Pretty standard Aldi experience. There is rarely a long line here and parking is pretty decent. I prefer the self check out so the experience is even easier. They are pretty well stocked with all the standard and basic items you can expect here. They are definitely priced well If your shopping on a budget. This used to be my favorite store. I've shopped here for years. They recently removed the self-service checkout. I was OK with that because I thought it meant the company wanted to invest in more employees. However, that is not the case. On average there is one usually no more than two people at checkout and the store has constant lines. You will see other employees in the store, but they are often restocking and will not be called up to the register. Anytime I've asked if other cashiers could help check out, I receive a perfunctory or sarcastic response like "negative" or "not going to happen." This is a shame. People need their groceries. They want to get in and get out. Aldi is losing loyal customers due to this recent lack of staffing. read more

Great prices but can be difficult to navigate since no one moves. I notice lately employees are in the crowded aisles with a huge tractor carrying items. The wrong timing, I won't lie. Sometimes it's better to make a few trips to stock the shelves than get completely in a person's way . I do notice thay alot of the workers look so upset even though they're earning nearly 20 an hour. Ivwas always in a good mood when I earned even 15 an hour. I earn far less now and I smile. Nothing hard about sitting down and ringing up items. Their has been a bit more selection now, like karma drinks for example. Honestly, please install self check out stations. The cashiers give everyone anxiety. It feels like TSA pre check when you go to check out and they are rude and yelling at everyone. They mostly look so miserable and make me not want to come here at all. read more

I went to aldi this morning to pick up milk and a few things the line for cashier was too long with only one cashier working. So I went to self service I accidentally rang up an item twice and the cashier turned off the help alert and didn't acknowledge me and kept ringing up other people so I rang it again and rudely said what do you need!! I was alarmed at her reaction and as all the customers stared at me I told her I rang up something twice. Never again this is 2nd time this happens at this store. As others have noted this place feels like shopping in a different country, but not a better country. The products appear mostly generic. The selection is not great. Prices are low it's true, but I'm afraid to try some of the unfamiliar things and I like the reassurance of name brands. But the main reason I dislike this place is because it's the world's most inconvenient market. It opens at 9 am (seriously wtf) and closes at 8 pm. My visit to the ALDI store on Lakeview Ave, Clifton, was made due to my not having time to go to my regular store, Stop and Shop. Entering the store was depressing; dim lighting, unattractive displays, all appeared to be third world merchandising. Check out was frustrating and annoying. Long lines were beginning to form at the only two cashier stations. Shoppers steered very large carts that could have held enough groceries for twelve people! I finally got to the cashier with my handful of packaged lunch meats. I was charged for the bag. I could not wait to leave this place and get back to my car. I like Aldi's for the low prices, and and their 'copy cat' items of name brands are just as good. However, their produce is hit or miss, many times the fruit is moldy and don't know why it's being sold like that. The floor looks needs a scrubbing as does the restroom. Why there is only 1 ladies room is beyond me, they need at least 1 more. There are several items I like but they aren't always in stock. There is no deli or seafood section so it's not a full service store. I prefer jumbo eggs but have never seen that size there. If you grew up in the former Soviet bloc of countries, then you may very well like the selection and service at Aldi; however, anyone who was raised with American standards of customer service or selection will think this is an inferior experience. You can very easily save money in this country without being subjected to a supermarket straight out of Yugoslavia in 1981. There are NEVER enough cashiers open, and they purposely understaff. The poor people who work there look exhausted and frustrated at all times. This place is even worse than Walmart. Deliberately understaffing so your customers have to wait day after day is disrespectful to the customer and that is how I feel when I shop here--disrespected. Today, I asked one of the cashiers to please (and I said "please") call another cashier to open another register since the line stretched halfway down the store. She told me to give them "a few minutes" and didn't call anyone to open. Huh?? The prices are not so cheap that it justifies me waiting an extra 20 minutes in line at some dingy supermarket. I would rather be spending time with my kids or family. Please hurry and open the Ideal Market where Pathmark used to be!! We need a normal American supermarket around here instead of this German Aldi crap. read more

If you are looking for basic items and want to save a tremendous amount of money Aldi's is for you. They only have 4 long isles that you follow in a snake pattern. OMG! I love Aldi. This location recently remodeled and is nicely organized. Aldi is not your regular grocery store, so don't expect frills. However, for staples and some fun surprises (check the rotating selection), it is fantastic! My bill is truly 40% less than a standard grocery. Also, Aldi is very similar to Trader Joe's (same company?). The employees at this location are helpful and friendly. Bring your own bags and a quarter for the cart. It is well worth it. read more

This could be a tough one. I could either say three stars or four stars. I think the deciding factor that would have to be the fact that you always have a line to wait to get out of the building. Even if there is a lot of people shopping there you have a lot of people to wait in front of some way. It's magic that way. That said, the store is set up to sell you the very basic things that you need when going to the supermarket. There is not a lot of variety of items, so shopping is pretty simple and straightforward. Unlike other stores where you can spend an hour in front of the ketchup aisle if you don't know what you want. They have the old system of putting a quarter in to get a shopping cart out, so remember to bring your shopping cart back if you want that quarter back. They also charge for bags of you either don't bring any or don't grab one of the empty boxes off the shelf to stack your groceries in. When you get to the register there is one empty shopping cart there they will empty all of the products you buy into the shopping cart if you don't have a box or bag ready it will then be up to you to get them out so that the next person's items can be put in the shopping cart. I've never felt this was the right way to do this to just feels a little rude to put customers through that. Overall we go here quite often just to avoid the time spent in a bigger supermarket where you usually wind up spending more than you should have spent. read more

On the plus side, the prices are very low--generally the prices are significantly lower than in the big supermarkets in the region. You can save money, shopping at Aldi's. The quality of the food they offer is good, and there are always some intriguing offerings you will find nowhere else (like canned soups from Germany that, to me, taste better than the familiar canned soups found in most markets). I like the compact size of this no-frills store, too--just four aisles, and it's easy to learn quickly where everything is. When this store first opened, I thought it would become my regular supermarket, my favorite place to shop, because the prices were so low and the food was good. But I soon soured on Aldi's. The place is understaffed. The check-out lines are longer than at any other market I've ever been to. For me--a handicapped person who walks with a cane and cannot stand comfortably for long periods of time--the horribly long lines are a deal-breaker. The store apparently does not care about customers like me; it seems OK with lines that sometimes get so long, they're impossible for me. And a horrible experience with one short-tempered cashier, who insulted me, and berated me and humiliated in a way I've never experienced at any other store also left a bad taste. I'm not saying that she's typical of the store--another cashier there, a kindly woman with a Caribbean accent--was always pleasant to me, and explained to me store policies in a helpful way (you have to pay for shopping bags or bring your own, you're expected to quickly bag your own groceries, etc.) But being treated so horribly by a cashier for reasons I did not understand soured me on the store even more. read more

Plus they only have one line open at a time which doesn't make us customers happy. I go to Aldi every week. They have all types of products including their own baby line (i love their baby wipes). Even though they don't offer many brand products, their brands are organic certified, gmo-free, and fair-trade. Big selection of pasta, bread, meats, frozen products, chips, chocolates, cereal, and vegetables although sometimes if you go at night they might have run out of some but the next day is back on the shelf. They recently renovated. It is true, you bring your own grocery bags but you can buy a plastic one for 10 cents i think or a paper bag for 6 cents. read more

I'm here multiple times a week to purchase goods and I absolutely love it. The produce is ridiculously cheap compared to Corrados and Shoprite; and even though they don't sell a lot of name brand products, their products are just as delicious (I highly recommend their Mac and Cheese, Guacamole and Hummus). Their prices on other things such as meats and cheese are also not bad. I recommend going to shop during the early afternoon on weekdays because the check out line isn't as crowded as it usually is. I love going to Aldi. I grew up in Germany and used to go to one after school every day to get a snack. It is normal all over Europe to bring your own bags, it's an environmental problem! Americans create so much garbage with shopping bags alone. You use a quarter to get the cart so that there are not carts everywhere. I agree there should be more cashiers open, especially on weekends. So here's the good stuff: great prices, great organic and natural items. German items I can't get anywhere else, especially seasonal German items. Great specialty things like Spanish ham, smoked salmon etc much cheaper than anywhere else. I like the lack of huge selections of anything, saves me a lot of time and less to think about. Any busy mom would agree. read more
