Great prices and selection. Plenty of generic options. Fresh Veggies seem to last long than other other stores

First off, we went on a Friday early evening the week the strawberries were ready for picking and it was PLENTIFUL. So many berries. My family and I all agreed that we would only be picking enough to eat at home and that's it. No jamming, canning, freezing, etc. Yet the berries were so perfect, so ripe and beautiful we somehow picked a full tray each, even in the 90 degree, 60% humidity heat. NO REGRET! It's still super easy to go here. Drive up, grab your tray, pick your berries, drive back and get them weighed (there's stall with mixes for baked goods, jams, and more plus bottled beverages if the heat is getting to you). I can't remember exactly but it shook out to be around 2.59 a pound I believe (but don't quote me on that) and I got $23 dollars worth. Now I have nearly 9lbs of strawberries in my fridge for snacking, baking, and more. But don't expect jam this year. I haven't the energy for that!

Pack sandwiches & have a picnic after! Pro tip: check the website, their Facebook page, or call them every year to see how the crop is doing and when it will be ready for picking. If you wait too long you'll miss out because they get picked pretty quickly.

They carry some zingermans products and their catering is very convenient around the holidays. They carry Christmas trees in the winter and lots of herbs, flowers, etc outside in the warmer months. I *love* their quiches. They have become a holiday staple in our family on Christmas and Thanksgiving morning. Lately I've been coming for postpartum prepared meals because I know their ingredients are decent. Everything is a bit pricey, but I know the stuff is quality and we've had such a good experience with their catering department. That we will be shopping here for a long time.

Only place in town I could find rhubarb the last week of March - Michigan grown! I was surprised but delighted to browse their extensive selection of craft beers, ciders, and non-alcoholic beverages. This is definitely a good place to go if you're looking for something fun to try, or to bring something unique to a dinner party etc. They also have meat, dairy, a lot of ready-mades, and a nice looking salad bar. It is overall more expensive than other grocery stories, but presumably shopping here is supporting a local business and local farmers.

I've tried a variety of CSAs and farm boxes over the years, ranging from stellar to truly weak ---…read moreand Sunseed just might be my favorite. The summer greens and veggies are wholesome and still-dirty-from-the-field fresh; the winter gives a mix of storage roots and sturdy hoop-house produce. My favorites from the past year have been beets, kale, chard, romanesque (crazy fractal cauliflower), tomatoes, and cucumbers. There's definitely a Michigan cast to the selection; some months it's every bit as colorful as the Full Belly Farm box we got in Berkeley, some months it makes me think of Laura Ingalls Wilder's root cellar with a side of hoop-house lettuce. Everything's from right on the farm (unlike a "farm box" we once got that included bananas). A full share is about right for 3-4 people; we used to get a half share (a full portion each pickup, but only every other week), and we now split a full share with another couple. We haven't ended up with a freezer full of butternut squash (always a danger in Berkeley), but finishing the jalapeños while they're fresh sometimes takes planning. I usually pick up from the Friday morning Old West Side stop on Sunnyside (it's hosted in a customer's driveway); I occasionally get out to the farm itself for the Thursday afternoon distribution, which is just off Joy and makes a good dirt-road bike ride. Winter CSA in Michigan? I wasn't expecting to be impressed, but I am.

The kale is amazing, the spinach is huge, the freshness of everything is unmatched. I've never tasted lettuce like the lettuce I received last week, so fresh and full of flavor I've never known lettuce to have. This farm offers a year round CSA opportunity and we are anxious to experience every season with them. Signing up is super simple and prorated, so signing up now will get you a reduced rate since the weeks have now decreased. You can sign up and pay right on their website which is also full of loads of great information about their mission and how they grow the vegetables you are eating. They also follow all standards set by the National Organic Program and do not use any chemicals or substances that are not allowed under an organic certification, although they have decided not to become certified organic. You have to taste their veggies to really understand the freshness and the taste, it's unbelievably fresh. I believe when they say they strictly stick to the organic standards and am comforted to know that I am feeding my family fresh, healthy, chemical free food! I would definitely recommend a full share to anyone, even if you only have two people in your family. It's easy to go through your veggies in a week. CSA shares are structured as follows: Full Share- pick up every Thursday or Friday at your choice of two locations. Half Share- pick up every OTHER Thursday or Friday at your choice of the same two locations. We currently have a half share and I am going to try and upgrade. BEST CHOICE WE'VE MADE! Thank you SunSeed Farm.

This is a super cute spot that specializes in smoked meat and sausages... yes please. We ordered at the counter and the employees were very friendly and helpful with great suggestions. I got the Michigan asparagus, onion, and cheddar brat, and Nate got the currywurst. We also got a cup of chili to share. We got a buzzer for our order and then sat down in the heated outdoor space. They have a lot of outdoor seating and some firepits, so I really want to come back in the fall or summer. Our food was done quickly and we had fun picking stuff from the toppings bar. They had chopped onions, jalapenos, banana peppers, sauerkraut etc. and lots of sauces. I LOVED the brat. It was easy to bite and not super snappy which I didn't mind. The bun was perfectly toasted and the flavor combination was delicious. Kind of like a broccoli cheddar vibe. I had some of the currywurst which was also delicious! The chili was packed with brisket and pulled pork, and was really tasty. There is a bar so you can enjoy a beer with your sausage, but we just grabbed some cold drinks from the cooler. They even have ice cream and floats!! There are lots of great items for sale as well, including lots of pickled things, frozen pierogi, meat sticks and jerky, and they even have Trenary Toast (#iykyk). I am already planning my next visit to try more brats and the brisket sandwich. This is such a great concept and I really wish we had a place like this in Grand Rapids.
