For most people, they don't think about their garage door torsion springs until one day they can't open their garage door to get their car out due to a broken torsion spring, and then this becomes an emergency and they would rush to find a garage door company to replace the torsion springs. It is often a couple years later that they realize the quality of this torsion springs replacement job when the spring breaks again. This was certainly the situation for me a couple of years back. I rushed to check Yelp and contacted Alert Door Service due to their so called reasonably good overall ratings. They replaced my torsion springs, and left me an invoice that said "One Yellow, One White" torsion springs with no description of the wire gauge, inner diameter and spring length. A short couple of years later (this includes the Pandemic years when nobody was going to work and thus garage door was not opened/closed daily), one torsion spring broke again. This time, I called a different garage door company. When I asked this company why the spring broke after such a short few years when my original springs lasted 16 years, the guy said because I had an unmatched pair of springs, the stronger spring was doing most of the work lifting the garage door, thus that one broke. Danny from Alert Door Service was an incredible help to us. We have two sliding garage doors (one disabled) that were installed decades ago, and one of them had multiple problems. Some companies that we called didn't even want to work on anything other than overhead doors, but Danny showed up and not only dealt with the aging hardware without any complaints, but figured out how to fix the numerous problems using what already existed. We had a little accident where our car accidentally ran into our garage door (note: the clutch pedal does not function as well as a brake pedal when trying to stop a car...). After doing some research, I decided to reach out to Alert Door Service to have them inspect/repair our door. I e-mailed photos of the damage and Darlene stated that she would have Danny come by the next day to perform the repairs. Danny and Jay came out exactly when promised to check out the door. I've used Alert Door Service several times over the last ten years, most recently to entirely replace my garage door opener. I would say the business is responsive....I have always been able to get service within 24 hours, but maybe some of that is luck. The home office was able to look up prior service calls and tell me how old my springs were (impressive). Their technicians always impress me as well trained. My most recent Tech, Joe, has been with them for three years. Joe went through several diagnostic steps before concluding that my 18 year old opener perhaps should be fully replaced. I agreed and asked if he minded if I watch him work and he said no problem. I enjoyed watching him meticulously do the steps I am sure he had done many times before. Several small steps were thoughtful and would lead to a professional outcome. I offered to help when it came to lifting the unit for bolting in, but he had a special device allowing him to do it single-handed (a stand that holds the motor until he can bolt one end.) He replaced our keypad and helped program the car remotes as well as configure the new door in the MyQ app. I had MyQ as an add-on device to my old opener (it basically connects your garage door to the internet and a phone app) but was pleased to learn that it is now incorporated in the new Liftmaster. The result was a very professional install and the price I paid was fair. I've heard the business is family owned and I appreciate that they provide such good service to the community and train-up and provide jobs to guys like Joe. Five stars I say!! read more

Danny was over at our neighbor's house today to work on their large and motorized driveway gate. After seeing their truck out front, I walked over from my house to the neighbors driveway gate to talk with Danny from Alert Door Service to see if he had a few minutes to look at our old and broken latch on our rickety old driveway gate. Not only did Danny come over to have a look at our broken gate, but then he went out to his truck and pulled out some stainless steel, his grinder, drill and screws and he so kindly fixed it right on the spot!
