A great shopping experience, far beyond local chains. They are super well-stocked and have an active deli section that makes sandwiches on order as well as selling meats and cheeses. Also, they maintain a hot line for to-go meals ready to eat and their deli fried section offers by the piece fried chicken, chicken tenders, shrimp and other items, hot and ready to take home, or eat in your car. I absolutely love Publix on Gold Hill! Exemplary customer service, especially from the Pharmacy department staff! Tammy the manager of the Pharmacy department always made me feel safe and secure with the information she provided concerning my prescriptions to include the vaccines. She always has a smiling face and encouraging words! I will definitely miss her being full-time. It's no secret why Publix has moved into this area and quickly established themselves. They have great customer service. Everyone smiles, asks if they can assist and are genuinely helpful. They have a great selection of quality products, many are there own brands. I especially like their deli. They always have a selection of grilled wings and other grilled chicken options. They always have fresh pies, their Key Lime pie is exceptional and they have two sizes. They have various types of cheese cake as well. Their prices are very competitive and they do offer specials. You don't have to be a 'member' to obtain their lowest prices. The store is always clean and well stocked. The check is always a good experience, 90% of the time they have a cashier and a bagger and if needed they will assist taking your groceries out to your vehicle. read more

I typically go a bit farther than my Harris Teeter to this Publix. 90% of the employees go above and beyond with a smile on their face! Shout out to Grandma Publix and the seafood man especially! It is always clean. If I order a sub online, it is correct. I've had a few minor mishaps with having to return bad seafood or an expired product I didn't realize when buying. I love Publix. Having lived in South Florida for a decade, they were the "go to" shopping experience. Friendly service, great selection, reasonable prices. And now they've come to the Greater Charlotte area, bringing their excellent products with them. Here's something different. They don't have the usual cart corrals out in the parking area that annoyingly take up an otherwise perfect parking spot. They've put the corral into the concrete with a single lane. It's not as large as the ones you'll find at Wal-Mart or Bi-Lo or Teeter, but I think it's classier. I'm overall happy with Publix. Loved their bakeries and crazy about their subs. I get excited when I see their selections in their veggies section.. So much option and very fresh.. The butchers are great and a few seafood options. I do notice their prices are higher than Bi Lo.. I don't really shop at Harris Teeter so I can't say if they are higher or lower. The downsize is they don't have store value card, point cards etc.. I hope they have something else that can help us save more. Meanwhile since my favorite Bi Lo is closing. Be careful of your special order cakes! I ordered a standard design they offer, 10 days prior to my baby's first birthday. The decorator took zero effort to make this cake special or pretty. There are so many flaws! And, let's not even talk about Heidi in the floral department, and her terrible attitude. I've had several negative encounters with her, as I frequently go to Publix for my balloons and flowers, for all kinds of special days and celebrations. They almost beg you to take your groceries to your car to unload them. Employees in the aisles and those stocking products actually look you in the eyes and speak to you. I did not eat the sub until hours after I left publix today, so it was too late to take it back. I ordered a chicken tender sub and received a roast beef sub. My daughter's first birthday party just passed, and I can't say enough good things about my experience start to finish with the bakery and event planning team at the Gold Hill Publix. I honestly had no idea a grocery store had event planning services, but my girl Kimberly helped me through the entire process. This included pricing, suggestions for catered food based on my party size and taking my pinterest ideas and making them come to life. She followed up several times with me between when I placed my initial order up to the day before delivery....oh did I mention that because my order was over $150 total that they delivered? Any Mom planning a party knows there are a lot of balls in the air and this took one more thing off my plate. The one negative - they don't take tips! And seriously they deserved it. read more

I used to shop at Publix in Florida and always liked it. Staff seemed pretty happy. Multiple times up here I've heard the 'managers' talk abusively to their workers, loudly insult them to other employees, and comment on womens bodies. Gross and unprofessional. Everyone I know who has gotten a job at these Publix in Carolina have regretted it severely, treated like sweatshop cattle, no benefits, and get 'full-time' dangled like a carrot indefinitely. This Publix location needs to do something about the deli/sandwich area. I dread having to go there. They have so many people behind the counter and some are standing around it seems. The wait is always so long. I went in for a sandwich and waited about 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged I was standing there even though Adam was standing right at the counter. He looked right at me and eventually just walked away and left the area without saying a word or asking if I needed anything. Another visit to the deli & they continue to have major communication problems. We ordered 2 small orders over an hour before we picked up @ the deli counter...the lady there claimed our order was still in the oven and we would have to wait. Several minutes later I noticed she opened the door where completed orders are stored awaiting pick up, apparently she never checked there in the 1st place. We were on lunch that's why we called so we would not have to wait. Then we got salads off of the salad bar there were empty containers of a variety of dressings AND they ran out of 2go containers for the few bottles that were not empty...again when I asked the lady gave me 4 containers and said "we dont have lids"....GET IT TOGETHER PEOPLE, PLEASE. This never happens at the publix in Ballantyne. Maybe a few of the deli workers need to go over there for training. read more

Publix always has what I want. And likely they have everything I don't even know I want. I stop at this location quite often. They have a great setup and an amazing selection. They never fail to fill my cart and that's always a good thing. My challenge with this particular store is with customer service. I'm not sure why, but every time I go they seem to have to few people at checkout. I just popped in to pick up 4 items. It took me 30 secs to park and less than 2 minutes to find my ginger ale, bag of chips and Pace Picante Salsa. Then I headed to the front to checkout and that's where the drama always begins. Two lines were opened when I reached checkout. Both lines had folks lined up and as it happens everybody had full carts. Ugh! I saw a team member standing in another lane but it wasn't opened. I asked him if he could take me since I only had 4 items and he directed me to the much longer lines. Fine. I went and stood there patiently. Then, less than 2 minutes later he walked to the 3 patrons in line behind me and told them he was opened and could take them. What what? I guess I was invisible. Must be the only reason I was passed over. I bit my tongue and waited for the ladies in front of me to finish. Oh wait? PRICE CHECK! Delay, delay. COUPONS....delay, delay. Meanwhile the newly opened line was moving at WARP 9. Captain Picard was at the helm and he was scanning items so fast all I saw was a blur. 3 people checked out, then 4! I'm in grocery Hell. I looked up and finally I moved up and the scanning began....scan 1,2,3,4! Done. Took longer for me to write the word "Scan" than it took to check to me out. I am a crazy person for good customer experiences. Today, Publix was an epic fail. I'm just beyond myself that I wasn't asked to come to the new line since I initiated it's beginning. Best store around in service. Everyone is very friendly here. They help load items at checkout and will load them into your car. It's a nice feature to reduce the number of times I have to touch my groceries! Grocery shopping can be so exhausting! It's nice to go to a store where you recognize the employees and where they recognize you. Love the deli counter because they give you a sample of what you are getting sliced. The produce guys are nice and always asking if I need help. Pharmacy is kind as well. Going to move all my scripts here because of that. read more

I am a die hard HT shopper, express lane and all. Yet I still find myself stopping at Publix regularly. From the cookies for kids (actually baked in the bakery) to the obsessively friendly front end staff, I have absolutely nothing bad to say. At first I was taken off guard by the car walking (I can push a cart thank you), but I soon realized what an amazing service it is (yes, you can push while I put my card and receipt away). And if it's raining? Just wait out front and they'll walk you, kid, and groceries to the car with a golf umbrella- seriously, what grocery store does that?? Is it weird to give a supermarket a 5 star review? Maybe but I'm here for it!!! They always have a huge selection of fruit and it's always good. The cheese lady (connoisseur would be a better name) is amazing and always has such helpful suggestions. The fish guy (sorry is there such a thing as a fish connoisseur?) is always on point with his suggestions and recipes. The cashiers are so helpful and almost battle me to help me get to my car lol. I was visiting friends in the area last weekend and wanted to get a dessert to go with dinner, so my friend brought me to Publix. I've heard of it, but being from the Northeast I was never able to go to one. After seeing that bakery and literally having my friend say "that's enough sweets!" I think its a good thing they don't have them here! The selection was fantastic, not just in the bakery but in the entire store and the prices were fantastic as well. Customer service was excellent, maybe its the South, but everyone was so friendly. I didn't check out very much of the grocery section, but the store itself was neat and clean, well stocked and another reason for me to want to move to the South! that and the pecan coconut cookies I bought in the bakery that I'm not sure I can ever re-create, but I'm planning on trying!! read more

We shop at most all stores to find the best prices, a friend of mine drove down from Newton and we came all the way down from Charlotte to see what all the media blitz was about, expecting great things. Let me tell you it was a waste of time and gas, on many items they had higher prices then my local Food Lion, Sadly we were not impressed at all the store was clean the employees were great but the prices in a region where the gas prices are lower then in Charlotte by at least $.30 per gallon, I was shocked the prices were so high. The all natural mint soap we got, not so all natural more glycerin then mint. The publix dog biscuits not such a hit with the pups. The white seedless grapes were awesome. Watching what I spent still spent $18 and only left with 2 bags, not the kind of bargain I am used to. I seriously doubt I will ever go back, they really need to step up their game with these high prices, this was a total waste of time. Wow. Yes this store has great produce and selection, but that's just the beginning. On multiple occasions they have gone above and beyond what anyone would expect for our local community. Every time I have gone in to ask for a donation for the Fort Mill high school band they have helped us more than we could ever expect. My husband and I love Publix. We live and work close so we are there almost daily. Their selection is fresh and they always have several brands to choose from. The one thing I'm most impressed with is their customer service. We truly are there so often I feel like a lot of the employees are friends. I'll have to update with all the names but one woman in the deli is amazing, Candice in the customer service is so kind as are a bunch of other women at the check out. The meat department is very educated too and very helpful. Their BOGO's too are amazing. I know a lot of people "think" their more expensive but honestly their pricing is great and their sales are awesome!
