I believe I was mistreated by this firm on two separate policies, for a period of time spanning…read moreseveral years. The fault seems to lie with one employee, who is no longer with the firm. One of the instances involved my representative going over, in detail, the policy she said she wrote for me, according to what I had requested, as I had moved out of my condo and needed to change the policy from tenant/owner, to a landlord policy. She never actually did it though, which the firm informed me of years later after the representative was no longer there. They did, however, collect my premiums for three and half years. Had there been an event to trigger a benefit, I would have no doubt been denied because I did not live there (a requirement under the old policy I requested changed). When I reported this they told me that since the actual policy was mailed, there is nothing they can do to make me whole for years of paying premiums for coverage I never had. So the position of Statefarm seems to be, despite listening intently to my insurance representative, I must also go through the mailed contract in detail, because Statefarm agents are not to be trusted. Just because an agent says, on several occasions, that a thing is done, and goes through the details over the phone, she might not actually do any of that, and Statefarm will not be held accountable for anything their agents do or say. The people at Mary Wilson State Farm always seem so nice, and I do not enjoy writing a bad review about any firm, particularly a small business. But, the individual consumer has little power in the marketplace, and generally cannot afford the time it takes to exercise that small power. Businesses should therefore be held accountable, to whatever small degree possible. Platforms such as this at least give the consumer the opportunity to share such experiences, instead of allowing the company to just sweep them under the rug.

I was recently searching for the phone number of the Matt Roberts Agency as I needed to discuss…read moresome upcoming changes to my policies when I came upon the previous review. I sympathize with the previous reviewer as it seems it's been a rough time and year for her and her family. However, my experience with the Matt Roberts Agency, and Tina in particular, has been quite different so I felt the need to share my experience with them. Several years ago, I made the decision to move my policies from another carrier. During that process, I spoke with both Tina and the owner, Matt Roberts. Based on my conversations with them, I decided to move my home and auto policies to Erie Insurance. Their rates are tough to beet by any of the larger insurance firms within Erie Insurance footprint. Earlier this year, we had hail storms pass through the Charlotte area, and my roof was damaged in the process. Prior to contacting a roofing contractor, I reached out to Tina to discuss the issue and determine next steps. She was very helpful in providing a clear and concise "next steps" timeline. She also provided information on the things I should be looking for in a roofing contractor. Once I decided on a contractor, she assisted with scheduling an appointment with the adjuster and my contractor. With the extensive damage on the roof, the adjuster recommended a new roof be installed. The process was very smooth from end to end, and I'm quite happy with the new roof that was installed. No more leaks! Tina and the agency have always been quick to provide quotes on changes I plan to execute with my policies. I recently dropped a vehicle from my policy as well, and lost the multi car discount provided by Erie Insurance. This isn't unusual and the same thing is done by my previous insurers as well. I think it's important to realize that decision is made by the insurer, not the agency itself. I will add that Tina was quick to answer any questions I had during this process, and was prompt with sending updated quotes for my review. I hope those reading these reviews will consider the experience I've had with the Matt Roberts Agency. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to my friends and family.
