Which I've had multiple times where I asked to have a human bag my 10lbs of chicken breast to make sure there's not blood clot chicken breast bc that is a waste of time and money to throw it away or have to take it back to get it replaced. Ok, I kind of have an addiction. I've been here three weeks in a row (and I don't live all that…read moreclose). The maple iced donuts are still making me teary; I wish they'd sell the icing by the bowl so I could eat it with a spoon. But even I wouldn't drive this far this often just for donuts. The first week it was the peaches that brought me back, because I'm just not finding decent peaches in grocery stores. But then last week I also tried a couple ears of corn, and it was quite possibly the best I've ever had, so I had to come back this week to get a bunch more of that. This place just makes me happy.

It was July, so I wasn't sure I'd even find anything. Haus Red Apple Orchard & Cider Mill came up in my search. It's pretty from the outside, but from the inside it seemed a little bare. There were a number of tables set up with different items on them. They did have a few donuts, but they didn't have much of a cider taste to them. It may just have been the wrong time of the year to get them. I tried the cider slushie as well which was very tasty. Unfortunately today they weren't selling hot cider, but there were free samples of cold cider which was excellent and for the germaphobes, me included, yes it is pasteurized. There were a variety of apples for sale (Empire, Red Delicious, Courtland, Crispon, Golden delicious, Galas) most of which were $5-6 a bucket. The store is filled with pretty much anything that you can imagine is apple or has to do with apples. I bought a bunch of apples and some cider all of which came to only $9.80. (I've uploaded a picture of my bounty) The highlight of the visit was cider slushies sold up front and fresh dough-nuts. We were fortuitous enough to arrive when hot cinnamon dough-nuts were being brought out. It's a drive from Cleveland, but I happened to be in the area because it's halfway between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. This is my first apple farm in Ohio, so I have no basis for comparison, but Haus certainly surpassed my expectations of deliciousness.

I was shocked to find that they had expanded and doubled the size of their store, which is excellent for them. What isn't excellent is how much their prices have shot up. I know everything is going up and accept that, but this was even beyond what I consider the other "expensive" fruit stands in the area. I did a circuit of the store and left without buying anything (which has never happened before).
