Almond milk $1.79, the cheapest in town. You are welcome!

There is nothing extravagant about Aldi and it is definitely not your typical grocery store. Honestly I was lost on my first visit, so here is Aldi 101. Pay a quarter to unlock a basket/shopping cart, do your shopping, return the cart after loading your groceries in your car, and you'll get the quarter back. What the..... Ikr. Don't look for brand names, Period. Paper or plastic? Neither. No bags of any kind are provided, so bring your own. You are welcome. This location is always clean and organized, friendly staff, and offers quality products at reasonable prices. I always find great deals on almond milk, pretzels, unsalted cashews, Winking Owl moscato, and organic produce, hummus, and spices. No-frills, bells, or whistles just your friendly neighborhood Aldi.

This store has been remodeled. Here is what it looks like as of December 2019.

I checked this ALDI out when I had a day off, and I must say that, in terms of product selection, it's the best one I've seen in Nashville so far. Sure, the one by the zoo is a really good store, and the one in Bellevue (Highway 70S) is the best aesthetically. However, this one, located about a mile west of White Bridge and Charlotte, just off Charlotte, is the first one in town where I have ever seen ground bison (I bought some - it was great!). I found many of my other ALDI favorites here as well. If you haven't been to ALDI, just remember to bring a quarter and preferably also reusable bags. You'll need to put the quarter in the shopping cart to unlock it, but when you return it and lock it back, the quarter comes back out (However, at this store I found that people will be glad to just give you a quarter and take the cart so you don't have to take it back.). They charge a small fee for bags, and you bag your own groceries. However, checkout is super speedy, so I like it this way. Another note, many of the pictures that I've seen on this Yelp listing are out of date. This store, like many ALDI stores (one exception I know as of this writing - Franklin, TN - why haven't they done this??), has been significantly remodeled. I'm attaching newer pictures so you can see the difference. They even redid part of the outside of the store. It looks much nicer!

I stopped into Aldi for the first time this weekend for a couple miscellaneous items, and it fit the bill for what I needed! Definitely a rather random assortment of food and home goods, but all at a very cheap price. My favorite purchase was a bag of mini bell peppers for snacking at $2.99! Great deal. They also offered some great non-dairy items like soy and almond milk. However the price was pretty comparable to Kroger for those items. Only down side, NO credit cards! Cash or debit card only. Also, they will not have ALL the items you need. But if you are looking for a cheap grocery trip, this is your place!

Good prices and quality. Beware the bulk buying if you are a small family or one person! Love their pre-portioned chocolate bars!

Meh! Not really my speed. I like the simplicity of the check out but I think I'd feel like crap if I ate food from this outlet.

If you are not familiar with ALDI, think the Dollar General of grocery stores. It has the same vibe with layout, brand names, pricing, variety of goods, etc...Don't get me wrong, I mean no shade by this comparison, as ALDI has some solid stuff at really great prices and on occasion I hit them up before Kroger and/or Publix. While you may not shop there, I bet you did know that you need a quarter to get a cart! I like this, as the parking lot stays pretty clean and there are always carts up front! The other pecular things about ALDI is that you must have your own bag or purchase reusable bags, but you can get boxes to carry your stuff if they have them out and available. Once you ring up, the cashier places your items in an empty cart and once paid you stroll over to the counter to bag/box your own items. Again, it keeps things moving so I ain't mad at it! ALDI carries a scaled down and off brand of many of your supermarket staples, and they even carry fresh meat. The meat prices are always a little too high for me, so I stick with the chips, snacks, cookies, frozen veggies and frozen meals/meats on my trips in. Another great area is the deli meat/cheese and dip section. This cooler area is jammed with a variety of solid items at great prices! Lastly, the wine...just go it! Service is always hit and miss at this ALDI, but it is never just terrible. They are quick and efficient for the most part, but not super friendly. Between this and the constant disarray that some of the aisles always seem to be in is why the fifth star is missing. Overall, when in need or close by, this ALDI location will certainly do!

It is slightly cheaper than your run-of-the-mill grocery store because: 1) they don't have anyone to bag your groceries; 2) they don't have plastic or paper bags to give you for your groceries (tip: find empty boxes around the displays to use for your groceries); 3) they don't have people pushing carts outside and gathering them because you have to deposit a quarter to unlock a cart, and after you're done shopping you return the cart back to the corral and you get your quarter back 4) they also probably save money because they don't allow people to pay with credit cards, they accept either cash or a debit card. If you can deal with these little stipulations and unfamiliar brand names, try shopping here. It'll save you some money.

The summer market is busy with lots of dog walkers and about 100 vendors. The Instagram and website are well-maintained weekly to where you can view a map and last-minute changes before you visit. Some vendors are to-go foods like coffee, empanadas, or breakfast sandwiches. Some vendors will sell you produce to cook later from meats to mushrooms. Some vendors even have pick up options for their CSA boxes during farmers market hours. You'll find all cultures represented. I've seen Korean egg sandwiches, Argentinian empanadas, Polish perogis, Japanese taiyaki, Cajun crawfish, French bakeries (highly recommend Cocorico), and Somali breakfast goodies (highly recommended The Horn). And of course good ole fashion TN meats, produce, sauces, soups, and more. Feel free to enjoy your food on the grass as a picnic or on a park bench. The farmers market organizers will be playing music from their info tent. Parking is free all around Sylvan Park neighborhood including Richland Park lots on the north and south borders of the park. You can ride a bike to park at their bike racks. While you're there, feel free to checkout a library book or hit around a tennis ball.

In fact, one weekend, there were at least three families we recognized in the park! This makes your shopping experience that much more personal and pleasant, especially in pandemic times. Take a leisurely stroll through the different stalls, making small talk with strangers, sellers, and friends alike. That's my kind of Saturday. We ended up purchasing a beautiful blanket from The Nashville Blanket Project which gives a blanket to someone in need for each one purchased. It comes with an adorable "Keep Nashville Cozy" tote bag. My partner also purchased a (high premium) banana pudding in glassware that he devoured in a matter of minutes. (I'm not sure I recommend the double-digit price tag on that on, delicious as it was and vegn as it was.) All the stalls were dappled in sunlight, and the winter air felt more like a summer breeze. Sigh. I did wish I had stopped here first! Everyone was very friendly and there was anything and everything you could ask for at a Farmer's Market! This was much more of a "bustling market" and since it is on the grass, families were able to spread out blankets and could stay to enjoy the live music! I very much enjoyed walking through and browsing, but as I had already purchased what I needed from the other farmer's market, I did not purchase anything this time around. However, I did feel that the vendors at the other location were a bit more personable and were very generous with samples and talking about what they offer. This one lacked that slightly, but overall had more of what I needed.
