Great supermarket with unbeatable prices. They are clean and organized with nice staff members that keep everything fully stocked. Loads of parking and they have self checkout. First time I saw any aldis with them

I went to aldi this morning to pick up milk and a few things the line for cashier was too long with only one cashier working. So I went to self service I accidentally rang up an item twice and the cashier turned off the help alert and didn't acknowledge me and kept ringing up other people so I rang it again and rudely said what do you need!! I was alarmed at her reaction and as all the customers stared at me I told her I rang up something twice. Never again this is 2nd time this happens at this store. Also went to buy Mayo and saw it went up about a dollar and they did this

This could be a tough one. I could either say three stars or four stars. I think the deciding factor that would have to be the fact that you always have a line to wait to get out of the building. Even if there is a lot of people shopping there you have a lot of people to wait in front of some way. It's magic that way. That said, the store is set up to sell you the very basic things that you need when going to the supermarket. There is not a lot of variety of items, so shopping is pretty simple and straightforward. Unlike other stores where you can spend an hour in front of the ketchup aisle if you don't know what you want. They have the old system of putting a quarter in to get a shopping cart out, so remember to bring your shopping cart back if you want that quarter back. They also charge for bags of you either don't bring any or don't grab one of the empty boxes off the shelf to stack your groceries in. When you get to the register there is one empty shopping cart there they will empty all of the products you buy into the shopping cart if you don't have a box or bag ready it will then be up to you to get them out so that the next person's items can be put in the shopping cart. I've never felt this was the right way to do this to just feels a little rude to put customers through that. Overall we go here quite often just to avoid the time spent in a bigger supermarket where you usually wind up spending more than you should have spent.

Farmers Produce - Paola, checking out groceries at Farmer's Produce, 459 E. Railway Ave., Paterson, NJ

Farmers Produce (459 E. Railway Avenue, Paterson, NJ) is my go-to store for such basic staples as…read more milk, butter, juice, tomatoes, onions, scallions, parsley, and lettuce. Generally speaking, no one in the area can beat their prices on those items. A half-gallon of Lactaid milk will cost me just $2.99 at this store. If I go to any other store in the area, I'll pay a dollar or two more for that same half-gallon. The other day I picked up a large, 11-ounce package of organic baby arugula for just $1.99. And when I got to the check-out counter, the gal, Paola (seen in one of the photos I'll post), noticed that some of the arugula at the bottom of the package appeared to be damp or wilted; she said, "Let me get you a better pack," and went in the back and got me a better one. I can't imagine a checker at a big chain supermarket doing anything like that. But it's a small store, they know their customers, and they treat them with care. When I got home one recent hot summer day and found that the half-gallon of milk I'd bought from the store was beginning to turn bad, I took it back to the store and asked if I could get a replacement. They were happy to accommodate me, even though I did not have a receipt. I value that kind of service. And on any given day, there are some real bargains to be found--inside the store or out in front of it. They always have bags of fruits and veggies that--because they're slightly imperfect or a day or two old--are marked down to just one dollar. I'll buy a dollar bag of apples and they're fine. It is a small store. They certainly don't have everything. And not everything is a bargain. But you can always find some real bargains among the fruits and veggies they sell here. Lines at the check-out counter or short, and the workers are helpful and friendly.

Short answer: There was not. The produce may be fresh and local, but you can find that in other stores or stands for well less than the prices here. (Example: $5/lb for tomatoes.) There were only two relatively short outdoor rows of fruits, vegetables, and flowers, and then a fairly cramped interior space with some more harvests (pumpkins, being fall), one refrigerator with cider, one freezer with ice cream, and a few shelves of jam. Very small selection overall, and at best the ice cream qualifies as "not unreasonable" for pricing. I think the only thing Richfield's got going is that it's in a semi-urban location, so you are hard-pressed to find a similar place nearby. But other than the experience of walking around outdoors for a few minutes, I would say just get your fruits and veggies at Whole Foods (or, if you're not local, find a farm closer to you).

I normally walk in with about $25 cash and leave with somewhere between 3 to 4 bags of groceries. They also sell fresh baked rolls, French baguettes, the round Italian loaves of bread, homemade breadcrumbs, fresh nuts by the pound, and have a whole selection of pasta and dried fruit. They also carry your dairy products, such as milk, half-and-half, and carry eggs as well the egg prices go up and down. Sometimes I am able to get the eggs cheaper here than any store including Walmart. Other times they are the most expensive so it just depends when you go. This should become a stop on your way home from work or stop on a weekend to stock up.
