Aldi on Pontiac Ave, Cranston. On Jan 3, 2026, I was shopping and could not reach an item on the top shelf of the cheeses. I could not see the feta cheese items in the box way above my head, so I pulled the box down. Several of the soft wrapped cheeses fell on my head. However, there was a heavy plastic feta box that hit my head, opened up on my coat, clothes, and new leather boots - the feta cheese juice ruined my things. I complained to the general manager at the Aldi on Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, Rhode Island. He told me it has happened before with other customers and he has complained to upper management; however, no one above him would make a change so that cheese with juice would not fall on the Aldi customers. I find this appalling, and in addition to this complaint, I will make online complaints for this store location. In addition, when this happened unexpectedly to me, I was dressed to go out and had to go home and change and launder my clothes. I ended up being late to my engagement, which made me mad. I also had to go and buy leather cleaner as my boots smelled like feta cheese. And I took my coat to the cleaners. I expect compensation for this from ALDI. And the next time I am in the store, if I see items on the upper shelf that cannot be seen because the are in boxes, I will complain again. This is inexcusable! You have had multiple complaints!!!! An absolutely horrible experience was experienced with an employee today, and I cannot believe what happened. A female employee threatened my wife after scolding her to get out of the way with what can be considered assault & battery (in an already crowded Aldi), and then was overhears complaining to coworker(s). She slapped her hands together to make a gesture that she would physically assault my wife. I will not sugarcoat it, this got me extremely upset, and I cannot recommend anyone ever to visit this Aldi location for this employee alone - what a jerk! Aldi as a brand is great, but when my wife witnessed what she was considering doing, I could not believe what was witnesses. This is absolutely disgusting behavior, as we are just trying to get by in life. What deplorable and disgusting behavior. It doesn't matter how impatient you are with people - that employee works with in public, and although the public can be a challenge to work with (trust me, i KNOW), that gives the employee no right to be so hostile upfront with someone who openly apologized and is willing to comply and move. It's simply unbelievable how the employee exploded at someone who they've never met. How horrible. Please never shop here. Literally any other location is better than this Aldi location. I usually love Aldi! Great prices, good food, and usually I have a positive experience with the employees. I went to this Aldi after work today (5:00pm on 1/27/2026) and I had a horrible experience with rude employees. One of them, a middle aged lady with curly blonde hair, got so pissed when I attempted to go down an aisle, and she had boxes and a transport cart in the way. She rudely said 'You're going to need to move', which I immediately did, and apologized. I walked past her several other times and she was loudly expressing to a coworker, a young man, with brown hair (clean-shaven), how short her patience was about people needing to move, and made her point by smacking her hands together like she was going to slap me. They were very clearly talking about me, even though I complied AND APOLOGIZED and moved. There was no need for that, especially since they spoke about it when I was nearby. I had a long day at work and this was a horrible, upsetting experience. Will not be returning to this location. Disappointing. read more

I have enjoyed shopping at Aldi for years! They have a very good selection of items at reasonable prices. I particularly enjoy their snacks (chips, crackers, dried fruits/nuts, chocolates), produce, cheeses, milk, eggs, and ice creams. They have seasonal products and other specialty items that occasionally come and go. With a smaller store size I can see why they can't stock some items year round. The only things I would complain about is that they occasionally don't have enough staff and the lines can be very long. Also very recently they have reduced their hours (opening later and closing earlier) though I believe this is temporary due to COVID. It's still a bit frustrating for a grocery store to have such short and inconvenient hours. With the exception of those staffing/hours issues, I am truly a fan of Aldi, shop there frequently, and highly recommend it! read more

Aldi is the place to shop if you're looking for a quick and efficient (albeit kind of sterile and lonely) experience. Feels like a warehouse with simple design; like if a big box store like BJ's was a smaller scale grocery store. They have no frills; just good deals on food and a "get in/get out" mentality. This is the place to buy meat, eggs, and dairy, as it is the cheapest of all markets to do so. A week or two's worth of groceries for a family of two can be leas than $40, as opposed to $100 at Stop and Shop. Only complaint is that there is never enough check out counters, but that seems to be a part of their brand. Not a deterrent for me. read more

I always enjoy shopping at the Pontiac Ave location in Cranston. The staff is always so friendly and courteous. Until yesterday. The young woman at the checkout was overly rude, cold, unfriendly and literally threw each item (other than the eggs) in my cart. I'm always friendly to people and usually enjoy chatting with the cashiers. This particular employee literally ruined my entire shopping experience. I'd never seen her there before, and if she's there again I'm done shopping there for good. And btw, there was only one other customer in line after me, so being overly busy didn't enter into the equation. This was around 5:00 pm on a Saturday and the store was practically empty at that time. read more

How they do it in Germany Aldi Supermarkets are a chain of discount supermarkets that started in Germany and then spread throughout Europe and other parts of the world. I believe there are now over 8,000 of them with over a thousand in the United States. The whole idea was to save the customer money. Of course to save money certain things had to be cut and all frivolous amenities eliminated. No fancy displays or pageantry, just stuff piled up without a thought to aesthetics or visual appeal. The store is clean but has the feel of being in a warehouse. The employees are polite but obviously very busy and are not there to pamper the customers. They all seem to be doing several things at once. You are expected to bring your own bags but the strangest thing is the fact that you have to pay a quarter to use a cart. You get the quarter back when you return the cart and this eliminates the need for an employee to drag the carts back to the store. Kind of a cool idea except for the fact that the stupid cart release didn't work very well and I had to fight with the thing to get it out. They claim to save you 50 to 90 percent off your bill, but course they don't tell you compared to what. The prices I saw were lower than most groceries but probably similar to the other discount stores like Sam's and Costco. The biggest problem I had with this store is that it's small and the selection was limited. They just didn't have most of what I was looking for so I still had to go somewhere else. Like most discount places, at Aldi's you get with they happen to have, not necessarily what you happen to need or want. You can save money with Aldi but I doubt if it can be your only store. I use to have one grocery store that I went to, now I seem to have five different ones. At some point my time becomes more important than money. read more

This Aldi's is always clean and well stocked. The aisles are spacious, and the prices are great. Currently on the Keto train (again!) and they have so much to offer. The staff are always friendly and courteous. I used to go to other stores (shh, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods) for some of my healthier purchases, haven't had to as much anymore. Good selection of fresh inexpensive produce. Most packaged snacks are all processed with peanuts, treenuts making them not an option for me. I bought a new spatula for $2. I started shopping Aldi's as soon as it opened on Pontiac ave. I being handicapped find this store easy to get around , always keeping quarters in my car , then if I see someone looking for a carriage I give it to them when I am finished. They offer a quarter to me and I always say pass it on to the next person. I start shopping at the chips at the door work my way to milk, then cream then everything else I need. . I know that some people love this place, but I couldn't stand it. I think there's a direct correlation between how much you love patchoulli and how much you love Aldi's. The first thing that set me off was that you need to put a quarter into the stupid shopping cart lock to free it from its shackles. This is annoying as hell since it's 2017 and who carries change anymore? Then you go inside and there's a weird smell sort of like a cross of barnyard, youth hostel, and urinal. Almost none of the brands are recognizable. The produce looked shabby and old. There is absolutely nothing appealing about this place other than low prices. The prices however are no better than Stop & Shop. If you have a S&S card, you can equal or surpass any savings you'd get at Aldi's and get name brands at the same time. Sorry, but I hated the entire experience, including having to buy my stupid grocery bag at the checkout because a .05 bag is too much to include for the shopper. Not again. read more

Check your receipt before you leave. Let me start by saying I like Aldi, generally good prices on good products. We went to the Cranston location yesterday as they are renovating the Warwick location we generally go to. We had an Aldi coupon for $5 off (provided from the Warwick store before they closed). I gave the coupon to the cashier before she started ringing up our items. Long story a little shorter, when we arrived home I looked at the receipt. The first thing that stuck out was that we were charged for 5 cartons of eggs when we had purchased 2, and there was no deduction for the $5 coupon. The cost to drive back up there is about a wash between what the gas would cost vs. what we'd get back. Shame on me for not checking the receipt before we left. I do not think I have ever spent more than $35 on a trip to Aldi and we are talking a full shopping trip, produce and all. You are not going to find name brands here or fancy end caps, bells and whistles meant to lure you down the isles. Aldi keeps it perfectly simple. Here is the food, buy it. Owned by the same German corporate family as Trader Joe's, Aldi's definitely does discount shopping right. On a super strict budget and want to see your buck stretch? Look no further. On average I tend to spend somewhere between $25-35 dollars for a week's worth of groceries for the hubby and I which is quite glorious considering how much a typical trip to the market costs for comparable items. I find that if you're looking for the basics, Aldi's is worth hitting up. Their generic brand boxed, canned and frozen foods are no different than the big name competitors, if not in many cases, even better. (I'm a huge fan of their frozen veggie mixes and Asian quick meals.) Also their pre-made take and bake pizza are really delicious for the cost. I still go to my usual stores for things as deli meat and so forth, but when available I definitely prefer to get my pantry staples from Aldi's. Pop a quarter and go! read more

This is "my" Aldi. I love shopping here for lots of different things. For instance, today I was able to pick up granola cereal, organic string cheese, mini croissants, guacamole tortilla chips and fresh salsa all for under $10. That would never happen anywhere else. Many of the meat products are Kirkland brand (same as Costco); and it's great for picking up all of your dry foods (grains, snack foods, boxed pasta, etc.) If you want produce, be choosey and thoroughly inspect each item. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the produce is fresh and sometimes overly ripe. While the employees are few and far inbetween, they do a good job for the amount of traffic this location gets. It is located right near the highway on and off ramp, as well as Garden City and Chapel View shopping centers. It helps to bring your own shopping bags and remember that quarter for the carriage. read more

I LOVE this Aldi's! Great location, very friendly staff, incredible prices. $1 for a dozen eggs (ok, the price just jumped $.30 to $1.29 - still a steal). Under $2/carton of egg whites? Less than a buck for Chobanni 100 cal greek yogurt. Around a buck for brown rice, great 12 grain bread for a little over a buck (5g protein and lots of fiber per slice, no enrichment or HFCS), cheap sweet potatoes. $3 for a big case of bottles water. I love going to Aldi! They really do have lower prices than the big supermarkets. Here's my take on it: I still go to the larger supermarket for chicken breast and pork chops and fresh sliced deli cold cuts and a few other items, but I go to Aldi for canned veggies, fresh fruit & produce and snacks for lunches. (to take to work) Aldi is DEFINITELY THE BEST place to buy sugar, flour, cooking spray, Olive oil, vegetable oil, walnuts, almonds, cookies, cereal, bottled water, 12 grain bread, spices, eggs and milk. The prices are considerably less. I don't buy chicken or pork here for whatever reason, but I have purchased 90% lean hamburger and turkey burger and it was equally as good as any other store. Bring a quarter, some plastic bags and save yourself some money! No, this won't be your main supermarket but it's worth popping in for the items I mentioned above. I went to one about 5 minutes away from my house last night and even thought I only paid 10.00 for a few items the quality was terrible. Never again! So here is my 10.00 shopping: a 1.99 chicharronez chips (most disgusting things I ever tried....threw it away immediately), a 2-pounds dole seedless grapes for 1.98 (great price but same deal as your local Stop and Shop or Walmart when on sale, but these ones were dirtier than usual), 0.49 avocado (one shall see, will update when used), a 1.99 disposable roasted pan (what I really went to buy....buy one for about 1.19/1.29 at Save-a-lot last week but that store was out of my way) and a 4.99ish whole cashews bag (now, that was good. Again, prices are comparable to Market Basket, Stop and Shop on sale) and the place looks like an episode from the Walking Dead. Dirty, there are no shopping carts, everything is generic, and you find 1/10 items you went to get, cash/debit only and, as the cashier point out, get the especial item now because what you see today, won't be here tomorrow. I am sorry, but I need consistency in my grocery shopping, time, is a valuable asset I appreciate having so going in circles around a supermarket looking for items and then supplementing at the big supermarkets is not for me, food that tastes like cardboard and generic items are not my thing either, I am a big wholefoods fan so I am kind of picky when it comes to that, having my groceries clean and bagged are things I appreciate, so is that means that I will pay more at the end of my shopping trip, I am ok with that. read more

Cheap and you can get almost everything on your list for half the price of, say, Shaw's. One thing to remember, though, is to bring a quarter to get a cart and to bring your own bags (unless you want to pay 10c for one of their plastic bags or 30c for paper). I'm a huge fan of Aldi! I randomly saw this one while in Cranston and knew that I had to stop in and look around. It was very similar to the other locations that I've visited but I felt like the selection was not as good nor as varied as in other spots. Many of the shelves were empty and things were all out of place like no one bothered to go through and fix up after the day ended. There were also tons of kids running like crazy through the aisles which was quite distracting. The line was slow too. Aside from that, they had some items I wanted and the prices were cheap. I'd go again if in the area but I definitely prefer my local locations more than this one! read more

I like the market and have definitively found bargains. My may complaint is the use of instacart to have my order delivered that Aldis advertises on the website. You might not even realize it is not the store service. I had an appt between 6-7. Got a text that they were running behind and it would be between 7-8. Got a text that my shopper had arrived at 7 and was getting my order ready. Got a text that they were runny behind and that it would be more like 8 to 8 30. Got a call at 8 30 from a rep stating they would have to re sched because when the shopper got there it was closed. Aldi s closes at 8. So, all the other texts were BS. The shopper got there after 8. There is a snow storm tomorrow and now I have no food so unless I want to go out at 9....I m out of luck. When I tried to talk to the person who called me to say they needed to resched about why wouldn't a shopper find out when the store closes, he says "yeah that sometimes happens" It is not worth the bother folks.
