I think that he charged extra for rush (which honestly, I waited til the week before the wedding, so I probably deserved that). Alex is really one of the best tailors I've been to. He's super cheap, is always available, and if you're really pushed for time, he can do the alterations quickly. He works longer hours and is available on the weekends, so you can always find time to pick up your stuff. He does dry cleaning for really cheap as well! Just a couple bucks at most! read more

Amazing tailor. Small humble place, but he does an awesome job. Has done several suit alterations and repairs for me, and I can't speak more highly of his work. Also cleans dress shirts for dirt cheap. Will really go out of his way to please his customers. I ran into him in a pizza shop at 10 at night one night down the street and he offered to let me come pick up my dry cleaning. Highly recommend. read more

I will say that his prices are good for the request. However my experience here was horrible. I dropped my dress off a month before I needed it done. I gave him a date to which he had no issue with. When the time came to pick it up, he hadn't even started. This was extremely disappointing as I was getting on a flight the next day. I told him I needed it done by the end of the day and it couldn't be late, he ended up giving me a lot of attitude and wasn't a bit apologetic. After telling him several times I needed it he told me he'd get it done and drop it off at my apartment down the street. When he dropped it off and I tried it on, there were black marker stains all on the bottom. He ended up taking it back the day I had my flight and cleaning it to the best he could and it came out okay and most of the marks were cleaned off. But I would never suggest anyone to go to this tailor as the whole experience was just a lot of poor attitude on his end and a stained dress. read more

Alex is truly the quintessential tailor - small shop tucked away in an older building, walls and counters overflowing with clothes and fabrics and thread of all colors. I've come to Alex for a few months now and with each item he magically gets to fit me I bring him more and more. He is a hardworking and honest guy who spends more than half the day at his shop (even bringing clothes back to his home) and cares all about his customers being happy rather than high prices. Do not go to Alex the Tailor. First of all, his store is a mess. Your clothes will come back wrinkled. I recently brought him 5 items to have altered. We agreed on a date and time for me to pick them up. He did not have them ready and I had to come back another day. He did give me a discount which was a nice gesture for the inconvenience. When I finally got my clothes back, my dresses were terribly wrinkled (though he says he steamed them) and he messed up the sewing job on an item that is now not wearable. When I called to discuss my disappointment, he was argumentative and hung up on me. A friend of mine had a bridesmaid dress altered which came back with a stain on it. Take your business elsewhere. read more

He took the time to talk with me about different options and showed me what it would look like at a couple different lengths. I had these thigh high boots that were too small. So I asked to get an extra piece added on to the back. The price was moderate. I eventually came back 4 times to get an accurate fit. Finally after the last fitting the boots were perfect. Alex was extremely nice especially after I came back the 4th time any other person would have told me to kick rocks. Hidden Gem! Alex does great work at a reasonable price. He listens to your needs and delivers a good finished product. Shop is cluttered with clothes, but you don't have to spend much time in there. Look for Alex's sewing machine light...if it's on, he's open. read more

I am 5' tall and sometimes even my petite/short size pants can be too long. I saw the reviews on yelp. I only needed a quick hem to 5 pairs of pants. Alex is friendly and honest. He had 2 pairs ready for me within 24hrs and asked me for 2 business days for the others. The $8 for a hem and they look perfect. Women's pants seem to run so different, it's nice to know I can grab my size and have Alex to work his magic. Cash or debit. Super convenient. Parking in Brighton sucks, but I park at the 7/11 across the street and run in. read more

Alex is great because he's so reasonably priced. I've gone to him a number of times for some patch work - easy things. Then I asked for a replacement zipper on an expensive dress and was very disappointed with the quality of the work. I brought the dress to another tailor to fix it.
