The quality of food is going down. The bread itself, besides being frozen, and the fact that it doesn't taste like bread is concerning. The Aldi in Newington isn't the one I most frequently visit, but I stopped by the other day to pick up some necessities, since I was in the area. This is a typical Aldi where many items cost less than they would at a typical grocery store. A dozen eggs are currently $2.85. A gallon of milk is $3.05. These are the items that typically fluctuate in price. It's also a good place to pick up fresh fruits and vegetables. On my most recent trip they were out of several things I wanted to pick up. They have these delicious macarons, that can usually be found with the ice cream, they were gone. Grapefruits were also gone. Either way, I certainly didn't walk away empty handed. It's a good idea to always have a quarter reserved for Aldi. You will need one to unlock their shopping carts. read more

This location is usually well stocked and clean. It's a convenient location, right on the Berlin Tpke, so when I really need something from the aisle of shame it isn't a long drive to get here! Plenty of parking is a plus, and they are great about opening a new checkout line if the existing line(s) get long. read more

I really like this aldi location since they remodeled. I came here a few months back for food for an outdoor party and they certainly delivered with the new cheese selection. FYI. If you love cheese curds, you're going to haveeeee to get the garlic cheese curds they now carry because they are absolutely delicious. I snack on them often and need to visit again soon to see if they're still carrying them. It not then I'll just have to stock up on fall cheeses. read more

When a person get hired for cashier and stock assistant. This doesn't mean, you're the hired store cleaner, which includes men's bathroom and women's bathroom, mopping the entire store, which by the way is very dirty. Taking advantage of any employee who just wants to make customers to shop in the store. The manager is offering hours per employment. Whether is 40 hours or 8hour or 4 hours. Sending employee home before their shift has been completed. That is fraud. Cheating the employee out of basic earned wages. ALDI should do better than that. Is how you keep the price cut down, by praying on your staff. Shame on ALDI. Someone from corporate should address this bad practice. read more

In case you weren't familiar with Aldi already, you have to bag your own groceries, so buy a bag or bring your own. Don't forget your quarter to get a shopping cart. Don't forget to your shopping cart for that quarter. COVID-19 era, wear your mask as the sign on the door says, and then, enjoy a million deals. Do try to come early since this is a busy store on a Saturday afternoon, but has most everything. The pineapples were ripe, the bananas green, and there were plenty of pantry goods. Beans/chipotle pepper/rice are easy to find. I've managed to find Chicken Tikka Masala sauce here. This is the one place I know of in Southern New England that consistently has cheese curds (Stews does on occasion). The Aldi Finds aisle with random goods is your reward for budget shopping. I managed to find a large $25 Dutch oven, and have found all kinds of goodies here including seasonal Apple straws (too tasty, beware). Enjoy hunting for everything on this aisle including booster seats, clothes, furniture, and toys. Aldi here has beer, but CT law prevents us from drinking Aldi wines (legend has it there's a wine advent calendar!). I love ALDIs. Great prices and high quality food - especially everyday staples. Cut our grocery bill in more than half! Very few items do I choose or must buy elsewhere, normally that's produce. I prefer South Windsor CT location over Rocky Hill, but I can get in/out faster at Rocky Hill since there is self-check out there. Bag your own groceries and don't forget to bring a quarter for your shopping cart! You get it back when you return cart to proper location. read more

Prices are unbeatable. Some of the fruit and berries are definitely not up to par and I have stopped bying most of my berries here do to that. And the apples that sells in bags only are usually bruised and and hard to find any goods once. Besides that they have a great variety and always stocked which I appreciate. I am a fan of this store. They are getting more and more organic products, they have a few name brand products (Honey Nut Cheerios which I grabbed), and very reasonably priced produce, milk and eggs. It's one of those places where you go in for 5 things and come out with 25. Come prepared with a quarter to get a cart (you get your quarter back when you return it, so just keep one in the car for when you stop in) and your own reusable shopping bags. These small things are some of the ways they pass down the savings and offer things cheaper than Stop and Shop next door and Price Chopper a little ways down the street. They have some store brand products that are great and that I buy time and time again (syrup and ketchup). I say this because I've tried other store brand ketchups that were so bad I couldn't even finish the bottle once you're used to Heinz. They also have cheaper almond milk and items like that, which they didn't always carry. So, the store is smaller and they won't have every single thing on your grocery list, but what they do have will be cheaper than the bigger stores. Staff is always friendly and usually get you through rather quickly, even if the line looks long (okay, there are some times I really think they need to open another register, but overall it's not really been that bad). Oh, they also ONLY accept cash, debit or EBT cards, another way to keep the prices down. If you need to charge groceries one week, this is not the place to go. read more

I recently went to the Newington, CT Aldi and used the curbside pickup service. The young lady that assisted me was very helpful. Right when I was ready to leave my car battery die. So I had my son ask the manager to hold my freezer items in the store until my car was fixed. They kindly did so and I just wanted to say how wonderful they were for doing that for me. Well, it's official. I've finally found a place with produce (just the staples like bananas, apples, tomatoes) that is less than 1/2 the price of other stores. A whole container of Roma tomatoes for 79 cents??? WHAT? Other stores charge up to 3.99 a pound for the same exact product. Bananas are 29 cents a pound compared to about 60 cents at other stores. Huge bag of apples for less than $3. I left feeling like I stole something because it was so cheap and better quality than what I've encountered in the past. Knock-off brands galore but honestly it's the same exact thing, isn't it? A warm, fuzzy pair of boots is a pair of warm & fuzzy pair of boots regardless of the "ugg" label. Therefore, cinnamon toast squares are Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. We aren't 5--we can handle the knock-off brand, right??? Worth the stop for produce and eggs (1.69 a dozen compared to ALMOST FOUR DOLLARS) right down the street at every other grocery store chain. How do these people remain open? Why did it take me so long to stop here? Am I the only one who called it Aldis with an s although it's just Aldi??! So many questions unanswered but let's just leave it that way and go get your staple produce, eggs, and bread to save tons of cash. read more

I at first struggled to figure out how Aldi could charge the prices they do on, well, everything, and still pull a profit. But after a few trips, I started to understand what was going on... -There are at most 3 employees working any given store. And two at most are on checkout at any time, so lines can be long on occasion. They do work fast though. -They do not take credit cards. Debit, cash, or EBT only. -There are no cart collectors; you are expected to bring a quarter for a cart, then bring the cart back to the store if you want your quarter back. Haven't seen those little devices on shopping carts since I was a child. -No free bags. Bring your own bags, or pay 6 cents each for their large plastic bags. -There are hardly any shelves. Most everything is stashed on pallets or in cold cases. -95% of the merchandise is knockoff brand, and the overall selection is relatively low. Clearly, these strategies mark the core of their business plan, which saves them money, therefore saving you money. But that's the genius of the whole operation. In this modern world, how bad can this knockoff stuff really be? Trust me when I say that everything is at least as good as the store brands, because it all probably comes from the same factory. Can you complete a shopping trip here? Most of the time, no. But at least START here... You'll probably get 80% of what you need, and do it for about half the price. read more

Ah-Mazing! We save SO much money here! We try to get everything we can here, but eventually we have to go to a "normal" store to fill the blanks (vegetarian options (which aldis has sometimes), exotic spices, lunch meat (the deli meat at aldis is not good). Procedure tips: bring a Quarter to get a shopping cart (you bring it back). Bring your own bags, and be ready to do your own bagging (which you SHOULD be doing anyway, unless you have issues Side note: There is a special place in hell for all healthy men/people who watch elderly cashier ladies bag their groceries) Only cash or debit...no credits cards or checks Its all generic, sometimes they have name brand stuff. And they always have random seasonal items (Christmas gifts and decorations, Valentines day cards, Easter egg kits, summer toys a la slip n slides etc). Shopping tips: They have EXCELLENT pizzas! large size, diff topping $5 to $7..so good. And they have GREAT salsa!! Go figure! Their fig newtons, animal crackers, MIO, turkey burgers, coffee creamer, salsa...all AMAZING..prefer it to regular. GOOD produce selection, their apples are WAy better than price choppers. They are really stepping up their game! They have an organic line, a gluten free line, and unexpected healthy options (coconut oil, unsweetened almond milk, blue corn tortilla chips, greek yogurt, to name a few). And the produce section is expanding! This location is new, and clean. Try it! It has all the basics and then some. And SOO much more affordable... read more

Short on cash, don't need alot,aldi is the spot. The produce is minimal, but will work on a pinch, the frozen veggies so cheap, the meat is minimal to but good quality. Milk is a steal, so are the eggs, the bread is cheap. But the have a nice variety They also have some stuff that other places don't have,"cherry cider"it's pretty good. I love love love the French onion soup, you may need to add some cheese but it is so good. The place is clean, the ppl are friendly and helpful. Downside have to buy bags which is not huge downfall and carts are .25 cents cart but you get the quarter back when returned which means you have to put the cart back . More food for your buck . Great store. Extremely helpful energetic friendly courteous staff. Small scale supermarket that's pleasant and easy to walk around in, and get in and out fast, but still get everything you need. Selection is smaller than a typical supermarket but the feeling of having to go on a hike for the afternoon that you get in a standard supermarket isn't there, yet most of what you need is, and prices are outstanding. A lot of the products seem to be their own brand , but other brands are there also. This a store you can get all your shopping done stress free with courteous staff at great prices, and get in and out quick without being worn out. Certain specific brands or products you may want might not be there, but it's a great place to go to get all the basics you need at a great price. read more

So basically, if you aren't shopping at Aldi, you're spending too much on groceries. I, like others, was skeptical when I first went and only saw "scary" generic stuff. But as I got braver and learned more about Aldi (they have a great website) and tried more and more different items. Aldi is now my regular grocery store and I get almost everything I need there. Some of my favorite items: multi-grain bread- tastes just like the Milton's bread I use to pay $4 for, this stuff is LESS than $1 deli meat - they seem to run out of the turkey a lot, but when they do have it I buy the "refill" packages. They are designed to go in those Gladware containers the brand name stuff comes in, tastes the same at a fraction of the price grape tomatoes - 1/4 of the price I pay at other grocery stores ground turkey - just as good as Jennio and so much cheaper, never have to wait for it to go on sale since its always a great price (even cheaper than the ground beef!) bagged salad - just as good as Fresh Express but costs less Things to avoid: some of the Keebler knock-off cookies don't taste anything like the original, same with the imitation Doritos The bagels are just OK, they taste like generic store brand bagels, not like Thomas or other brand name bagels But don't let me stop you from trying something, because they do have a double money back guarantee. I seriously love this place. I've been a fool the last few years wasting my time at Stop and Shop. Aldi is significantly cheaper than the other big grocers but the quality of the food is the same, if not better. One thing I really appreciate is that a lot of their products are organic. Yes as others have mentioned the produce section isn't as extensive as other places but I can deal. They always have the basics and most of that is organic. I always see the same people working here when I go and everyone is super friendly. read more
