I cook a lot of middle eastern food, and I love coming to Greenland for my supplies. The prices a very reasonable, especially on wacky Wednesdays. If you're not down to be around a crowd, don't go on Wednesdays. They are really great for their produce, as well as Halal meat, nuts, and spices. I also like olive oil imported from Greece, and they stock it. You can also get unique cheeses and middle eastern yogurt. The good news, is for those looking for "American" ingredients, you can find them there as well. The bummer-in the refrigerated section they don't do the best job with keeping an eye on dates. For example, I purchased some boiled chickpeas and they were bad (spoiled). Some of the tabouli salad lacked brightness and looked like it was time to get off the shelf. The staff has always been friendly with me, and the lines move very fast. Another bummer is the parking lot. It's CRAZY and I've almost been in so many accidents there. I was shopping at Greenland Market (beechdaly) on a Sunday morning. The boy at the checkout charged me $4.39 for bulk bulghur when I did not even purchase bulghur. I told him I did not buy any bulghur, only masri rice and bulk chick peas listed at 0.49c/lb. The owner heard me and rushed over. The chick peas are not 49 cents he stated. "That was a sale and the sale ended yesterday." I said well if the sale ended, then remove the sign that says 49cents/lb. He answers "Ma Bady" meaning I don't want to. Instead of being worried that his cashier was charging me an additional $3 that he may be pocketing, he is arguing over a few cents in the cost of the chick peas. I went on 8-17-23. I was appalled ! A lot of the fruit was rotten with fruit flies everywhere. Tomatoes were mushy. Bread was dated same day ( Friday). Cases of bottled water in hot sun. It wasn't a bad but it wasn't good - I honestly was hoping for something more than i got disappointed. A good friend of mine suggested this business (not necessarily this location) but this location was closer to me. I went in there with a whole idea that this will be a large location with a whole bunch of variety; unfortunately this is just a common grocery store. Since there's another fruit market closer and larger (not going to promote business in another business) but I'll just go there. I went to this place in the hopes of finding some nice meat product at a reasonable price for my pup. Overall, the meat counter looked run-down and not as clean as I'd love to see it. The prices were also slightly higher than my other Middle Eastern meat markets. Also, the guy at the counter acted like I was putting him out by being there. Also, greenland provides global produce at lower price. Although, I don't recommend for south Asian items. A couple of weeks ago I went forward with a very misguided plan to detox my system by sticking to fruit and veggie juice for a few days. I lasted 18 hours before succumbing to a bowl of soup. I'm awesome, obvi. But when I was still in the throws of fruit and veggie excitement I went to Greenland to stock up on these juicy treats. It was my first trip and after driving by so many times and hearing about their Super Greenland location in Dearborn I guess I was just expecting more? Sure, they had a ton of fruits and veggies for decent prices, but I guess I was expecting more of them? A wider variety? I don't know what else I was looking for but I just walked in and said "oh." Not that this place is bad in the slightest. The fruits and veggies are cheap and plentiful. The aisles are large enough to let two carts through side by side (unlike some other markets where it's really packed), and they have a great selection of canned and dry goods and Middle Eastern food products. Since I was abstaining from solids I didn't look too closely but I made mental notes to come back and stock up on halva and other treats. The meat counter has a butcher and large cuts of meat sitting behind the glass, all of which is halal and decently priced as well. In general the place is pretty good. I wish that more time had been put into renovating though. It's in the former location of Sav-Mor Drugs and I didn't really see much by way of sprucing up. I wasn't wowed enough to really want to come back all that often but if I'm in a pinch or looking for Middle Eastern goods and snacks it'll be the place I pop into. read more

Produce is CHEAP while largely organic and seasonal. Most of the seasonal groceries are also supplied by MI or OH farms. I really enjoy the olive and nut bar (free to sample before purchasing!). Meat at Super Greenland is freshly supplied and butchered, organic and free-range halal chicken are also available. Many middle eastern items are made right here in Dearborn. The owner is always in the store working at a cash register or greeting and helping customers. If you give him a suggestion or request that he stocks a certain item, he will actually do it. He is very friendly and his level of humility and engagement are not something you will ever find at Kroger or even the East Dearborn Super Greenland. I have noticed that there are some reviews complaining that the place is chaotic. Most likely these people came in on a Wednesday, during the super Wednesday sale. The prices on Wednesday are cheaper than usual but I avoid the Wednesday sale because of the enormous crowd that comes with it. Wednesday sale items are also usually towards the end of their marketable shelf life, and go bad quickly. Things that you should buy at Super Greenland: -Produce (esp. seasonal) -Mid East groceries (Labne, molokhia leaves, etc) -Spices (SUPER cheap compared to Kroger) -Olives -Nuts -Tea -Cooking Oils Things you can get a better deal on elsewhere: -American groceries (cereal, ice cream, etc) -Halal Meat (Greenland meat is slightly more expensive than most other halal butchers but the convenience and organic and free range options make it worth it to me) TL;DR: Super Greenland deserves a 5 star review because of it's great selection, pricing, organic, seasonal and local products and customer service. read more

Flip a coin! You are either getting great fruit or horrible fruit. It's like playing the lottery at this store. It's cheap! So maybe, so what if your garlic cloves are harder than rocks. Apples taste good the first day, the second day you throw them out. The fresh breads are reheated and you can only get them in the morning. The meat section is very comical! The butchers will stare at you and only wait on people they know. I was first in line and was ignored for about five minutes and then someone walked up and they serviced her very good. Seriously I understand the language and hear them talking about me, so I just laugh! Now to the registers. Are these girls getting paid $2 an hour? Because they act like they are overworked and never give a greeting. Well, after hearing positive reviews and some comments on Greenland's dirt cheap fruit & veggie prices, I decided to give them a try... When I was pulling in, the parking lot was jammed packed, and people were rolling in and out of the place like they were giving away free money! I was thinking, this is a good sign!!! Well, after walking in to a complete madhouse, and seeing 4 + isles mixed with fruits and veggies I thought this was going to live up to all the hype. However, they didn't... I bought 2 bags of bread from Greenland Market @ Ford Rd, Dearborn Heights. The tag says the bread is best sold by July 6. I bought June 30 (3days ago). The store won't return it, won't give me store credit, and won't settle for 50%. Worse than that won't treat me with respect. The young man who claims to be the owner treats me with suspicion. Wilted produce greeted me as I entered, hoping for some fresh halva. The bakery displays...mostly empty. Prices on the Ann Arbor high side. A tad bit dangerous for mobile impaired folk like myself who nearly tripped as my foot encountered five gallon oil containers on the floor next to the shelves. Other aisles were a tricky also. This location is much larger than the one on Warren Avenue. Same cheap vegetables and fruits, but more selections. An awsome section of teas. Larger meat counter with marinated offerings. Fresh made hommus, garlic paste and take home fattoush salad. Huge selection of pita breads to choose from. Small, large, thick and thin. White flour and whole wheat. There is large section of tobaccos and hookahs at the front of the store. Then the kicker, no baklava. Ahh, but there's a bakery/cafe offering baklava and other middle eastern sweets next door. More on this later. In my book this is the preferred location and I will be back many times. read more

This place has good prices for middle eastern specialty items you can't find elsewhere. I was reluctant to give it even 3 stars, however, due to the rudeness of the staff toward anyone not of middle eastern decent. I've gone in this store probably monthly throughout the years and it's a constant. I have been nothing but polite, friendly and outgoing to anyone I've encountered there from the stockers to the cashiers. They make it painfully obvious they do not like you unless you're a family member or fellow middle eastern person. I have noticed how nice and friendly they are with others, but to the rest of us who are not middle eastern they are down right rude. Someone needs to tell them this isn't good business. Yes, the parking lot is crazy Yes, the store could use some updates (but really when you can get 4 pineapples for $5.00, 4 quarts of strawberries for $5.00 and 20 lemons for a buck - Come ON People) Yes, the crowd is a little nutty on Wacky Wednesday but it is after all named appropriately! I had driven by this market on my way to work one afternoon and saw their *huge* lcd sign flashing prices that I thought had to be typos- 13 lemons for a $1?? Eggplant for 69 cents? Being on the lookout constantly for awesome deals, i stopped in before work one afternoon. I was not disappointed with the prices inside, either. Romaine lettuce (huge, fresh heads) were TWO FOR A DOLLAR! (romaine is usually $2.99 a lb at most grocery stores- hence my overzealousness!). Lemons, while one the small side, were indeed 13 for $1. All of my go-to produce items- tomatoes, cukes, parsley, cilantro, green onions- all had unbelievable prices. I do agree with Annette, though, that the market does leave a little bit to be desired visually. But I have been to other fruit markets that have looked waaaay worse ( cough- ahem, Randazzos in westland) I like this place because it reminds me of an open air market in new york- busy, awesome deals, with products from around the globe. Aside from the produce, they also sell baked goods from the new yasmeen bakery, fresh meat and a decent selection of regular grocery store items: dairy, canned goods, etc. Since i work so close, Greenland has become my new produce place. Oh my darling, Greenland market! if I'm going through a rough patch in my relationship, you supply the baklava and decently priced produce that keeps me sane. Not to mention you're right next to a sweet shop! That right there will get you an extra star! Silliness aside, this is a great little corner market. The produce is always priced beautifully and taste great. It also has a great selection of Middle Eastern food and hookahs. Owner is great. Staff is semi friendly. Products are filled! And fruits are usually the freshest on Thursday/Friday. They always have deals going it's great! But sometimes they could be a bit pricier than most places but still a great deal. My mother and I went in there to get some ground beef, we stood at the meat counter for about 20 to 30 minutes. when it came to our turn to be waited on all the employees avoid eye contact and one on one contact. Finally a one of the men behind the counter tried speak with me. I asked for a package of ground beef, and pointed to some behind the counter, he started saying something I or my mom didn't understand. A lady standing to asked me what did I want I told her, pointing at the package, this pacage of me or one like it. she spoke back to him. she sais they were all out of mashed meat. But yet they were still giving the same thing I wanted to other as they came up. Oh I forgot I am an American woman. I really like Greenland. The prices are great, and this makes a significant difference when I am juicing and going through large amounts of produce. This place is fantastic for produce and other middle eastern goods. I mostly go for the produce which is really well price. You will have to look at some things closely because I have notice some goods are borderline fresh. I also love the olive and nut selection. The main focus is the prices at this market which is fantastic considering the other major supermarkets can leave your pocketbook broke.
