If you want clean repairs for jeans, DO NOT go here. I had to take my jeans back because they sewed giant brown zigzags on the outside of the jeans the first time. The second time, they tried again but didn't actually finish the edges and this ran me about $35. The repair required re-sewing the back pocket on and they used a completely different stitch color. Their customer service was nice, but they seem to not really put any effort into their craft. If you want nice repairs, you're better off doing it yourself or asking your grandma. read more

I took my mothers wedding dress here to be altered to wear to part of my wedding celebration. The dress started out too large. It is now too small, almost impossible to zip up and when I was on the verge of tears the seamstress simply showed me that she could reach in and pull it up hard to get it on my body. Maria is very kind but only speaks Spanish. All of my alterations were done via frantic pantomime which didn't give me comfort/confidence. To top it all off, my bill was $500 after the staff initially estimated ~$100-200. I feel my mother's wedding dress has been ruined and I wish I had trusted my gut and never given them my dress. read more

Choices are also very old feeling, nothing young/modern. Hovering staff runs the gamut from helpful to outwardly mean, so kind of a gamble. I have been going to him for over 20 years and I am very particular about how my suits and clothes fit. once I found him I have followed him from back bay to central square to mass ave at keezers. Dick has an impeccable eye and the lines are always right. He can make a vintage or off the rack suit look bespoke, perfectly taper a too-wide pant, custom-fit a shirt. When I get a compliment about a suit I am wearing I tell people it's not the suit it's the tailor. He really can do anything. And for the quality his price is very reasonable. read more

Disappointed. Went shorten a pair of jeans with ruffles edge. For a simple work as cutting 2 inch of fiber then sew back the ruffle here's the result. I couldn't imagine how a sewing machine do such a bad job at keeping a straight line. My own hand sewing would look better than this and won't take a week. I feel bad leave a negative review but things happen for a reason. I'm glad I didn't test with a more complicated request and my black pant won't reveal too much. A little pricey but still very good. I bought a cheat maxi dress at forever 21, but I'm not a maxi dress type of girl. In fact, I'm kind of short so I was standing on the hem when I was in my heels. So I brought my dress into the Le Couturier House of Alterations to be altered. While I was going to get it hemmed I had him make it into a fishtail type dress. I came in, tried it on and he marked where it should be cut and told me to come back in a week. Honestly with the weather becoming nicer and nicer and the excitement of my dress coming back to me one of a kind, I almost couldn't stand it. So exactly a week later I called to pick up my dress. But it wasn't ready yet. The next day I picked it up and it was perfect. It's shorter but not nearly as short as I wanted it, but this way I can wear it to work still. I put a picture up in the pictures for the Yelp page if you want to see how it was really done. But the hemming is done really well and you'd probably never know that I altered it. The entire thing came out to 30$ ont top of the 10$ I paid for it, so it was so nice. read more

Mr. Robasson I love this place. They altered my WEDDING DRESS from a size 8 to a size 2. Mr. Robasson is so amazing. He is so nice and down to business. No bullcrap or waisting my time. Each appointment I was in and out in 30 minutes or less. I felt so comfortable while being there, and he was very confident, there was no doubt in my mind that he knew what he was doing. I should also mention that most wedding dress alterations take over 4 months !!! I needed my wedding dress in less than 2 months, and they for sure delivered ! I will never go anywhere else to get something altered. My wedding dress was absolutely beautiful. I also got my mothers dress altered, and she looked amazing. I highly recommend this place. I had a great experience here. I had a floor-length gown that I wanted taken up by about 6 inches since it was too long for me. I visited 3 or 4 other tailor shops in Harvard and Central Square and received quotes ranging from $45-$60. Le Couturier quoted me only $40, so I decided to give them a try. They were efficient and professional, and I received my gown back with the hem at exactly the right length. Their prices seem to be the most reasonable compared to all of the other tailor services around the area. I took off one star because I was told on the day I visited that the alterations would take 7-10 days, and that I would receive a call when they were done. I never received a call and ended up calling myself after 2 weeks, at which point I was told the dress was ready to be picked up. I will definitely use them again if I need anything else altered! read more

I am a long time customer of Keezers going back to the 80s so I was thrilled to see that a location has opened in my Porter Square neighborhood. I recently had alterations done to a dress for a wedding and I sent my son and his friend there to find clothing and have alterations done for the same weddings. Yesterday my son went to pick up his jacket and to purchase a shirt. While he was shopping an older man with glasses and a beard was helping some customers and talking loudly about "trannies". This word is a slur for transgender people and is as offensive as using the N word. My son let the man know the correct, inoffensive word for what he was talking about, to which the man replied that he didn't care. My son then told him that he is a transgender person and that he found his language offensive. The man repeated that he didn't care. If this man is an employee he should be fired immediately for this behavior as a representative of the business. If this person is the new owner, SHAME ON YOU! I will never shop in Keezers again and I will let all of my neighbors and friends know not to shop there. I will also post reviews describing the disgusting treatment of my son in this store. This is completely unacceptable and I will do everything in my power to make it clear this behavior won't be tolerated. read more

I've tried more tailors in the Boston area than 99% of the population and I must say that there's a reason that Dick Robasson is the only tailor who gets my business -- and that's because his work has stood head and shoulders above every other tailor I've tried in/around this city. He's turned shapeless sacks from thrift stores into perfectly fitted garments for me and when I need something expensive tailored, there's no one else I trust to handle it. Furthermore, he's one of the few tailors who can alter leather. Best yet, his prices for leather alterations are INCREDIBLY affordable compared to the standard for such a specialty skill. I have used Keaser's/Le Couturier dozens of times for dress alterations, jeans hemming and jacket alterations. Some of the pieces they've altered were quite complicated and they have always done a stellar job! I've never had to bring anything back. The staff is attentive, very professional and innovative. Several times I've thought that a particular seam needed to be taken in, and the man who was helping me showed me a better way to make the garment fit correctly. I rely on them for all my alteration needs. They are fantastic. For alteration jobs, I recommend going on weekdays, early in the day if possible when they are (usually) less busy. Allow plenty of time for your alterations to be completed. read more

Quick, attentive service - they shortened my wedding gown by over 6 inches, and used the material from that to add a simple sash. There was a miscommunication about the bow I wanted on the sash, but I'll take the blame there for being too vague. They made it right, and I ended up with a dreamy wedding gown! I forgot to ask for a bustle to be added, which was a problem during the dancing. I didn't have much of a train, just a few inches, but it would have been nice if they'd thought of that for me. I ended up borrowing safety pins from my photographer and having an ugly bunched bustle, but we made it work :) read more

From the reviews, it seemed like the prices were going to be reasonable, however, I think $45 dollars for a straight hem of a dress was a bit on the expensive side. I brought my wedding dress to be altered at Le Couturier House of Alterations. Richard provided excellent service along with the seamstress who does all of the wedding alterations, Maria. They were able to hem my dress, take it in on the sides, and add a three-point bustle in under three weeks and for a very reasonable price. This place has the worst customer service I've ever received. I was asking the tailor for alteration service of two pants within a day and he goes that's $10 extra because you want it within a day. I tried to negotiate if he can go lower, and he threw my clothes away and say if you don't like the price here are your clothes. Besides that the place is a heap of second-hand clothes everywhere. Please save your time and money by going to another tailor, that's what I did. Stay away and don't get duped by the "French name" and the shop being in the best area of Cambridge. Terrible terrible experience and unprofessional, I've made the biggest mistake by stopping by this shop. read more

My favorite tailor in Boston/Cambridge! I've brought all types of garments to Le Couturier to be repaired or altered, from work basics to party dresses, and been very happy with the outcomes for all, but I'd like to highlight three cases that I was particularly impressed with, and which really won my loyalty: 1) A vintage 1950's cocktail dress with a severely damaged side zipper area. The Le Couturier staff were able to take enough excess fabric out of the hem of the dress to construct completely new side panels for the dress. The panels are so well-constructed that they look as if they were meant to be part of the dress in the first place. I'm incredibly grateful to Dick and his staff for making this beautiful, historical garment wearable again. 2) A vintage wool skirt that I wanted a basic zipper repair on. The staff noticed that there was also a small moth hole in it, repaired it neatly, and didn't charge me extra. 3) My wedding dress! I didn't need major alterations, just a shortened hem and slight taking-in for the bodice, but still, it's hard not to feel extra-grateful for reliable, high-quality work on one's wedding dress. Completely 100% satisfied customer. Amazed at the quality of work. I almost never review anything (bad yelper) but this demanded one. A lot of people have commented on getting jeans hemmed, but I needed two pairs of jeans taken in almost two full sizes (they fit perfectly in the thighs, but I have a small waist). He completed the work flawlessly, they fit perfectly, and best of all, it doesn't look like anything has been done to the pants. They look unaltered. I paid cash. It was $20 a pair which, for me, is completely worth it. The jeans I brought in were on the expensive side, so this was a fraction of their purchase price and now they fit as if they were made for me. Can't really put a price on feeling fabulous in a perfect pair of jeans, y'know. They were ready in slightly over a week with a Monday holiday squeezed in there. Side note: He also found my turquoise ring (which had slipped off in the dressing room), remembered I had been wearing it, and thoughtfully safety-pinned it around the belt loop of my jeans so that it was there when I picked them up. Summary: this man is incredibly talented and this place should have more stars than it has. read more

The work here is excellent and reasonably priced. I had him tailor my strapless wedding dress. It needed to be taken in the bust (for fear of it falling off) and hemmed (too long), and he did a fantastic job. It was invisible where he took it in, and the hemming was perfect, with no trailing threads (so many places are not careful about hemming the bottom of anything, thinking you're not going to see it). He cares a lot and does things precisely. He also put in hooks in the back to hold my bra strap down. I didn't even ask for that, and it was so helpful! I was just really impressed by the perfect fit (wasn't scared of my dress falling down at all!) and clean job. Be sure to bring whatever you plan on wearing under what you want tailored. He wants to do a good job, but he can't do that if you show up in the wrong shoes. He actually had me come back because brought the wrong shoes/bra. He was also less expensive than other places I've gone to, and for the quality, so much better. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place. Monday evening, I burst through the door to Le Couturier, breathless and moist after an extra long day at work. The owner, Dick, already knew my situation, as I had called earlier: my favorite jeans had torn in the crotch before a trip, and I needed to find someone to patch them in before my departure in 32 hours. He was backed up, but he said he could do it. Since he was so nice on the phone, I decided to bring another pair of pants that desperately needed hemming. I emphasized that the hemming was not an emergency, and not to feel rushed on those. I could pick them up in a week or two. Whatever. Tuesday night, once again, I burst through the door of his second floor store, even more frazzled than the previous evening. I fumbled to find my ticket, which predictably, I had lost. But no need. He recognized me right away and plucked out my jeans (which were awesomely patched) AND the no-rush pants! Bill & Ted would say that his customer service was "most excellent." (Party on). I very gratefully paid him a reasonable $30 for his wonderful and timely work that saved the day. read more

I was looking for a top tailor to fit my $2,800 Zegna suit (mind you - Filene's Basement didn't make me pay this much) - so why not go to the 2008 Best of Boston Winner? Dick Robasson, former Zegna staffer on Newbury, wasn't there for the initial fitting, but his associate was clearly good and knowledgeable. The suit was ready in a few short days and the fit was great. I got a chance to meet Dick - he seemed like a great, skilled, and honest guy. This establishment treated me and my garment with respect. Give the man (Dick Robasson) a gold medal. I came with a "bespoke" Indochino suit a week ago that I intended to wear to my wedding. This was my second Indochino suit, and, bless their hearts, the tailors in Shanghai had yet again come up short. Literally. The jacket sleeve barely came up to the bottom of the cuff on my dress shirt. Dick was perfectly comforting and steady while he marked up the suit for alterations. He set expectations by warning me that if we extended the sleeves the buttons would probably look a little off. A week later, I came back, and the suit fit like a glove. It's clear Dick takes his worth seriously and executes with pride. He found a gray fabric that matched the suit to sew into the inside lining of my comically short sleeve, so that, even though no else but me could see it, the lining would still look legitimate. And after I'd tried on the altered suit, Dick took care to re-iron the whole thing before bagging it so that the suit would be crisp and ready for the big day. Thank you, Dick, for saving my wedding suit. This may be the last time I order a suit from the needle-wielding monkeys at Indochino, but it won't be the last time I visit Dick at Le Couturier. read more

There's not a lot of space, but all interactions have been very professional. I got a dress hemmed ($25), and it looks great. A really good tailor with excellence prices and a great tailor and a great location. I live in Cambridge but used to go all the way down to Newbury Tailors for suit alterations. No longer - this guy is just as good. He's polite, has a good eye, does great mending and jean repair as well. He's busy - you don't have to wait, but it can take 8 business days to get the alterations back. But he estimates accurately and it all works well. Highly recommended for men's ware (can't speak to women's ware alterations though I assume he's all around excellent.) read more

I bought a maxi dress from Forever21 that was entirely too long and after seeing the amazing work Dick did on hemming my boyfriend's pants and sleeves on his suit jacket for a wedding, I thought I'd give this place a try for myself. Boy am I glad I came here! Dick and the rest of the staff are very kind and the work done on my dress was absolutely flawless. You could barely tell that I had gotten it hemmed! After encountering Dick Robasson once, and feeling his knowing and seasoned hands fit a suit on me, I knew that I'd found a tailor that I would be loyal to. He's made my suits, neither of which cost more than $300, fit as if they'd been tailor made. He's also extremely accommodating, and will make sure that you walk out there a happy customer. One thing to note is that you normally have to wait 10 days to get your clothes back, so I wouldn't recommend this for anything that you need soon. read more

My wedding dress had three layers (two fabric and one lace from BHLDN) )was at least a size too big and he made it look absolutely stunning. I know this is 2018 in Boston and I shouldn't have to say this but just for the record I'm a very femme-y lesbian and I came to all of my fittings with my (very masculine) now-wife and he didn't bat an eye, he was so respectful and kind to us.
