So it wasn't my first time at an Earth Fare personally. The store self was very clean but I felt that the selections were pretty limited for what I was trying to find. The store does have really high standards as stated in the company's mission. I was able to get a good smoothie though it was overpriced for what I paid for. The hot bar had great options as well though I was saddened that they ran out of soup. Plenty of great grocery items nonetheless. Quiet location with not many staff members working at all either. Large parking lot with access to the street nearby as well as the highway.

Customer service has been great except for this last visit. The checkout clerk was not friendly at all, not rude or anything just seemed unfriendly and very inattentive. So much so he charged me for an extra item that I hadn't bought. I have no idea why he rang something up that was not in my cart, but it was a "happy birthday" balloon and I have no idea where that would've came from. But instead of refunding it right then or at least calling a manager, he directed me to the customer service desk. I don't have time for that. Besides just being a waste of my time I also had frozen bread which I wanted to get home quickly in this 90° weather. So I'm giving the 5 stars based on my prior experiences. I wanted to leave 4 1/2 stars but that's not an option. So I'll give Publix the benefit of a doubt with a reminder to management that South Charlotte is sussing you out... we've seen it many times before: new store opens. First year or so the customer service is very friendly and knowledgeable. Then after the trainers have been out of the store for a few months things start to slip. Don't slip Publix! Customer service is all you've got. I can shop somewhere cheaper. I can shop somewhere with better quality meats or breads or deli. Customer service should be your anchor. You started off great. But the seams are starting to show. Don't disappoint us. I can always Instacart and you would not even be on the list.

Re: Overcharges and puts in wrong gas…read more This used to be a BP gas convenience store, but changed to Sam's Mart #79 (Exxon) over a year ago. It is a very small store with only one employee. The gas at this location has always been priced about $0.10 to 0.15 higher than the half-dozen other gas stations less than a mile away. I had never dropped by before since it is just as easy to go to the other side of the block for cheaper gas. The day I did drop by, I got their Regular gas (I am absolutely sure), but the pump (#1) charged me at their Supreme premium gas rate. Frankly, I don't know if the problem is accidental or intentional. When I politely explained to the cashier that they had a defective pump, he was rude and dismissive, saying I could complain all I wanted but it was my problem not his. I was indignant, but he was right. There is no supervisor and no way to contact the owner. All I can do is report them to the department that regulates the state's gas pumps and write this review to warn others about being overcharged here: There are so many cheaper and nicer options just around the block.
