Dr Alex Nguyen is a really great dentist and I've been through a lot. From being empathetic to having an awesome staff and really modern systems, his team operates efficiently and you don't have that typical "long wait while there's ten patients ahead of you" experience. I had to get a filling done and was able to get an early appointment and he was quite the perfectionist when I came to forming the tooth to make sure that the bite worked well, so it would not come off again. I like the text message alerts and reminders which makes it easy to handle appointments. What also impress me is that his team operated with surgical precision so everybody helps each other out, even on a traditional regular cleaning. While being there i noticed a couple of things, waiting room area floor was dirty. I got there early and i wasn't taken back until 15 minutes into my appointment. I was polished first and flossed last, which i found the order odd. As im leaving I hear employees talking about how "I have to make sure to do everything right, if not this next patient will have me fired. she told me she got the last person fired" First of all, they should not talk about personal things like that in an environment that. Second if this is true, thats horrible condition to know that anyone can be fired at any moment based off of what a patient says. I've been seeing Dr. Nguyen for a while and have had multiple dental issues. He has always been kind and patient with my questions and concerns, and I appreciate that he was able to address some of my problems. However, my recent experience was disappointing. My appointment, which I had waited a month for, was canceled due to a staff issue. I had a broken tooth that needed to be removed, so this was frustrating. Stacy, who handles scheduling, assured me she would call back with a new appointment as soon as possible. After waiting a week without hearing from her, I followed up. She then informed me that the staff issue had been resolved and that she could now reschedule my appointment--but the earliest available slot was in April. I was surprised by this, as I had expected to be prioritized given my canceled appointment. When I expressed my concern, Stacy said she would check with Dr. Nguyen and get back to me, but she never did. As a business owner, I believe good service includes clear communication and follow-through, and unfortunately, that was lacking in this situation. Ultimately, I decided to switch to a different dentist. I could have just left quietly, but I believe sharing honest feedback helps businesses improve--so here's my experience. read more

Nguyen is a good dental technician - but it ends there. He is a non-responsible employer and will not stand behind the work he assigns to his staff. My experience was with the hygienist who cleaned my teeth. In the end, she said we had extra time and she had a product that would make my teeth "sparkle"--her word. So she applied it. But, since I had a habit of grinding my front teeth when I slept, there was some wear and tear on the top of the bottom front teeth. And there was some dentyne showing. She put on her "sparkle" agent -- and the next morning the bottom front teeth were gone - there were 4 black holes with a square black filament poking upward. The "sparkle" wasn't good for dentine. I went in a panic to Dr. Nguyen's office; he looked at my "teeth" and said it was because I ground my teeth and caused the dentine to be exposed and eaten away. What? Overnight I ground them into oblivion? He laughed, was very cavalier. and refused to do anything about it unless I wanted caps for $20,000 to $25,000. I can understand when grinding your teeth on top, that it can make the enamel thin or cause dentine to be exposed. But, I NEVER HEARD OF GRINDING AROUND THE CIRCUMFERENCE OF FOUR INDIVIDUAL TEETH. This happened in August (July?) of 2021. I read in some research that you have up to 3 years to file a legal claim against dentists for harmful dental work. Since that terrible 2021 experience I have had some enamel growth -- but the "teeth" are small - short with big spaces between them. I asked Alex Nguyen, Dentist, for help; even had him look at the teeth again and he physically abused me by grabbing my head and jaw and forcing the teeth to touch - to prove his point that I turned 4 normal teeth into little stubs. Should I sue or not? That's my question. I'm a senior, retired, with limited resources, and don't know how to find and pay for the expertise I would need. read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Nguyen! I have been a patient of his for about ten years and I have only had positive experiences during that time. He is knowledgeable, meticulous, and thorough at every appointment. Most recently, I called Dr. Nguyen at the end of the day when the office was about to close because the cap on my front tooth fell off and I needed a replacement ASAP. Dr. Nguyen had me come in right away and stayed after hours to fix it that very same day. This kind gesture speaks volumes about the type of person he is as well. This is my first FIVE STAR review! To say I was more than impressed is an understatement. And truth be told, I had some reservations as I am extremely particular when it comes to my health, teeth, and aesthetic appearance. A couple of my co-workers had recommended Dr. Nguyen so I did my research with the Dental Board of California as well as the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (accredited with the AACD and current CA license with no complaints nor legal action against). Having completed the initial exam and xrays, Dr. Nguyen explained in detail the situation surrounding my case in an extensive consultation appointment . He meticulously provided the pros and cons of my options along with his expertise recommendation. Knowing everything up front was reassuring to say the least! After following through with the outlined visits and treatments, my teeth and smile are in love with Dr. Nguyen's skilled hands! He did everything he said he would - no surprises and everything was done to my fastidious expectations! Expertly delivering on the core business nets a solid four star rating for me. Dr. Nguyen is fantastic. Before visiting it had been many years since I had last gone to the dentist. He does great work, while at the same time minimizing the discomfort. He has a high level of competence in the work that he does. He is not a pediatric dentist, but we also ade an appointment for my two daughters, one age 5 and the other age 2, and it worked out excellent. It was my two year old's first visit and I was amazed that she felt comfortable enough to allow him to clean her teeth, because its "like pulling teeth" (no pun intended) to get her to allow us to just brush her teeth every night. I've been fortunate to have Dr.Alex as an implant specialist/general dentist. Not only did he adjusted my biting structure but also replaced two of my front veneers. If you need a night guard, I highly recommend you get it here because it's very unique and it comes with top and bottom fittings. He is very meticulous and take his time executing his techniques. Yelp does it again! I have to say that I love this site. However they block most of my darn reviews!!! So make sure you look at all reviews because some of them are real - there is a filtered link at the bottom of the reviews for the business you are researching. Alex was able to get me in the same day and fix my veneer in record time. It looks and feels great and (fingers crossed) has not fallen off. He spent a good amount of time giving details to how my mouth and teeth work (bite, grinding, structure, etc). This was educational and interesting to hear. Personally, this does make him a different kind of dentist and one of the most informative I have encountered over the years. However, I already trusted him based on his reviews and knew my teeth were not perfect (this is why my tooth had a veneer in the first place - grinding complications). If you look at my reviews, I was haunted by a bad dentist and needed someone with expertise in veneers. Repairing teeth not only takes technical skill but an artistic sense as well. I have to say that Alex's awards and reviews prove his ability to handle the task of fixing teeth. You need a meticulous artist to fix teeth; you simply need a dentist to fill cavities. Just make sure you trust them. I have had the same veneer replaced 5 times with little luck. So I know what it takes to set and glue the veneer. Alex was not only able to set it on the first try but did not need to grind or polish the bonding material much. This is impressive as I have spent hours under the blue heat gun and polishing tool. I am pleased with the feel of the tooth and trust me the bonding agent used on the back can be the biggest annoyance (to the inside of your mouth) if not smooth and even. Great job! Full disclosure: I worked at Dr. Nguyen's office many moons ago. I've been a patient ever since. I finally decided to write a review because he recently saved a tooth. Trust me, he's done much, much more to my formerly sad chompers, but this one was above and beyond. I'll start by saying that Dr. Alex is a perfectionist in everything he does. He's always sharply dressed, every hair perfectly in place. His office feels like a swanky zen meditation studio. Aroma therapy. Bamboo floors. Tranquil colors. Calming music. Ahhhhhh. This drive for perfection is obvious in his work, too. Having formerly worked there, I have seen countless cosmetic patients' "before" and "after" looks. He's a magician. He fits the cosmetic work (veneers, etc.) so perfectly to the patient, taking the person's every facial feature into account to build the perfect smile. Most recently, I saw him when I chipped my front tooth. He patched it up so perfectly, and so quickly, that even I couldn't see it! I'll never trust my teeth to another dentist. Dr. Alex is an awesome dentist! He treats his patients with a very high level of respect and is always very friendly/conversational. He does the cleanings himself, is very gentle and is concerned about patient comfort. Had a filling today and it was completely pain-free. Dr. Alex was very concerned about my comfort level, was very accommodating...agreeing to go a bit beyond schedule to complete the work even though I only had a cleaning scheduled. He also made absolutely certain that I was satisfied with the work before I left the office. He also is always a very good listener when it comes to concerns regarding dental procedures. I hate the idea of going to the dentist but this office makes everything a breeze! I've been nomadic for the past 10 years but always make a point to schedule my teeth cleanings the few times a year I'm back in the area. This is not a place where you walk into a room with 5 people waiting before you. Stacy is awesome and makes you feel at home upon entry even though you barely know her. The office is spotless, smells great, and has calm music playing. Dr. Nguyen is detail-oriented and extremely thorough in all of his processes. He'll answer any questions you have and offers oral hygiene tips in a way you'll understand. As with any healthcare professional, I respect his time with other patients and expect his full attention when it's my turn. I've never been disappointed in that regard over the years; his focus is evident when working on your teeth. He also tries to get to know you and remembers little tidbits from your previous visits (he's also foodie!). He's done some veneers or crowns on my mom, and you'd never know because they blend in flawlessly. I've been going to Dr. Alex since I was a kid and he's pulled everything from my baby teeth to adult teeth, and even replacing broken ones! He used to be located in Southside San Jose before moving his office to Saratoga, and although it's a further drive and it's out of the way, it's very much worth it. The atmosphere here isn't like your typical Dentist, it's very Zen like, and you feel like you're meditating outside in a Japanese Garden with the peaceful music, and decorations. In 2006, I slipped and fell on my face and fell right on my mouth causing me to break more than 3/5 of my front tooth. My life honestly flash before my eyes that day thinking that I would have to go through the rest of my life looking worse than Jim Carey's character in Dumb and Dumber. Dr. Alex created a crown for me that looked almost identical to how my tooth was before and today you would never know that I have a crown in my smile. He's honestly one of the best out there if he could pull that miracle off, so I'm really glad that he's my dentist. Thank you! read more

I have been coming to Dr. Alex Nguyen and his wife Dr. Thuy-Anh Nguyen for as long as I can remember. They used to have an office in San Jose, but moved to Saratoga about 5 years ago? In any case, I've probably been seeing them for over 10 years! Their Saratoga office is very nice with massage chair, tea, you name it! Their staff is also very friendly and accommodating. When I visit their office, I usually see Dr. Alex Nguyen and he always does a thorough cleaning. I'm always a bit embarrassed since I know my teeth are full of plaque. Dr. Alex Nguyen is an award winning dentist. Right when you walk in, you will notice that this isn't your typical dental office. This place looks more like an upscale spa with an Asian theme. The office is fitted with the latest dentistry equipment. Your teeth is displayed on an LCD monitor, and the dental chairs have built-in massagers - even the waiting room in the back of the office has a massage chair. Each room is equipped with a Nakamichi stereo to calm any nerves that you might have. I have made numerous trips in the past few years and everything was perfect and painless. He's always on schedule, so there is virtually no waiting period. He does a thorough job and doesn't try to rush you out. His wife will occasionally work on his patients. The staff is very friendly. Dr. Alex Nguyen has been my dentist for the past three years. He was recommended to me when I wanted to use Invisalign braces to straighten my teeth. I have been very pleased with the results of my Invisalign; my teeth are now straight for the first time in my life and the experience was much more pleasant that I had imagined it would be or than traditional braces would have been. Dr. Nguyen has also done a couple of crowns for me as well. I was very happy to find that he was so careful when giving me novocaine shots prior to doing that work. He does the cleanings himself and is always very gentle. I haven't had a cavity in years and it's a nice feeling. This review is long over due, About 10 years ago Dr Nguyen persuaded me that I needed almost every tooth in my mouth veneered. I had completely healthy teeth with 2 crowns on my top front teeth that needed to be fixed because you could see where the metal was at the gum line. My 2 bottom front teeth were chipped and veneer's seemed like the logical choice. I have no idea what I was thinking , going to him was one of the biggest mistakes of my life , I was duped . Dr Nguyen proceeded to veneer every tooth in my mouth up to my molars because he said that when I smiled you would see those teeth , he wanted to create a even smile , I trusted him with my teeth , what a devastating decision . My teeth are totally compromised now , within the first year of having my new teeth the 2 top front teeth broke because I have a pretty deep overbite , when I went to get them repaired he blamed the lab , telling me that the porcelain was not made right by the technician , I believed Dr Nguyen. I moved to Washington State a few years ago and the front teeth completely broke off to the point that if they break again I will probably have to get implants , I went to another dentist who fixed my front teeth and fixed them in a way that they don't bang my bottom teeth and break , my jaw feels better because by bite was off because of the way Dr Nguyen positioned my front teeth. I have had problem after problem with my veneers and I could cry because no one can see to my molars , Any competent Dentist would put Patient and tooth health over profit , except for my 2 front teeth and my bottom 2 front teeth my other teeth that he did were healthy functional teeth that were not compromised at all he betrayed my trust and made a lot of money doing it , over $20,000 to be exact. He also did gum contouring in the front , that was another mistake because has you age your gums recede and you can see my real tooth under the veneers it looks awful. Since my veneers I have had 4 root canals, pain and undue expense to fix these compromised teeth, I have lost my trust in Dentists. When I had my front teeth redone , I asked the Dentist about this ,He is a old time Dentist who is conservative . He told me that the best thing is to leave the teeth alone because once the damage is done you cannot fix it , nothing beats your real tooth. I cannot stress enough to run from this unethical money grabber of a Dentist, do your research and always get a second opinion. read more

I've been going to see Dr. Alex Nguyen and his wife since I was in grade school and their office was located near Senter Rd in San Jose. Now I'm nearing 30 so you can say we've had quite a history. Dr Alex Nguyen is the best there is. He is an absolute professional and does the best work. I've had my wisdom teeth plus 4 other teeth removed for braces and never once did I leave traumatized. His wife was my favorite growing up however I believe she devotes her time to their kids now. She is a sweetie and always remembered to asked little bits of my life every time I saw her. Once in a while my family tests out other dentists closer to where we live since driving from North San Jose to Saratoga is a bit of a drive. However none has ever compared to Dr Nguyen. My whole family have been seeing Dr. Alex Nguyen twice a year for over a decade. We started seeing him when he was first starting out at the old location in San Jose. He is an amazing person and dentist. He makes recommendations that are good for the patient (not for his own pocket book) and I trust his advice fully. Even when he has to refer us out to orthodontists or oral surgeons, he does his research well before recommending someone. He always try to fit me in or work around my schedule (since I go to school in SoCal and come back periodically for the check ups). He even went out of his way to call in prescriptions to SoCal pharmacies during a dental emergency. He does all the cleanings himself! His office is the epitome of tranquility and elegance..which certainly helps make a visit to the dentist easier. The staff members have been there for as long as I can remember. I had heard about Dr. Alex from from friends. They mentioned that he is one the top dentists around. In fact, they said he used to commute to Beverly Hills to work on Hollywood types and his abilities for cosmetic dentistry are among the best in the US. I was interested, but this sounded too good. Finally I made an appointment. The office is so calm, Zen and light. I knew I was in someplace special. Dr. Alex only takes one patient per appointment. There was no one else in the waiting room, just the person ahead of me, who in the chair. My turn came, and I went back. Dr. Alex sees every patient and even does all the work including all cleanings. His attention to detail is mind boggling great. He is a master dentest, a craftman as it were. After examining me he asked me if I ground my teeth. I replied I did not. He then proceeded to show me that I did even though I did not realize it. I thought I had 4-6 cavities. Instead, I had a weakening of the gums due to my subconscious grinding. This was causing severe pain in 3 areas of my mouth. No other dentist had ever diagnosed this. They just kept telling me I was prone to receding gums. I was stunned. Since then I have made an effort to stop grinding and my pain in lessening. He treats the root cause and not symptoms. He is beyond thorough and he takes the time to explain in simple beautiful detail. Dr. Alex's manner is simple, calm, and fantastic. What is more amazing is that he is one of the top cometic and mouth reconstruction dentists bar none. I cannot recommend him enough. I have been a very long time customer since I was a little kid. I was a bit overdue for a dental cleaning and went to a different dentist. It looks like old habits die hard and I have a history with these doctors. I don't think I would go to any other dentist because you get good treatment here and these are local doctors that know what they are doing. I was referred to Dr Nguyen by friends and family. This is by far the best experience I've ever had with a dentist. His staff is extremely professional and his own professionalism exudes both knowledge and trust. He is honest, gentle and passionate about you and your dental health. He is also vigilant about preventive care and will let you know that you "need to floss more" =). I've been lucky as I've moved around the US where I've had good luck picking good dentists. Dr Nguyen, and his staff, are the best I've seen. I've had to have a number of 30-40 year old fillings replaced. Over several visits, I have yet to experience much pain or discomfort. He is great at explaining what needs to be done. The office is like a spa--very relaxing atmosphere. The receptionist, Stacy, is highly organized and manages the insurance and billings without any issues. My wife and 2 young daughters have had similar experiences. Once downside is that they are very busy and generally need to schedule non-urgent treatment well out into the future. They are great about working patients in for more urgent issues where tooth pain is involved. read more
