And, in this economy, there is no reason to shop at any other grocery store in the DMV. Aldi does not price gouge unlike other chain grocers. Their stores are clean, well organized, well stocked, the selection is amazing, there are many high quality items including organic & grass fed, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Shout out to one of the stockers for his assistance today, and the sweet cashier, Lucretia. She made checkout a breeze and was really nice and had a big smile on her face. I believe that many of the competitors are 75% hype and "marketing"; you can literally get many of the same things at Aldi for a fraction of the cost of what you'd pay at the fancy chains, e.g., amazing cheeses, quality breads, meats, produce, etc. Over the years I've shopped at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Mom's, Natural Grocers (west coast), Sprouts, Wegman's, Harris Teeter, etc., and these stores can't compare to Aldi. When I read the labels for many things I'd normally buy elsewhere, there isn't a huge difference. The fact that I can get most of what I need at Aldi makes it worth the trip and I don't mind going to another store to fill any voids. There is ample parking in their lot, and be sure to bring a quarter for the shopping cart (you get it back when you return it). Also, bring your own bags. read more

They always have what I need and if not, I try something new they bring as they are known for changing lots of the merchandise to seasonal items. Honestly reading these reviews is very funny to me it's as if people had a bad day and want to take it out on the Aldi yelp review LOL SO much so ridiculous that I never really leave reviews but personally I will go out my way to write this and give this store 5 stars I've been coming to this location since I've moved in the area for about 5 years and I'm always pleased with the store great parking and great selection of products. I also do Instacart shopping in my free time and have been to most of the Aldi in the area this one is the best organized in my opinion and I feel like they restock the shelves frequently - This insures me that produce etc must be fresh because they are literally restocking 2-3X a day. Generally I can't remember buying anything that has expired within a day everything lasts for me. Everyone in here is always nice when I come in and some of them even remember me (or pretend to haha) when I'm in the store and that gives good customer service to me they seem like they enjoy their jobs and I've never had a bad interaction with any of the associates. So glad we have an Aldi really close to our new place! If you're unfamiliar with Aldi they're a European grocery store, with a wine & beer section, fresh produce, and European store brand and high quality products. They've got pretty much everything you need at great and very reasonable prices. This particular location is very busy so it's clearly very good/popular. My only complaint would be that they need more cashiers. Luckily most Aldi cashier work very quickly since they don't bag/sort your purchases (remember to bring your reusable bags!) :) read more

Grocery shopping is always awful so you might as well save some money in the process. This place has great prices, is no frills, and is smaller than most stores so you're hopefully in and out faster. They have mostly store brands of stuff mixed with some normal brands. I've liked all the store brand stuff I've tried so far. They didn't have a ton of registers open when I was there so the lines were long, but more manageable than Trader Joe's. They also now take credit cards so that's a plus. Be sure and check the store hours before heading out since they aren't open as long as most stores. I'll be back here and hopefully remember a quarter for the shopping cart and the reusable bags since they don't have plastic or paper bags here. read more

This is the Aldi that I frequent the most and I don't have any issues with this store. Like all Aldi's in general, I am a fan of their super cheap prices and their unexpected finds such as cute little snack packs and ready to go meals. Their cake & brownie mixes and frostings are my favorite and I am so surprised how cheap they are for how delicious they taste. Now Aldi's brand is the only one I buy unless the regular grocery store has some major sales. I also like the meat selection here - I find great deals on a roast or ribs. I have no issues with the employees here. All the cashiers are friendly and they always greet me with a smile and say have a good day. I see tons of really bad reviews. I'm assuming the people who gave this location a 1 star, have clearly never been to an Aldi in a predominantly minority neighborhood. Try it, and this location will seem like the Bloomingdales of Aldi. Although small, I spent quite a while roaming the labyrinth of a layout. I was surprised by all the fancy cheeses, variety of wines, huge fresh avocados and general cleanliness. I'm taking off a star because unlike some other locations, they don't have boxes for people to put their items in. I had avocados wildly rolling around my cart. Pls reach out to Trader Joe's for advice even if lines are super long they go very fast Bc there are multiple registers open so you don't "feel" the wait. In aldi you are going to feel every bit of the 39 min you are in line Bc the two lines go from the front to the back by the eggs and "impossibly" sign. It would be one thing if every register was open with long lines. But peak times two registers and no self checkout. Not only are you asking for a high turnover rate Bc your employees are gonna quit. I can't believe an Aldi opened up in the Fairlington area! Before you start hating, just note that this grocery chain is sisters with Trader Joe's! The grocery carries limited brand names, mostly generic/Aldi-produced food items, as well as other specialty items. I love how this place is super suped up, with the high ceilings, wooden beams, and hip signs! Prices are great - I am a fan of their baked goods and treats, baking ingredients (such as the cake mixes, sprinkles, and the frosting), their Happy Farms' soft cheeses, the Savoritz's Sea Salt Pita Crackers, the Moser Roth's Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch, Mama Cozzi's pizzas, as well as the party tubs of ice cream. Don't forget to bring your reusable grocery bags (as you would have to dish out a few more cents for the store's plastic ones) - the friendly staff were passing out Aldi reusable grocery cloth bags in celebration of their opening day - YAY! There were also some samples, such as their cheeses, crackers, chocolates, and muffin snacks. Aldis is one of our go to shopping spots, especially when it comes to meat. Occasionally they will have avocados for $.50 as well. Their produce is always a pretty solid deal as well as the best cottage cheese I have ever had LOL They are related to Trader Joe's and have some high-quality products if take a good look. read more

This is the ALDI closest to North Arlington so I swing by here. The parking lot is really calm. There's a convenient CVS next door. ALDI is good for German chocolates, big bottles of oil, staples like vinegars and cans of food. I see a lot of families come in here to buy snacks like cookies, nuts, candy, cereal and potato chips as they are also sold at a discounted rate. I come regularly for their excellent German coffee (super cheap, under $5) and I've found some awesome German cakes and bottled cherries here at times. The trick is to look for what is good on special and get it. But I would agree with other reviewers, in general go for boxed and canned goods and staples here rather than produce. But have a look. I picked up portobello mushrooms for less than $2. I would have paid three times that at Whole Paycheck. It's clean and calm, and yes, they do take credit cards now. The only thing is, you should bring your own shopping bags or poach some boxes from their store. read more

Aldi is great for staples in baking, chocolate chips cereals and so forth. If you are not put out by putting back a shopping cart (25 cent deposit) using your own bags and paying debit or cash only). Aldi saves on credit fees and bags and staff then passes savings to you! No name brands but most items are high quality. There are a few duds here and there but they accept returns as they have a satisfaction guarantee and Aldi brand items. Can beat pricing! Great to stock up without having to wait for sales. Can't find every item and choices are limited but worth a look in my opinion. Produce is generally so so and meat options are limited as well. Great location and brand new store! Aldi is alright. I would like it better if the employees gave off a helpful, customer friendly vibe. It's like they are only there working on whatever it may be they are stocking and they are absolutely not available to assist you. I am obviously pregnant and sometimes could use some help. Instead they stand by and watch you struggle to move big metal crates out of the way in order to retrieve milk. I dont think I'll be back. And then they throw all your stuff into a deep cart and u have to struggle to quickly gather it out of there...that really is a crappy system. read more

I personally don't shop from here but my friends do. So, whenever I come over and we decide to cook, we most of the time shop from Aldi since it's close by. I've been here few times.. and I do like their products! Most of the stuff they carry is from Germany, they carry organic as well, the place is well organized and clean, the prices are very affordable and the staff are super friendly . if you'd like a shopping cart, make sure you have a quarter so you can get one. Once you return it, you can get your quarter back lol And bring your own bags, they don't carry "10 cents" bags and also their bags are uncomfortable to use. I give 3.5 stars because I think they could be more organized, and when they ran out of stuff they can replace it in a short time, have a decent bags and no need for a quarter to get the shopping cart. I stopped there to pick up some groceries and at the check out was heavy set gentleman with a beard and lots of tattoos who simply ignored my "hello" and "thank you", he turned away and his hand handed me my crunched up receipt which he kind of threw into the cart on top of my things. This is my least favorite Aldi. It gives Aldis a bad name. The shelves are often in disarray, and not all of the products have price tags. They're routinely out of items. But the big kicker is this: the milk and eggs are CRAZY expensive! I mean, for an Aldi. This week the milk was $3.29/gallon and the eggs were $1.99/dozen. Trader Joe's milk nearby was 2.59/gallon--a solid $.70 less! Costco was $2.50/gallon. And an Aldi a little further out (in Fairfax) had milk at $1.60/gallon!!! Now that's the kind of Aldi I'm talking about. (Target eggs were $1.80/18 and the Fairfax Aldi's eggs were $1.15/doz.) It's still an Aldi, so the circular items can be good and a lot of standards are okay priced (hence the second star--else I'd just give it one star). But this particular Aldi is the worst of the five I've been to in Virginia, and I try to avoid going there. read more

Of all the Aldi stores I have been in, this is not the best. It is a little dirtier at times and always seems under staffed. It is kind of small and doesn't have the best produce section. The prices are good and staff has always been very friendly though. Some of the items rotate out like cheeses. They get specialty cheeses like apple/cinnamon (which is a little weird for cheese) but they rotate. When it comes to fresh herbs, they have always had cilantro and have never had basil. Anything else is hit or miss. Bottom line, this place is good to pick up some basics. I stop in once a week (it is right next to my apartment) for some produce and miscellaneous other items as the price point is good. Oh, the beer they have isn't bad either. Craft beer at half the price you would pay elsewhere but it is made for Aldi. The Hop Lifter was a great IPA and I don't like IPA. They also have a brown ale in 16oz four pack cans from time to time that is really good as well. read more

Though I used to make fun of my dad for shopping here, it wasn't until my wife and I started shopping there that I realized they had incredible deals on fresh produce, organic foods and even baby formula--which by the way is half he price of what we were buying and our daughter actually seems to like a lot more. Typical Aldi. Prices are cheap and it's a good place to stock up on basics. They don't have a lot of fancy options in their meat department, but what they do have is usually a good price. Aldi keeps prices down by having you bag your own groceries. They don't provide free bags, but you can buy the reusable bags or grab some boxes. I usually have a couple of reusable cloth grocery bags in my backpack. The parking lot is a little small, usually crowded and shared with CVS next door and other shops in the shopping center. You need a quarter for the shopping carts, but you get it back when you return the cart. This is another way they save money and keep prices down. The biggest problem is the checkout. They usually only have one or two registers open, so lines can get long. They make up for it by having quick cashier. Because they are not bagging your groceries, they quickly put them back in your basket and you can move over to a long counter where you can bag at your leasure. read more

I love Aldi. Always have. I used to drive into Maryland for big grocery shops, until I got lazy for a while. They are huge - and well regarded- grocers overseas, fairly new to the U.S. (Just an FYI...) Bring a quarter for the cart. You'll get it back when you return the cart. This cuts down on abandoned or stolen carts. Bring your own bags. You'll bag your own stuff. It won't kill you, I swear. The food selection is 'stripped' (I.e.-not a million confusing choices for each item.) but each of what you find is good quality. It makes for fast shopping, and 95 percent of what I've bought, my family has loved. I just compared my last receipt with what I'd have spent using peapod (which my lazy ass has used exclusively for over a year before Aldi opened close to home) and I saved almost half. Meh. Just not that impressed. And I really didn't see and overwhelming savings on many items unless you regularly consume a large percentage of processed foods. About 20% of the store is essentially junk food (cookies, chips, candy, low nutritional frozen foods, etc...). Sure I might run in here on the way home if I forgot to pick up something simple - but then you have to deal with the fact that Aldi might not even have that item (forget it if you want a specific brand). The protein selection (meat, poultry, fish) is limited and the produce selection sad - and you have to by large quantities of many items (think bags of apples, oranges, etc instead of being able to select specific pieces) which means you have to deal with the concept that some pieces are going to be less than ideal. You'll get a much better deal and selection of produce at the Sat/Sun Southern Towers Farmers Market right across the highway from here. Aldi certainly has its place. But I don't buy a lot of processed foods and enjoy far better savings on produce and proteins shopping at nearby international/asian markets that are just as convenient. 2 annoyances: They only have shopping carts. I almost never use a shopping cart for someplace like this where I'm only going to purchase a few items. I prefer a handheld basket as using a cart encourages over shopping (usually of junk food). So you basically are either forced to use a cart here or juggle items as you walk around the store. They accept cash or DEBIT only. No credit cards. I haven't used my debit card for more than the ATM in years (since it seems that 3-4 major retailers I shop at get hacked or have some data breach each year). I like the added security protections of my VISA thank you. I pay it of monthly so I incur no interest and I want to use it where I want to use it. read more

Aldi is a fairly long distance from my home in Courthouse but the drive is worth it due to the savings. You have to bring your own bags (or buy some at the store) but since plastic bags are so abundant you'll likely have more than enough around your house to carry your load. It's a very good shopping center of your just looking for the basics. No luxury or kitsch items that you'll see at other high end stores like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. The only thing I really don't recommend purchasing at Aldi is produce. For one, most of it comes in bags so you can't just pick up individual items (who needs a bushel of garlic??). I go to the gym everyday and on the weekend try to get my groceries right after... they are always out of meat and frozen veggies (my staples of food) very inconsistent and lines are always outrageous. Staff always seems stressed out, definitely understaffed and always have a Hiring sign outside. Another this is the electricity in this strip mall ALWAYS goes out and closes all the stores down. Plenty of parking that it shares with cvs, wide aisles, high ceilings, well-lit, and a fair amount of inventory. Fruits and breads looked fresh. Was pleasantly surprised to see wine and craft beers and brioche bread made in France and at least 3 kinds. Compared to other Aldi's in the area, this is a whole lot nicer and surprisingly they take credit unlike other locations that accept only debit and cash. I'm shocked and appalled at the behavior of the cashiers at Aldi, and particularly the Kenmore location. If you like being treated like a naughty child when you attempt checkout while managing EVERY part of it yourself, then this is your place. Even if you're ready and prepared with your bags or boxes, every item you want to buy will be THROWN into the waiting cart. Now, try bagging this stuff yourself while cashier attendant demands a really quick payment, then starts to shove you out of the way for the next. Better yet, if you didn't bring a cart, you get scolded for trying to use THE cart while you pack and grab your stuff. Seriously, this has happened basically every time I've shopped here. The lines are long, and yes, speed is important, but this is unnerving. Frankly, it's abuse.
