I have gotten my smog done here twice. I didn't pass the first time and they discounted the 2nd time when I passed. I found Alex while googling for a place nearby to quickly go in and fix the plastic section under my car that had torn off when it unexpectedly got caught in one of those cement parking blocks. I called Alex, explained my situation, and he said he could fix it. I drove there, sat and waited as he helped another person first, and about 30 minutes later all was done. He fixed the plastic section and replaced the clips for a total of $80. He has worked on my Ford CRN VIC, Toyota CAM and Chevy SUB all of which he quickly and accurately has technically diagnosed solving a range of issues. The check engine light recently came up and I took my car to an auto shop near me that I get my oil changed since moving to south Glendale. They told me that a sensor needs to be replaced, which I was skeptical about. I searched on Yelp and found Alex. I called and he was able to take a look at my car under short notice. Instead of jumping to a conclusion after reading the scanner, Alex was very honest and straightforward with the fact that there's no way of telling me what exactly is wrong without checking the car first. I knew immediately that Alex is an honest man that won't just say what you want to hear to get your money. After diagnosing the car, Alex told me that the sensor does not need to be replaced, instead, there was a minor plastic door thingy that isn't working property and I can either replace the whole part, which is extremely costly, or I can live with it as it won't really harm the car, like driving with a windshield that's chipped. I decided not to change the whole party because it's an older car and I don't want to spend money on anything that isn't 100% necessary. Couldn't have found a more perfect mechanic for an emergency brake job! On Monday, July 8, my daughter and I drove from San Diego to Glendale for her to take the cosmetology state board exam. On the way up, a rear brake started making metal-on-metal sounds and it was getting worse. After I dropped her off at 6:45 a.m., I sat in the car to yelp for a reliable, trustworthy and fast mechanic nearby. Based on his reviews, I chose Alex and sat outside his shop for him to arrive. Upon arriving, he had several customers eager for his attention, but the "smog guy" may have let him know I was sitting there first, so he came over to assist. He grabbed a light. From the outside he diagnosed a rear brake job. I explained I needed to get back at 10:30 for my daughter's break. He said he'd order the parts, have them ready to do the job when I got back. When I returned, he got to work and discovered I had damaged the rotor; it needed to be replaced; would take an hour to get it delivered. When I looked concerned, he put the heat on his parts guy and had it there under 30 min., assembled everything and test drove it. We drove back to San Diego safely that afternoon with the brakes working perfectly. Later I mentioned to my mechanic what Alex charged for the job and he said Alex was right on....very fair for the expedited work he did. I was grateful he worked around our schedule so my daughter would be stranded alone for hours waiting for me to get back. My daughter got her cosmetology license that day and Alex is now permanent part of her success story that day!! read more

I was greeted by a man who was rude and I believe it's the same person who was rude to another customer, Maria who gave a poor review as a result. That rude person was not Alex. A few minutes later, Alex arrived and I told him that AAA said that I have an alternator and battery problem. He checked it immediately and told me the alternator is fine but my battery will need changing soon and gave me some practical tips on battery type and costs. He did not charge me for that service. I definitely recommend bringing in your car for service here. I recently moved to the area and needed to find a new place to get an oil change for my Prius. I called to get a price quote, and asked if I could bring in my car right away. I arrived 5 minutes later, pulled up and began to have my car worked on. Very impressed with Alex, and I want to thank him again for the time he spent on my 2009 Toyota Matrix.
