First they no longer had our reserved room. The room they gave us was gross putting it nicely. The towels were dirty not stained dirty. The walls had patches, bathroom was nasty, and the mattress was ripped on the side as if someone was hiding things in it. And we found a used condom in the bed. My husband went to ask for someone to clean the room and fresh towels and before he got two words out the lady at the front desk starts yelling at him. She follows him yelling to get out and get his streetwalker lady out of the room. I stepped out the room and said excuse me. She continues to tell me then to get out no street walkers allowed, and that she works for a living. I told her I would not leave until I got my money back. I had to call redwood city police. After telling her police where on the way she kept saying she wasn't afraid. I told her ok whatever and that I would leave after my 2 night stay was refunded. She runs inside office and comes out with a payment cancelled receipt. I have never felt so disrespected in my life and she is a definite racist. After I told her I called the police she kept yelling you people always call the police. I said I don't know what people she was talking about but I wasn't going to let her steal over $300. IF I WERE YOU I WOULD NEVER EVER CONSIDER THE CAPRI MOTEL (THE FLOP HOUSE). They must be making good money some way to stay open. Because obviously they can afford to talk to customers like that. In all my years and travels even to other countries I have never experienced such horrible conditions and even worse staff. I would rate this at -10 stars if it would allow you to and would not send my worst enemy here,

    Tenderloin

Yes the building is 90 years old, and is in fact one of the first residential buildings in San Francisco to be made from poured concrete. It's as stable as they get. The 1989 quake had no effect on this building and that's a huge plus! The old-world details in the lobby and apartments are finely appointed and part of the buildings draw and charm. Maggie'scomplaints: Yes, the windows are single pained, bummer, the winters are cold here in San Francisco, and that is something to consider, however, the management adheres to the city's heating code and runs the radiators in accordance to the guidelines set forth by city hall.....if Maggie has a problem, take it to the Mayor! We have space heaters, and our fireplace works well. We use it all winter. What Maggie doesn't understand is that all fireplaces below the 9th floor shouldn't be used as they were changed after the 1989 earthquake. In addition, weatherstripping the windows and putting up dense curtains made a huge difference in our place. Regarding water pressure/temperature......perhaps if Lazy Maggie woke up 20 minutes earlier she would shower before other tenants and have all the water her plump heart desired. I get up at 6:30 am and find that I have tons of pressure and scalding water if desired....in addition the building's water is solar heated making it almost ever-flowing. We have 3 showers in our apartment and have had 3 different people using them at once without incident! Noise, dirt and grime are present in Manhattan, Chicago, Los Angeles, and yes, here in San Francisco...If you elect to live on the busiest thoroughfare/bus line in the city, you should expect noise and dirt to be common factors. I found that some weatherstripping inside my windows cut down on the chill, the noise, and pollution. I clean my place at least 2 times a week, so perhaps Maggie's inherent laziness is the problem with the grime. The Management and Maintenance staff are always available, and helpful. I've never waited more that 1 day for anything to be attended to. Neighbors.....well no matter where you live, there is no controlling your neighbors actions. It sounds like speaking with the neighbor would be the best course of action, not blaming the building. As I stated before this building is poured concrete and sound rarely travels through the walls. If you can hear another's music, then that music IS too loud. All in all, if you can deal with the Tenderloin, this is a great building and I recommend it to anyone wanting to be in the heart of the bustling city.

One of the highlights of my stay was the exceptional service provided by the staff. Joyce, in particular, stood out--she was incredibly kind, funny, and genuinely helpful. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and her warm personality made a lasting impression. The rest of the staff were equally welcoming and attentive, always ready to assist with a smile. The hotel itself was very comfortable. The rooms were clean, well-maintained, and provided a relaxing space to unwind after a day of exploring the city. I also really enjoyed the pool area--it was a great spot to relax and recharge, adding an extra touch to the overall experience.

Appearance-wise, the Handlery definitely falls short. The hotel feels pretty dated overall, and I noticed peeling paint on both my bedroom and bathroom ceilings. The room itself was also on the small side, and the TV was so tiny it reminded me of the TVs I had as a kid. There were a few other little things that felt outdated or poorly thought out. The cups are too small for the coffee machine unless you're careful not to fill it with too much water. The coffee is Wolfgang Puck, but it comes in sachets rather than pods, which I'm not crazy about, and instead of actual creamers you get powdered packets--not exactly a gourmet coffee experience. The air-conditioning unit is old and noisy, although I actually found the sound almost ambient and didn't mind it. The water pressure in the bathroom isn't great but I loved that the water got hot quickly. The elevators are old and sluggish, but on the plus side, I appreciate that you don't need to use your room key to operate them. The handle on my toilet was loose, but I was impressed by how quickly the hotel fixed it after I reported it. The bed only came with two pillows, but it was pretty comfortable. More importantly, my room was surprisingly quiet, which I really appreciated and made it much easier to get a good night's sleep. The fitness center looks a little depressing, but the machines worked well, and thankfully it was pretty empty when I used it. Where the Handlery really does well is cleanliness and service. The hotel was very clean, and everyone I encountered, from the front desk staff to housekeeping, was consistently courteous. I also really like that the hotel is family-owned. There are photos and stories on a hallway wall about the multiple generations of family members who have managed it, which gives the hotel some personality and history that you don't get from a big chain. Overall, there's a lot about the Handlery that feels dated and could use some updating, but the cleanliness, quiet room, courteous staff, and family history gave me plenty to appreciate too. It's one of those hotels where I kept noticing flaws while also finding reasons to like it.

It's right across the street from Yoshis so that's a plus. Had to support Oakland's own and watch the Odyssey at 10pm. Cost was about $17 and I chose my own seat. If you need cash, there's a BofA ATM right across the street. I grabbed my ticket and waited a few minutes. Tip: when you buy your ticket at the self pay kiosk, you can just walk right in. At least that's what I was told. I waited in line at the concessions for nothing. I arrived early and was the only one in the theater. I wished I would have went back to my hotel & grabbed some socks. I wore my leopard faux fur coat luckily that kept me warm , but my slides exposed my feet and you know how cold theaters get. The theater was clean, but the seats were stained. I wonder how long it would take to steam clean some of these seats. A set of disposable flat sheets might be needed for some. Security on site & they reminded customers that if you parked in the parking structure to move your car as it closes at 1am & your car could be locked up for the night. The Odyssey was a great movie. Three hours long, but I was clapping and cheering rooting at the end. If you had to read Homer's The Odyssey in English Lit in high school, then you know the story line. If you've never heard of this story well you're in for a surprise. So many big name actors in this movie. Zendaya sure did get a lot of press for the film, but she had a few appearances. All were good. I wonder which Zendaya scene Christopher Nolan deemed perfect done in one take? Was it her last scene because that made me sad. Was it the scene before by the ocean shore. Anne Hathaway as Penelope played the perfect queen, the bitch Queen. Tom Holland had great scenes too, respectful to his mom, the queen even though she was a mean unsupportive bitch to her own son. Robert Pattison as Antinous, you slimy pu$$y, I hated your character, you did good at playing the scaredy cat at the end. Matt Damon as Odysseus whoa bravo. Oscar nominations are headed your way. Way to go to show them acting chops. Gen X still in the game. Cherlize Therón, you Lotus flower witch. Great costumes. Your scenes were flawless. Lupita Nyong'o the Nubian queen who played Helen of Troy. I was shooketh after your scene. Jon Bernthal, supporting actor nominations should be headed your way. Menelaus, were friend or foe? Schemeing & plotting. Great costumes. Hope I didn't give it away. Great movie, left the theater at 1:30am. Grateful it was showing in Jack London

The seats we reserved had some gross stains on it - and probably won't be cleaned for a while. Luckily it's not a full theatre so we were able to sit in other seats. Tiffany and Vanessa and co. deserve real praise for have been very responsive to our and our daughter's needs, for instance in working to boost enrollment in a class time that originally didn't have enough students to be offered. Tiffany even took time to respond personally to the few hiccups we had early on, which I was very impressed with considering how much she's got going on as a dancer and multiple business owner. The staff at the Livermore location are friendly and very hard-working, and we love that Tiffany's does go above and beyond in giving their dancers opportunities to perform on stage. They do a great job keeping the dance events organized and running smooth and on time, which is really commendable given there are scores of excited and nervous kids and parents running around like mad! Most importantly, Tiffany's staff have been making sure that there are as few distractions as possible taking away from what we really want, which is for our daughter to have positive, character-building interactions with the gifted dance instructors at Tiffany's. These are what keep her (and her parents) excited to come back to class here every week.

My daughter performed with the company from 2018-2021 at the Fremont and Livermore studios. The issues and problems that we ran into are still spilling over to my daughter's dancing. The teacher turnover is RIDICULOUS. Teachers come and go so often there, and it throws the dancers off. During the 2020-2021 competition season, in one month, we went through 3, yes THREE teachers. There is absolutely no consistency. There is absolutely no technique taught there. TDA spits our choreography and does not teach terminology, proper turnout, etc, etc, ETC!!!!! It's all recycled routines year, after year, after year. There is no originality whatsoever. My daughter went to dance competitions and conventions and she was lost when it came to basic terminology, and basic steps. We spent thousands of dollars with them, and looking back; what a waste! Miss Tiffany does not care at all. We mostly danced at Fremont, and I never, ever once saw her visit the studio. We danced at one competition and when Fremont studio was up, she walked out. Yes, she walked out and didn't watch our girls dance. We danced with her for years, and she wouldn't be able to pick my kid out of a lineup. Ms. Robbie who is the TDA Company director is great. I actually really, really like her and think she is fabulous. She was always really kind, fair, and accommodating for me and my daughter. Looking back, on our experiences there, we are blessed that we met such amazing girls. My daughter calls most of them her bff's and I'm so grateful for that. Even better, they still dance together at another studio. If you are looking for a recreational dance only place for your kids to have fun, go for it. If you are looking for a studio that will teach your kid PROPERLY, I suggest going somewhere else.
