I found a cool vintage ships binnacle that was converted into a lamp that I plan on polishing up and returning to a compass.. prices overall are fair some items can be pretty pricey, but they are in very good condition overall.. I definitely look forward to coming back to this Place soon. If you find an item that you love, but don't have room in your vehicle they do deliver with added cost.

This antique store in Downtown Los Angeles is focused on architectural details, like metal grills…read moreand iron work and lights of every known fixture. And a lot of antiquities focused on large scale decoration. One one hand, there are some beautiful pieces. The light fixtures are pretty impressive in their variety of age and style. It seriously gave me the "Damn, I wish I had a big house to decorate." Ultimately, though, that's why this place doesn't quite work for me. There are tons of things to look at, antique barber chairs, long dining tables, stamp dispensers from the 50's and Neo-Classical statuary. Fun eye candy. But the price point for almost everything is for the wealthy homeowner or the professional interior decorator. Even at the Mart Collective in Venice, which is a high end antique mall, had some things that were very reasonable (I bought some beautiful brocade pillows there). Here? Not so much. So, fun to rifle through if you're into antiques, but unless you have some fairly serious cash, not a lot of actual shopping opportunity.

Memento Mori is a slice of oddities and curiosities of all kinds for sure... From smoky quartz, amethyst and incenses to your accessories, skeleton keys and figurines to books, nooks and break in case of emergency vampire emergencies. They have some fun vintage movie posters, including in magnet form in the mix I'll definitely be back for! This Hollywood hidden gem sits pretty much by itself across from the Amazon Prime Experience theater off Wilcox Avenue/Sunset Blvd between Sunset and Selma Avenue. Street parking (meter), local parking garages and lots or the metro (a short stroll from Hollywood/Vine) are your foeful friend. Great customer service and so many attentions to detail displayed throughout their entire store. One thing I truly enjoyed/enjoy about Memento M. is their support of others, including several look clubs, organizations and events like the iconic She's in Parties goth night event every 4th Friday of the month. Open from Noon (12pm) to 6 daily, Thursday through Tuesday, with the exception of Wednesdays when they rest (are closed).

After Necromance, sadly, closed their brick and mortar shop, there was a brief period in time where…read moretheir combination of taxidermy and Victoriana was no where to be seen. I'm a big fan of Gold Bug in Pasadena, but they are not quite as "dark" in their aesthetic. Memento Mori, on the other hand, feels like a pretty good replacement. So, what are you going to find here? Well, as you may have guessed from my intro, taxidermy. The classic boars and deer heads preserved as wall ornaments...but also delicate butterflies beautifully arranged under glass domes. While no where near as extensive a collection of preserved animal parts as Necromance, there still is a decent collection, particularly for decor. Memento Mori also lacks the strong mothball smell that permeated the aforementioned store. There is a large collection of silver jewelry incorporating classic taxidermy elements, such as glass eyes. And lots of trinkets for those of a "gothic" aesthetic. They also carry a number of very comfortable tshirts bearing variations of their logo, one of which currently hangs in my closet. Memento Mori also appears to serve as a gothic community center: they always have flyers and posters advertising events such as Endless Night, a vampire-themed ball, or gothic-themed fairs for artisans. So, definitely worth a visit if your aesthetics or predilections lean to the darker side of life.

One of the photo booths was getting repaired but the other one was working perfectly and some people were using it. I made small talk with some people and this very kind older gentleman approached me to talk to me for a bit. I think he was the one in charge of the store for the afternoon/evening shift on a Saturday evening. 10/10 place.

If you're not a photo booth nerd you might not know that these are EXTREMELY RARE nowadays. There are probably less than ten of them in the US out for the public to use (maybe even fewer than that!) Anyhow Michael is a great guy and super friendly. Helpful and enthusiastic he invited me to some live bands playing there later in the day too so there's a lot more that must go on here aside from the furniture, photobooths and pinball. Definitely gonna be a regular stop of mine every time I am in LA!

Judy will often spend more time and gas going to inspect and pick up items that's your gain her loss. 2. Judy does research items and knows exactly what she has on a massive 2 building property...she's in her 80s. 3. This isn't a garage sale many of these are legit antiques, and some items does slip her detection system and are extremely low priced! Which is what kicked off the discussion as I was browsing for art supplies. I peeped the antique watches is in excellent condition just needing adjustment $35 and gold-filled is a steal!!! I would have snagged it if it wasn't in excellent condition as I respect workable items and repurpose the broken ones! Which is the thing that opened up the discussion where I found out all Judy does and that she's an artist on top! I want to be like Judy when I grow up! They try to separate the goods, keeping related things together. For example, dog pictures on one wall; musical instruments; crosses, or clothes. There's a small outdoor patio of stuff in the back, too. Then I visited the other warehouse. This one seemed to have more stuff than the other building. Basically, if you're looking for it, you can find it here. I couldn't believe my eyes, regarding how much stuff was in here! Overall, most of it's a little pricey, but it's a great place to walk around. It wasn't until I walked outside to the back that I literally found the kitchen sink.
