I was referred to Alexander Fence Pros by a friend and when I called, Dillion (the owner) came out, was on time for the walk around, listened to what I wanted, answered any questions I had. Even though he was just slightly higher (maybe by $120) his start time was half of the next closest bid. They showed up on the start date and were finished within a reasonable amount of time. Giving 2 starts because Alexander's made the efforts to fix a walkway gate off the side of my garage as well as a double access road gate on the same side, but ultimately their attention to detail failed after those several attempts. To this day the access road gate still sags and is difficult to open and close. A few years ago they came and built some VERY expensive simple walkway gates and an access road gate. The first thing I said is I need them to be pool code because we were saving to build a pool. The walkway gates were in the area of $900. Time after time the walkway gate would not close on its own and, in my opinion was poorly built. I do appreciate them coming to try and fix them but ultimately could not. I've had to cut some pieces to get the lock to have enough space it would close. I would not recommend them as they could solve a simple gate not closing. read more

Dillon was great at communicating and suggesting how to best install a wrought iron fence in South Lake Tahoe, and was able to do it quickly before the October 15 digging deadline in Tahoe. Really not happy with the quality of workmanship on my Alexander Fence. Dillon sent two young men to install the fence. The Crew Chief that came by to re-measure everything, who said he was going to be here, was not. Most of the panels are sloppily installed. I told the guys to center the panels between to upright posts. They did on two sections, then went back to the lazy way of installing. The photo shows what I mean. Two inches of space from the post to first upright on one side, and then 5" to 6" on the other side. This is NOT a $7,000.00 fence. WhenI asked to have the 24' gate motorized, Dillon quoted me an additional $6,500!!! He never returned several phone calls and texts either. He and his main crew were working on a BIG job. That made me feel like he didn't even want to bother with my job. I am NOT happy with the our fence. I could never recommend this man or his company. Alexander Fence Pros installed our fence for our pool. It was a wrought iron fence. They're a very courteous company. We got different quotes from other companies and he was the most reasonably priced. Quality and craftsmanship was definitely great. However, we did not pass inspection with the fence. We requested 2 entry gates into the pool. The one that failed inspection was due to lack of hardscape needed under the gate. Gravel does not account for hardscape since a pet or child can dig through. We were not made aware that this would be an issue during this process. This is something any contractor should address when installing a fence for a pool for those that are not aware. We would've added concrete to this entry if we had known it would've been a problem. read more

This is a long review. However, seeing as I'm only giving one star, I feel as though a should justify such a mark. We, originally had scheduled the crew to come out and start work on a Tuesday. However, that morning, I received an email from Dillon saying that the vinyl posts for my job had not yet been delivered, and the posts will come in the next day on Wednesday. Thus pushing the start day to Thursday . When the crew did arrive on Thursday one of the crew members suffered migraine in the beginning of the day, and unfortunately, he was the"Journeyman," the crew member with the most experience. The other crew member was very nice, but he was inexperienced in vinyl fencing. He told me he has been doing fences for a month. Needless to say, not much of the job was completed that day. I called Dillion that day to establish a plan. The next day I received an email saying that it would not be able to get done on Friday. I was told that it might get done on the Saturday, but since the Monday was a holiday, they could probably get started again that Tuesday. No one showed up on Saturday, so I figured they would be coming Tuesday. The new crew was there early Tuesday morning. They finished everything Wednesday morning. However, after looking over the fence, we noticed the several of the posts were not level. It was quite egregious. Apparently, he was an expert in metal fences not vinyl fencing. Actually this was the first time he installed a vinyl fence on the job. I called Dillion that late afternoon, voicemail, and sent him an email along with pictures of the fence. I ended up calling the next afternoon after receiving no correspondence up until that point. Dillion did answer this time and told me that he could tell the fence posts were not "plum." Also, working with vinyl is difficult, but they would be able to come on Saturday to fix it. So another crew did make it out on Saturday and fixed most of the posts using jackhammers and more concrete. I am hoping the integrity of the posts are not severely compromised, and there was one post still off. Dillion emailed me right after they finished to ask for payment. I responded back to tell him that one post is still off. He said no problem and that he will let me know when he'll send someone out to fix the post. The post has yet to be fixed. I also have to mention, about a half a bag of concrete spilled on my lawn, and it was left there after the job. Not a huge deal, but it was just another thing. I am very disappointed to say the least. I wanted to support a local company, and really hoping to give 5 stars. However, I paid for my fence to be professionally completed. Let me start off by saying I'm not one to complain about someone's work...until now. About 6 months ago we used Alexander Fence Pros to install a new wood fence around our entire yard. My husband had to work so I walked the fence line with Chris and explained exactly what we wanted. From the very beginning of the install I knew I would regret picking them. On the first install day my neighbor had some questions and made the guys stop working early that morning. Instead of calling me they packed up and left- leaving me with no fence going into the 4th of July holiday. Once we cleared things up work restarted and there were several mistakes made. They didn't install the kick boards like we requested. Our property is not level with the neighbors and back line that connects to an open field. We requested the kick boards to prevent dirt from washing away and holes forming. The next morning after install my chihuahua was able to escape the yard because the gaps were so large! Our side gate was also a headache. They originally told us they could use the existing post to hang the large metal gate. They installed the gate and cracked the post- then hid it from us. They also didn't weld the gate to the correct dimensions so they cut the latch post off where is was installed with cement then welded it back to the ground a few inches over. That is totally unacceptable when they built the fence on site! We had Dillon come back and walk the property with us to point out what was unacceptable. He kept siting CA fencing codes and not accepting his guys did a horrible job. He ended up having to put in a steel post to fix the one they cracked and tried to fix the cut post with a face plate. Today (6 months later) I was talking my puppys around the yard and heard boards moving. Upon investigation I found several boards not nailed into the frame- the nail line was several inches below the studs. I am absolutely heartbroken with our fence. This was the first big project we did to our first home and I regret using Alexander Fencer Pros daily as I find more and more wrong with the fence. I'm not even comfortable letting the dogs out alone as there are so many spots for them to escape...after paying $6,000!! I doubt it will last a few years. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

We both were extremely satisfied with the workmanship, professional staff (took time to answer my questions without giving the feeling that I was getting in their way), and quality of materials.
