I got a handful of "I need to see the garage in person to give a quote" and then they will try to make you feel bad for their drive out there if you don't accept their absolutely ridiculous cost for the repair. What a waste of a couple hours. When Trevor responded, he asked me to send pictures of my garage door and gave me a detailed quote over text. His total price for materials AND labor was a fraction of the cost for LABOR ALONE of our highest quote which was from an incredibly pushy guy who left us with an unsettling feeling in addition to a garage that reeked of cologne. We recently moved into a house that needed a new garage motor. I had remembered Trevor and Peninsula Garage Door Repair from a year or so ago when they worked on the house I was renting, so I reached out! On our first call, I explained the issue I was having and Trevor offered some troubleshooting steps over the phone and then agreed to stop by to take a look. Their assessment was that there could be a quick fix that I could do myself, but would gladly quote us on a new motor, door etc. We decided to go and replace the door and motor since both were old and Trevor got back to me quickly with a solid quote. We have used Peninsula Garage Doors several times in the past for our properties and we are extremely pleased with the work provided by Trevor. In February of this year, he replaced a broken spring. He responded to our call almost immediately so that our tenant was not inconvenienced. The garage door worked fine until recently (6 months after the replacement). I noticed that the garage door wasn't going up as high as before. Trevor came out to inspect the door and he adjusted the tightness of the spring. The garage door is now working fine again. After doing the repair, he noticed that one of the roller wheels was wobbly and was probably near the end of its life. He promptly replaced the roller wheel. He did not charge for this service call nor did he charge us for the new roller wheel that was installed. I can't say enough great things about Trevor and Chris from Peninsula Garage Door Repair! I originally called around to get quotes for changing my existing garage door opener (traditional) to a wall-mount, side mounted garage door opener that so many newer homes come with. I received pretty similar quotes across the board, but Trevor immediately offered to come by and measure and ensure that my garage indeed can fit a wall mount side mounted unit since there are some height and space restrictions. After they came by to assess my garage (within like 30 min??) Trevor also shared with me a few options based on the age of some parts of my door. It turns out that I would need a longer rod, and while I'm at it, I should get some newer springs since my whole set up is very old, and springs are only rated for 10 years. The work they do would require them to take off the springs anyway. While I mulled over this (it's always great to know more than less), it turns out I would have to re-spend the whole amount of springs/rod to get a new garage door anyway, so I ended up going that route. Trevor made it super easy, and somehow the garage door of my dreams (I know is that even a thing??) was available basically immediately. I was scheduled for a complete overhaul and Trevor and Chris came by at the agreed upon time and made quick work of everything. This sounds WILD, but I have not been this happy about a house mod in a very, long. time. I LOVE the new modern door with the modern flat panels, and to be honest if it wasn't for Trevor I don't think I would have pulled the trigger so quickly. The side mount fit perfectly, and everything looks incredibly clean and modern. Our garage spring broke and Trevor was very responsive and came out a few hours after I called. He helped open up our garage to let us get our car out so we weren't stuck. We had wanted to replace our old opener anyways so he came again later once he had all the parts and replaced both the broken spring and the old opener. I can see why this business has so many 5-star reviews. My old garage door opener died in a very dramatic fashion--in a puff of smoke. Okay, no need to try to repair this 30-year old sucker, it is officially dead. The day after I contacted three companies to get a quote to get a new one installed. Trevor was very responsive to my inquiry on Yelp, responding within an hour. After getting the three quotes, he was also the least expensive by several hundred dollars. I decided to go with this company due to: - very reasonable cost - many recent yelp reviews that were all 5-stars - responsiveness - brand (I wanted a Chamberlain brand as they got great reviews online) Trevor was able to come by the next day and install it.
