My show at Yoshis ended at about 9:00pm. The night seemed early so I grabbed an ice cream, & it hit me that Regal always has late night showings. It's right across the street from Yoshis so that's a plus. Had to support Oakland's own and watch the Odyssey at 10pm. Cost was about $17 and I chose my own seat. If you need cash, there's a BofA ATM right across the street. I grabbed my ticket and waited a few minutes. Tip: when you buy your ticket at the self pay kiosk, you can just walk right in. At least that's what I was told. I waited in line at the concessions for nothing. I arrived early and was the only one in the theater. I wished I would have went back to my hotel & grabbed some socks. I wore my leopard faux fur coat luckily that kept me warm , but my slides exposed my feet and you know how cold theaters get. The theater was clean, but the seats were stained. I wonder how long it would take to steam clean some of these seats. A set of disposable flat sheets might be needed for some. Security on site & they reminded customers that if you parked in the parking structure to move your car as it closes at 1am & your car could be locked up for the night. The Odyssey was a great movie. Three hours long, but I was clapping and cheering rooting at the end. If you had to read Homer's The Odyssey in English Lit in high school, then you know the story line. If you've never heard of this story well you're in for a surprise. So many big name actors in this movie. Zendaya sure did get a lot of press for the film, but she had a few appearances. All were good. I wonder which Zendaya scene Christopher Nolan deemed perfect done in one take? Was it her last scene because that made me sad. Was it the scene before by the ocean shore. Anne Hathaway as Penelope played the perfect queen, the bitch Queen. Tom Holland had great scenes too, respectful to his mom, the queen even though she was a mean unsupportive bitch to her own son. Robert Pattison as Antinous, you slimy pu$$y, I hated your character, you did good at playing the scaredy cat at the end. Matt Damon as Odysseus whoa bravo. Oscar nominations are headed your way. Way to go to show them acting chops. Gen X still in the game. Cherlize Therón, you Lotus flower witch. Great costumes. Your scenes were flawless. Lupita Nyong'o the Nubian queen who played Helen of Troy. I was shooketh after your scene. Jon Bernthal, supporting actor nominations should be headed your way. Menelaus, were friend or foe? Pros: validates parking and has a garage across the street! Cons: old theatre and is need of some deep cleaning. The seats we reserved had some gross stains on it - and probably won't be cleaned for a while. Luckily it's not a full theatre so we were able to sit in other seats. I would come to this theatre more if they addressed the cleanliness aspect. read more

The theatre's web site advertised both a 7:30 and an 8:00 screening of the new Spiderman movie.  But there was no 8:00 screening.  I got there at 7:57, and the ticket-taker told me to just select "7:30" on the screen where I ordered tickets, and promised me that the movie hadn't started yet, that they were just showing 27 minutes of ads first.  That was a lie -- just like that 8:00 screening on the web site was a lie.  And it seems like the ticket-taker was prepared to tell that lie (to cover for the fake 8:00 screening that he knew was being advertised on their web site). So I believe this is intentional deception. Regal Jack London advertises fake showtimes on their web site that are a half hour apart, and lies to people who show up for that half-hour-later screening to con them into the theater where the movie has already started. read more

We first parked across the street, with free validation ( up to 3 hours). We felt safe with our cars, since it was a paid parking lot. Once you walk in the front door, there is no one in front or checking tickets. There were 3 workers at the popcorn section, which is also where you buy your movie tickets. We were the only one there, and bought popcorn and drinks with our tickets. They worker were super helpful and patience, since I was having issue with my payment. I was surprised how clean everything was, from the bathroom, theater seatings & the whole theater. Maybe because there weren't a lot of people. We also selected the movie at 6pm on a Monday during a heavy storm. We were assigned to sit behind one person, but she was talking to herself. So we decided to move to the back of the theater. She didn't cause any issue once the movie start, which was great. I would return again, hope it would be more full and more people supporting this theater. read more

I couldn't decide between watching Deadpool & Wolverine or Alien: Romulus this past weekend, so I decided on neither and opted to watch the unique horror/thriller Strange Darling instead, and I have no regrets. With limited release of the film, I ended up at Regal Jack London, a decent movie theater I've been to many times before, my recent experience not much different than in the past decade or so. Pretty basic concessions stand, the only thing that stands out to me is the unique pizza flavors they offer, like buffalo chicken and chicken bacon ranch. It may be a strange thing to notice, but the plastic and paper products here were extremely low quality. Flimsy plastic container for the nachos, almost spilled unless I held it firmly with two hands, thank goodness I didn't have a drink to hold at the same time. And napkins for concessions were super thin and cheap (like single ply toilet paper). Service was pretty slow at the refreshments stand too, but at least staff was friendly and helpful. Seats in the auditorium were outdated (no luxury loungers here), in fact the entire theater was outdated. But at least it was clean enough, and sound and picture quality for the movie were satisfactory. Also, they offer validation for 3 hours of free parking in the waterfront parking garage across the street. This theater's not bad for watching a flick, but with so many better choices out there, you won't find me here often. read more

I went to the 4:35 PM showing of the SpongeBob movie at Regal Jack London. I purchased a movie ticket, popcorn, and an iced tea. While paying, I noticed an additional charge labeled as a "donation," rounding my total up to the nearest dollar. I was not asked if I wanted to donate or told what the donation was for. When I questioned why my total included an extra 53 cents, the cashier (Dana) responded with, "Oh, you don't want to? Huh? You don't want to donate?" in a very dismissive and uncomfortable tone. Let me be very clear: If a business is requesting donations, patrons should be asked first and informed where their money is going. You do not count people's money for them or assume they can or want to donate. That interaction felt rude, presumptive, and completely unprofessional. I am not opposed to donating -- I am opposed to being charged without consent and made to feel awkward for questioning it. The experience was a huge turnoff and took away from what was supposed to be a fun movie outing. Regal seriously needs to retrain staff on basic customer service and transparency. read more

They are understaffed. We often wait in line lol to buy our tickets. I don't buy in advance because there are fees to do that haha. I also often get gift cards and probably easier to just use that at the point of sale. One time we were running late for the movie and Ricardo was really helpful and efficient! We come for a movies sometimes on Sundays or Tuesdays because those are Value Days lol. It's $6.99 each. They have three hour parking validation! If you drive and park at the garage across the street, you can easily get it validated at the machine inside. Lots of restroom stalls. I never have a problem here and I always enjoy my little movie dates lol. Chairs are simple like not the best (not like leather recliners with food trays lol like I've seen at other nicer theaters). Screens are not huge but not tiny haha everything is Goldilocks in quality and size - just right! I went to this theater to see a specific movie. Hadn't been in awhile bc Jack London Square is basically dead. But I wanted to see a specific movie that wasn't playing anywhere else. There were probably 6 people in the theater, but I had a good experience. Validated parking. Screens just like every other theater. The staff was VERY friendly and helpful. Place was clean. Well the ARMED security guard at the entrance kinda makes you rethink entry...but we already had our tickets. The popcorn was not even close to Regal Hacienda in Dublin. The bathrooms were cleaner than Hacienda Dublin (thank you). But maybe that's because it was not crowded. The seats are old but oddly more comfy than the newer red seats at Hacienda. The movie Shazam was a hoot, we enjoyed it. The theater offers free validated parking for 3 hours but apparently the garage doesn't know because it still charged us 1.25 to exit. I've been going to this theater for decades without any problems. On my last 2 visits I've had weird interactions with the cashier Bryan M. He's got the passive/aggressive attitude going on. He pretends to not hear me when I give him order, so he'll stoically ask me to repeat the my order. On this last visit I didn't have my movie card so I slow gave him phone number instead--he repeats back and purposely gets the number wrong. He's dismissive to questions. Why work in a customer service job if that's your thing. read more

I just got out of the theater at Jack London Regal. This is my go to place for my kids and I. Great price on tickets and food on Sundays. Better seating since Covid which I love. The staff is friendly and the theater rooms are cleaner. As for the movie, *Deadpool and Wolverine* exceeded all my expectations. The dynamic between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman is electric, blending humor, action, and a surprisingly heartfelt storyline seamlessly. The special effects were top-notch, and the fight scenes were some of the best I've seen in a superhero film. The blend of Deadpool's irreverent humor with Wolverine's gritty intensity created a unique and entertaining film that kept me engaged from beginning to end. Overall, I highly recommend both the Jack London Regal Theatre and *Deadpool and Wolverine*. The theatre's excellent amenities and the movie's thrilling storyline make for a perfect night out. I have the unlimited movie pass which, if you like seeing movies, it's the perfect plan. It's $21.99 for unlimited movies! That can't be beat right now. Going to the movies twice costs more than the monthly membership. When on the app and purchasing a ticket with the membership there is a $0.50 convenience fee per ticket. When purchasing a ticket to a movie in 3D there is a $3 convenience fee per ticket, which still can't be beat. Before this I was only going to the movies during matinee times because yeeeaaaah. Ain't no way bwoy! Anyway, on to the location. I came in today to watch House Party. I've been coming to this location for the last 8 years. It's convenient, nearby to local bars, the water, restaurants, Ben & Jerry's, BevMo, Souley Vegan, etc. There is a parking garage right across the street that is free for three hours if you validate inside of the movie theatre. Also, the validation machine was down for about a month or so, but it's finally working again. I've read the reviews about people being loud or talking during the movie, kids screaming, etc. I tend to come during the week and during the day and haven't really experienced too much of this. There's the occasional talking, but it's not too bothersome because it tends to be brief. Every time I go inside the lobby is pretty much empty except for the workers. This isn't to disregard anyone else's experience . Lord knows I believe it, but that just hasn't been my experience. Cheers to me continuing to never experience this It's a great location, local for me, and I like that I can see any movie I want for as many times as I want with the membership. All movie lovers should at least check out the unlimited movie membership - there are more Regal theatre locations in the Bay Area, and if you're traveling someplace else you can watch a movie in that town too if they have a Regal Cinema. My kids got back from this theater today, and while they like the movie fine, they reported twenty-five minutes of ads before the movie started. We're trying to get my kids excited about watching films in theaters, but my son came home saying he only wants to watch them at home because they don't have to sit through all of the ads. I can understand if they want to show ads before the movie starts (it's annoying, but fine), but at least list the *actual start time* as the start time. read more

In my experience in 2024, the theater chairs were damaged and messy. The customer service was great when ordering snacks, but there was popcorn all over the floor and the floor needed to be mopped. Also the lady working the ticket booth was very lazy with her legs up on the counter when I was asking her if she needed to scan my tickets because was not paying attention. This place is as standard a movie theater as it goes. It's conveniently located right across from a Jack London Square parking lot with ample spaces. Upon entering, I noticed how open the lobby is. There was one attendant in the front (not behind the ticket counter; he was running a fundraising table in the lobby) there to check our tickets and two behind the concession counter. The service was nice and quick at the counter and there are a few unique popcorn options including Hot Cheetos popcorn. I noticed that there's minimal signage for pricing, which was a little bit of a letdown given that I didn't realize I'd pay around $20 for a large soda and a medium popcorn. The lobby was very empty when we visited, which was surprising to me since we went on a Saturday at 1pm. We saw "The Boy and the Heron" when we went, and the theater was also pretty empty. One thing I wish was a little better about the individual theaters is the seats. They creak a lot so I felt like I was disturbing everyone's moving experience while watching! The movie was Bringing Down the House, starring Steve Martin, Queen Latifah and Eugene Levy. I avoided this theater all these years because people were getting into fights and yelling at each other. In other words, the theater was getting hella ghetto. All that made going to this theater less than enjoyable. Moving forward to today, at first I was reluctant to come back, but I wanted to watch Respect, starring Jennifer Hudson. I see improvement. The movie theater is clean and I did not see drama in the lobby. One can purchase the ticket at the refreshment counter. A screen monitor shows what seats are available. Purchase refreshment and tell the cashier which movie and the seat selection. Finally, since it has been a good while I visited this movie house, I don't know if they still have matinees. If you want to see a movie and not have to fight for a really good seat come here. Ability to buy tickets in advance and choose your seat is awesome. They validate for the parking garage across the street, which is a fantastic amenity. The lobby and theaters are clean. There are tons of concessions; I ordered the corn dog bites and they made them to order and they came out hot and under the time given to deliver them. I also made a mistake in ordering my tickets on line and the staff assisted me in correcting my mistake very competently. The screens are huge and IMAX with great sound and stadium type seating. One of my favorite theaters to visit because it's the ONLY theater I know of that lets you bring outside food. I've smuggled boba, chow mein, and stinky Viet sandwiches, but no one seems to care, especially the cops when they check my backpack for crack and guns. They don't check bags or backpacks for the first showing. They ALWAYS check for evening shows. I guess the troublemakers come out at night. I use to come to this movie theater when I was younger. I decided to bring my boys to see Clifford on a Sunday at 1:30 pm. Im guessing there is no $5 movies anymore adults and children are about $9.40. The outside stand for tickets wasn't open so everyone purchases at the concession stand which kind of sucks. There was only one person taking orders. The food is kind of pricey but it's expected. I ordered a large popcorn $10 and nachos $7. The theater was clean and so was the bathroom which is always nice. I parked across the street in the garage and they do validation inside the theater. Good experience, great service just slow but they do have a now hiring sign. read more

This is a small theater. I believe there's only 6 screens. But don't underestimate they're decent size! The 4 in the back are bigger than the 2 in the front because the bigger screens are where they show new just released movies and as time passes they'll begin to show them in smaller theaters. Sign up for a regal card & download the app! Every time you come to movies, scan it. Anytime you buy food/snacks scan your card. You'll get points and they add up so fast! Not a bad theater. The seats are a lot wider and more comfortable than other theaters. This is the first and only theater that I have been to that searches your bag (which is a little strange), but they don't seem to mind if you have your own food/snacks in your big (which is pretty awesome). I went here recently to catch "Companion" and the movie was great. The auditorium I was in had a nice screen and the seats were comfy (but not as good as AMC's reclining seats). read more

A staple movie theatre for as long as I can remember. Since I live out in Oakland, its convenient to go to due to the parking garage and jack london square being right there. They have 7 or 8 different theaters all together and they usually play the blockbusters (RIP to blockbuster ) They have $5 movies on Sundays which you cant beat when normal prices are like $13.25 a ticket. I just joined the Regal Crown Club where you can get discounts the more you visit. Honestly, it gives me more incentive to watch more movies. read more

I live right in Jack London, so the convenience of this theatre is unbeatable! All in all, a pretty standard Regal theatre. A bit dated and run down and I've never dared to look at the seats when the lights are on but it has the new movies you'll wanna watch for a reasonable price. Come on a Tuesday to take advantage of their $5 tickets, grab a drink and play some games at Plank afterwards and you've got yourself some solid date night plans! There's also an option to validate parking which is nice for those not living in the area. To offset the cost of cheap tickets are the ridiculous prices of popcorn. Someone just attacked me in the theater and the staff sided with the aggressor. They let him stay in the theater and told me to leave. I was there to see a Harry Potter movie and I have proof they were in my seats. His girlfriend/partner seemed very embarrassed. All they had to do was move to their paid seats but they offered to attack me. I live in this area and would never come back. I encourage others to question their safety and I filed a police report with my local police friends to ensure no one else has to deal with being harassed in a theater where their seats where paid for. Seems pretty sad to see a theater go downhill. The man was with his family and I feel so bad and sad for his daughter. I hope she grows up to have an open mind and not cry when her dad is so disrespectful to a massive group of people. read more

I stopped by the Regal at Jack London to check out F9. It was a late showing around 9:30pm on a Friday night. They have a reserved seating system but I didn't see anyone following the assigned seating. It wasn't a big deal for me because I was still able to get a good seat and the theater was pretty empty but an FYI if you are going to a later evening/night show. The cleanliness was okay and the employees were polite. The movie experience was normal and I had no issues with the sound system or the picture quality. The seats were good and the armrests can be raised up. Overall it was what I'd consider a standard movie experience. I would've liked the theater to be a little cleaner but that's the only thing aside from people not following the seating, although that's more of a people thing than an AMC thing. read more

Been going here for years for their cheaper Sunday movie tickets and it's the rowdiest theater I've ever been to. Expect some talkers, potential yellers, and crying babies in your theater. But what keeps me coming back are those $5 Sunday tickets (they've raised them recently to $8 I believe). Regal also has a great rewards program that gets you free tickets and food depending on the points you've earned. This is definitely a higher security theater with a guard always checking your bag before you enter. We always manage to find free parking around and I believe the parking garage across the street comps your parking with proof of a movie tickets purchase. read more

Went to an Yelp Event that gave us access to see an advanced screening of the movie, Respect. Let me say, Jennifer Hudson understood the assignment! The Regal Jack London is in such a prime location as it's in the middle of Jack London square in Oakland. The movie theater is well kept and clean. The staff was very welcoming and helpful as well as wearing masks. We asked for extra butter on our popcorn when ordering at concessions and they didn't disappoint or act stingy. The bathrooms were clean and orderly as well. Sometimes movie theater bathrooms can be a little dirty, but not that one! The seats were comfy all thought the theater is a little bit dated as it doesn't have those innovative recliner seats, it was still an amazing experience and I'll be back again! I visited this theater for the first time to catch the most recent Star Wars film. It's a pretty standard Regal theater with a nice big screen and good sound quality. Seats were not that big but still just roomy enough. It would also be nice if they had reclining seats. They showed kind of a ridiculous amount of ads before the previews started, though I'm not sure if that's the norm or if it was to take advantage of big crowds coming to see Star Wars. On our visit, we had a big moment of confusion because there was a huge line of people (like down the block) queueing up on one side of the entrance. We were initially annoyed because we thought that was the line to get in, but after we resignedly joined the queue someone was nice enough to tell us they were part of a huge group and they were doing a group entrance. We went back to the entrance after and were able to go straight in. No harm done but would have been nice to have a little more guidance to eliminate that initial confusion. One big plus with this location is ease of parking. There's a huge multilevel parking lot right across the street and the theater validates up to 3 hours of free parking. read more

As Oakland residents and avid film watchers, my boyfriend and I were excited to Lyft over to watch Knives Out last night. Great film BUT two things will keep us from coming back... 1: A ridiculous amount of cheesy candy, car insurance, etc. ads AFTER the movie start time! We thought it was a joke, actually. Dozens of stupid ads and guess what...we're paying to watch them! Movie previews and the No Talking messaging important after a start time but please, STOP ALL THE ADS ONCE THE MOVIE STARTS. 2: We bought a large popcorn, Red Vines, and bottle of water and WE BOTH GOT FOOD POISONING. Obviously, it was from the popcorn. I called the Jack London theater, trying to alert them THREE TIMES, so this disgusting thing won't happen to anyone else, but the phone just rang and rang and no answering machine to convey the fact that they are selling popcorn that will make people very ill indeed! Takeaways: AVOID THE POPCORN and ANTICIPATE TOO MANY STUPID COMMERCIALS. Takeaway for AMC: ANSWER your goddamn phone or let people leave a voicemail. How often is it you write a Yelp review of a regal? For me, it has been literally never. But that ends today! The past 2 times I've been to this location the atmosphere has been amazing. Always nearly empty, the employees provide the perfect amount of energy to bring up the vibes. Today, our concessions person was Phillip-- and they were incredibly diligent and even cracked a few jokes with us! When the receipt paper ran out mid printing my receipt, Phillip rushed to refill the dispenser and apologized for the inconvenience! Not only that, Phillip recommended mixing a little cherry into my Pepsi freezee (already my favorite combo but the initiative to pitch a movie goer on a new combo, unparalleled). Additionally! Phillip spoke with my friend and helped her decide what treat she should get for her movie experience (dibs ofc). I will 100% be returning to this location, and while the movie itself was great, it's the employees that really made my experience magical. read more
