The clean up was excellent and I can now see the sky because of the great job that they did pruning back the tree. However, when we had out lawn done, he did not clean our gutters (which was part of the service and paid for), and they also spread weed and feed directly over the grass seed after we specifically told them not to. When we called to ask them to come back and do the gutters they refused, saying it was not part of the agreement. I had several Trees of Heaven, a bunch of small volunteer privets, a tall stalk on a century plant, and a lot of ivy to remove , and a fruitless mulberry that needed to have some limbs cut away from the roof. Of four bidders, he was the only tree professional who climbed up on the garage roof to thoroughly assess the work. He quoted me four guys for two days' work. On the first day, the crew arrived at 9:30, took an hour for lunch, and stopped work at 3:30. I noticed that one of the crew appeared to be a young teenager. Alex confirmed that the boy is 14. It's perfectly legal for him to be doing this work (carrying debris, and feeding it into the chipper, on the ground) when school's out. But a 14-year-old doesn't have the strength, experience or stamina of a grown man. I raised that concern with Alex. The following day they couldn't come out because the climber and a family member were both very ill. Perfectly reasonable! The next day the new climber arrived a bit before 9am, and got right to work. Alex, another adult and the 14-year-old arrived shortly thereafter. They worked for about three hours, took an hour for lunch, and at 1:30 Alex said he had to leave for a 2:30 appointment, and that his guys would finish up. They left around 2:30. So, about a day's worth of work spread over two days. Three of the trees that I expected to be removed were cut back. They did a great job of removing the trees that they did actually remove, did a terrific job on the ivy, the cactus stalk, and the mulberry branches, and very kindly blew debris off of my house roof. Alex is a super-sweet man, and his crew were all very polite. His climbers are extremely professional, and work very, very safely. There is more work that needs to be done at my house, and I would certainly consider hiring him and his crew again during the fall, when the 14-year-old is back in school. read more
