legitimate reward. The lack of transparency and follow-through regarding the promotional cruise left a bad impression. I would advise others to read all the fine print carefully and manage expectations if you're considering one of these offers. It's not truly "free" if you're unable to use it. TradeWinds should consider not partnering with timeshare companies. read more

Be careful with Blue Green packages being sold by the hotel directly!! They sold a package and then say you can't use because it's under repair for months but the resorts are all opened back up a few weeks later. 7 months for repairs! sure! we are local and have been coming to this group of resorts for 30 years ! When I arrived, they told me they had no room available--even though I had a confirmed reservation. I waited 40 minutes while they found a room for another traveler, but they offered me no assistance whatsoever. No effort to find another property, no compensation--nothing. They simply left us stranded in St. Pete Beach. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. If you're considering staying here, beware: your reservation may mean nothing. read more

Stayed at the Island Grand. I was only there for a long weekend and this place was perfect if you aren't expecting luxury. Service was great. Brook, the pool side waitress was wonderful! The drinks are def expensive. The place is right on the beach. Pools could be a little bigger and people do reserve chairs so be prepared. There is always something going on from live music to water activity rentals. Only one set of elevator which takes forever. The room was Just okay- but it was only used to sleep and shower. Didn't try any of the food places located but there is plenty to choose from. If you are looking for an inexpensive place on the beach book here. There is a lot of families and kids during the summer months- so be prepared for jumping and splashing in the pool. read more

We booked rumfish. Was told the exact room would be $500 cheaper than being at TradeWinds. It was however, most of the action is at TradeWinds. Guess it's a few minute walk from beach but if u aren't coming from beach, it's a long, hot, not very easy walk from rumfish to TradeWinds. Food was fine but expensive at both resorts. I find the main pools to be small for the size of the resorts. My kids went down large slide once and said too much sand and it hurt coming down. Carolyn at Rumfish's beach was fantastic setting us up with beach chairs. We hugged us second day. She was so personable and taught my daughter how to make jewelry with some of the shells she found. Very different experience than the kid at TradeWinds that wasn't friendly, took forever to bring the umbrella and told me I needed to get my own towels. Resort didn't look like videos I saw online but Hurricane did hit only 1 year ago. I found rooms on 2nd floor need some updating. Ac sounds like it will go out at any time. When it's on, you are freezing, when it's off, you are hot. 1st floor rooms are currently getting renovated. Elevator was out. . We didn't have a bad experience but I was expecting the resort to keep my teens occupied and it did not. We enjoyed a Tampa Rays game and a day at Busch Gardens. Personal experience. I don't think we will be back. There was good and bad which I think you can find everywhere. read more

Amazing location and nice restaurants, but the 45$ a night PLUS TAX resort fee is ridiculous since Covid closed the Rumfish resort amenities/ bars/ restaurants too (except Rumfish restaurant). Plus no s'mores or beach yoga. I think it's robbery to charge guests a mandatory 45 a night fee at check in. Also didn't appreciate the push for the time share at the beginning or push to upgrade rooms for above website rates at check in. Our bed had a regular sheet, rather than fitted so it's loosely laying on the mattress. If it weren't for the astronomical resort fee, I'd rate this as a solid 3.5/4. The room was in good shape and no complaints there. Do Not Recommend - Serious Safety Issue I strongly advise families to avoid this resort. During our stay, my son was seriously injured when a heavy marble dresser -- which was not properly secured to the wall -- tipped over and crushed him. He required urgent medical attention as a result. Instead of taking responsibility or showing genuine concern, the resort's staff offered our children three free ice creams -- as if that would make up for such a traumatic incident. Worse yet, they tried to blame my son for "pulling down" the dresser, which was absolutely not the case. This was a preventable accident caused by negligence, and I wouldn't want any other family to go through what we experienced. Please think twice before booking here. read more

What a lovely, low-key resort! Some friends were staying at their timeshare there, so I came to spend the day with them. I paid for some fish tacos and fries at the pool bar restaurant and chilled by the beach cabanas and had a very relaxing, socially-distanced day. Great prices given the location and portion. My favorite part though? The mini lagoon that surrounds part of the resort, swans and duckies included! Patrons are able to rent out a paddle boat for rides. Can be very romantic and/or fun. Rooms: very spacious, with great kitchenettes and even better views if staying in the owner's building (I think that's the official name? It's the building furthest back fron the main resort entrance/ lobby. Very fun day. Clean surroundings and easy to socially distance frescoes since iterations not following the guidelines at the pool (we simply started away from them). Masks were required to be worn when inside the buildings, though. Gave us peace of mind. All in all, wouldn't hesitate to recommend this resort to other friends visiting the area. Pricing a bit up there, but it's one of the nicer, yet not too pricey "chain" hotels in St Pete Beach. read more

Pros: when we arrived the resort accommodated us with rooms next to each other. The rooms themselves were ok. Could be worse, could be so much better. There were nice amenities and activities offered, although the hurricane's impact could be felt. Not everything was up and running. Breakfast at the restaurant was great. Lunch and dinner options were ok but one child is a vegetarian so breakfast was their only meal they could eat at the restaurant as there were limited options except a salad . Staff were all very nice. The website makes it look and seem was more luxurious than it is in person. The beach was beautiful and well maintained and lots of cool shells for kids to find. Cons: restaurants food options limited if you don't eat meat or seafood. The restaurant or poolside is the only food options on the resort besides the little cafe that has some snacks and pastries but the food was good. Our door mechanism broke trying to get back from breakfast 45 min before a paid excursion. We thought we wouldn't make it. They had to drill into our door to get us in and we eventually made it by two min. The bathroom tub was a little moldy and there was no hot water. The hottest it got was a little above luke warm. When we first arrived our room smelled very weird, but our kids' room did not. It was a mix of musty, moldy type smell. Staff came up and febreezed it but it never went away. The town itself is still trying to get back up and running post hurricane so there wasn't much to do nearby except some restaurants. Leaving, their systems were down and they couldn't print us an itemized statement. On top of the cost to stay, there are per room per day resort fees, daily parking fee, and amenities fees per room which adds up and not sure the value of those fees is worth the experience and offerings, especially right now during this time of year and hurricane impact. read more

Ok so where do I start. When you check in this place it is exciting. The service is unbelievable. Tom was super informative and gave so much information about the property. He was amazing!! Tiff from Denver was super fun!! We were super excited about the property after speaking with them both. Once we check into our room that's when things changed. The room is subpar at best. We had a suite as we had 4 people in our party. The room had a stove, dishwasher and microwave, all very old. The beds were decent, no major complaints. The television was a 32 inch... the bathroom was old and outdated like the whole room. There was an area with a sofa bed in our room but again it was sub par (there is a second tv). I was a little disappointed as they tout a resort but there's not much to it. Do not come here if you plan to sleep in past 10am and relax. This is a loud, party resort. With the pools full of children and music from a loud speaker and workers talking very loud starting at 7am, you will never be able to sleep (room 2502)... Outside on the beach there is a blow up slide that I've seen at the Acworth Geogia beach and the cabanas are pretty nice but not much more than that. There is a makeshift zipline but it was down. My kids said they weren't interested when it was fixed. My daughter enjoyed the nightly smores at the sister resort approximately 1 beach block away and the surfer wave is EXTREMELY overated. It is literally a blow up balloon with a rider surfboard. There are multiple pools on property but they were full of kids. I love the pool but there were so many kids. There is one adult pool which was nice. There are a couple of restaurants on property (pizza hut, the flying bridge & saltys) but again they are pay as you go and not very cheap. $13 per drink is what we spent at each location (I loved the sea legs) and regarding food you will spend at least $20 per person. I ordered the grouper sandwich (at the flying bridge)with fries at the flying bridge and it was really good ($22). Beware of the birds!! If you sit outside you will be accosted by birds. They are aggressive!! We sat inside at the flying bridge and a bird flew inside on the table!! They have little strings up but they arent the fix. All in all, we spent $2600 ( room and food) for 4 days for 4 people. Thats expensive for what was offered. I was told at checkout that the company is in the process of doing a billion dollar upgrade. They sure need it.. on the last day....I went to woodys offsite.. I wish I had've found them earlier in the week. On another note the beach is directly behind the hotel which was nice I went there aroung 10pm and saw the big and little dipper. read more

The stay here was like being on a cruise ship that didn't move. Lots of activities, dining options, and places to cool off. The breakfast was nice. The buffet was pretty thorough. The bloody Mary options were clutch. The coffee was meh. I would have loved a latte or americano. The beach had something new and fresh going on evEry day. And ALWAYS a huge slide to enjoy as long as you have your wrist band on. The resort itself is very large and composed of many buildings. They give you a map when you arrive. I would suggest that you make it a point to go walk the entire property before you do anything else. This will allow you to scope out the best pool, best dining location, best bar, for your personality. Make sure to wear your wristbands. The security team seems to take their job serious and there are lots of employees walking the complex. Parking was easy. read more

I came here as part of a Bachelorette crew so we solemnly spent time in the room other than to sleep and get cleaned/dressed. Service: When we first arrived our parking situation was odd as our group was never told about the limited parking permit per suite being for 1 car although we had about 6 people per room. Thankfully the front desk was willing to give additional permits to accomodate. The few interactions we did have with staff they were friendly and helpful if we needed directions or help. We had our room cleaned super well and nicely while in and out for events. Rooms: Pretty good for the location by the beach and worth it if splitting with numerous people to make the cost less high. But can be pricey otherwise so depends on your priority if it's easy access to the beach and a decent room perfect. If it's a gorgeous room with above and beyond amenities and you like to be in your room most of the time it's okay. read more
