So while there we went into the Coop for some coffee and sandwiches, and enjoyed a nice curb lunch out front. The Coop has a variety of grab-and-go sandwiches in a cooler towards the front, near the self-serve coffee area, several of which are vegan. I tried the vegan chickpea salad pita. My husband had the vegan buffalo seitan on ciabatta bread. He went with the dark roast coffee, and I had the medium-roast Bird of Paradise blend at recommendation of one of the fun checkout crew guys. The staffer claimed it is the best coffee he's ever had. I hit the carafe at just the right time to be empty and necessitate a fresh brew ... and WOW, he was NOT kidding! What an EXCELLENT cup of coffee! I love a light, wispy coffee that is so utterly crisp that every sip is somehow both satisfying and vapid, like your palate is both satiated and cleansed all at the same time--and this wonderful palate-paradox is the exact experience with a fresh cup of Bird of Paradise! And as for the sandwiches, also delicious! My chickpea salad pita was creamy and crunchy, with a hint of spicy. My husband loved the buffalo seitan sandwich so much so that he nearly denied me a bite! But I did get one, and can concur YUM. We strolled the aisles a bit while we were there, and it is a sweet little grocer with a small selection of all of your typical market sections. The selection of vegan and specialty groceries, like keto and gluten-free, is well represented here, too. Vegan marshmallows were on sale, so we grabbed a couple bags, as well as a few bricks of vegan ramen. If we lived closer I would gladly shop here, at minimum come back for more of that Bird of Paradise coffee! The staff was super friendly, the prepared foods were delicious, the coffee was superb--enjoy this sweet little establishment Syracuse, what a gem! :-D

Just as I put my groceries on the conveyor, this woman comes from the office and decides to do some type of audit on his register- he could not wait on me until she was done, I just looked at her in amazement, "you really have to do this now" she didn't even hurry as I stood there staring at her waiting for her to do whatever the hell she was doing so that eventually I could have the privilege of paying for the things i was buying. Previous visit I asked someone if they still has some of a sale item that was empty on the shelf, asking her if she could check the storage room and she responded "if it is not on the shelf we dont have it, that is all i know" Now think about it folks, when someone says "thats all i know" how can it be true??? they knew how to come and work and give you a hard time, then knew how to get dressed...what it really means is "screw you I do not want to help you.. I just want to do the minimum and get paid for being a crappy employee! Sorry for the tangent, bottom line is this is not always a pleasant place to be and should be reserved for when you dont have time to go somewhere better.

I stopped into this location on Wednesday January 7th to cash in four lottery tickets. When I went…read moreinside I joined a line that had probably 6-7 people ahead of me. There was one cashier. A male worker was emptying garbage and a female was working at the sub counter. There weren't any customers as the sub counter, she was preparing packaged sandwiches for sale in the store. When I got to the register to cash in my tickets, she took them from me and went to the lottery terminal. She then realized the machine needed paper and began looking for it. She couldn't find it. She asked the male worker who shrugged and didn't help. She then left the register area and headed to the back of the store. She was gone several minutes. I turned around to the line that had formed behind me and apologized to those waiting. One person said "It's not your fault" which I agreed with but I told them I felt like someone should at least be acknowledging them. Nothing. Nothing from the girl who continued to expertly place stickers on the sandwich containers, nothing from the male employee. The clerk finally returns and says to the male "Can you believe not one of the managers answered" to which the male made some comment and the clerk said "I called every manager. Every single one and no one answered, not even Jess". At this point she asked the male to ring out the customers at the other register. Also a customer had come in for subs to be made. The male clerk rang out the line while my clerk looked in more drawers and cabinets then went to another area to look for paper. In the meantime the female working the sub counter had finished making the subs and brought them to the register for her to pay. She set them at the register I was STILL standing at, gave me a vague look as if wondering why I was there then took the subs to the other register, set them down and walked away. She then realized no one was ringing up this woman and asked the male clerk to ring that customer up. My clerk came back and brought me my tickets and said she was sorry but there wasn't any paper so she couldn't redeem them. I asked her for her name. Not so I could complain about her, but so I could report the absolute disrespect and unsupportive workplace she has to deal with. She did her very best and NO ONE would help her. Not her coworkers and not the managers. This non-transaction took almost 20 minutes. Knowing that the managers there did not care I called the corporate headquarters the next day (1/8) and spoke to a woman who put me through to Customer Service and told me if no one answered to leave a voicemail because they would want to talk to me. I left the voicemail. The next day after no response I filled out the online comment/complaint form and requested to be contacted. On Monday 1/19 I realized I had not been contacted and called headquarters again, only to get the voicemail again. Guess what....ZERO response. It's obvious where the lack of customer service, caring and concern comes from. It starts at the top. Three chance and three strikes. Never again Byrne Dairy!!

They carry Ashby's hard ice cream from Michigan, along with several soft-serve flavors, sundae combinations, and plenty of toppings. It's a great place to browse, pick up groceries, and grab a treat while you're there. I'll definitely be back.
