In My opinion, there is no better place to buy quality meat then at Alexander's Prime Meats, Deli and Catering. Great selection of prepared items including soups, salads, and seafood. This is the old-fashioned butcher shop your grandparents talked about. Any cut of any meat is available. If they don't have it they will find it! Great selection of Kobe beef. The deli section has grilled items available by the pound or package. You can choose rare or well done. Always-fresh grilled items. I always have enjoyed their grilled tri-tip and brisket. The chicken and sausage are also favorites. Alexander's is located inside Howie's Market. It is very busy at times and you may have to take a number. I found that in mid-afternoon I did not have a long wait. Their parking lot is located directly outside the location. This business is worth a trip from anywhere to get quality and service not often found!

Another impeccable product of Broguiere's! If they establish a religion, i'd convert in a heart beat

Lovely meat and grocery shop. I didn't know what i'm looking for so i just choose randomly from the hot box. Grilled herb chicken - amazing! I think it will go very well with some rice or pasta Pork ribs - a bit dry, nothing special, but quite enjoyable Mac and cheese - passable Chocolate pie - nor a fan of the weak crust, the chocolate was alright. For a dollar ish, definitely a buy of i come again But Broguiere's! I'd definitely come back for Broguiere's alone.

Whenever I leave a 1-2 star review, I always make sure to go back at least 5 times and reconsider my rating after some time has passed. I think I've been back around 7 times now. I appreciate the gesture from Denise M, but I never ended up reaching out to the meat manager, didn't seem necessary. Since the incident detailed in my previous review, every consequent trip has been smooth sailing. No complaints. It's a very specific demographic who shop here. Can't say I fit in, but I do my best not to get in the way. I keep my head down and I'm usually in and out pretty quickly.

quality meats @fair prices make sure u check how much they try 2 charge cuz we usually pick up a whole slab 4 a bit cheaper price but last time they charged us $30/pound steada $26/pound glad we noticed cuz da difference woulda been $317 vs $275, as seen in my foto da butcher on hand said he didnt know this price difference & asked his manager, who also claimed a slab was same price ($30/pound) but another manager followed after we insisted we buyin slabs which cost less & that 2nd managed sided w us cuz we were inda right guess not many peeps buy by da slab or not like meat as much as we do ‍

    The meat counter!

Best. Salmon. EVER. Period. I'm so glad I gave them a try finally - definitely won't be buying my seafood anywhere else from now on!! I'll be trying their chicken and beef on my next shopping trip and if it's anywhere near as amazing as the salmon, I'll be hooked!! I've been searching and searching for a more local, fresh, natural way to get my meat as opposed to the run-of-the-mill grocery store meats you hear so many scary stories about - and Alexander's definitely fit the bill! Every item in their meat/seafood cases looked so fresh and amazing! A rainbow of vibrant and natural colors - and so clean!! I was very blown away with the appearance. So I bought a large fresh salmon portion. WOW - just wow! Words don't do it justice! My only regret is that I didn't take pics of it lol. After baking the salmon in foil covered with spices and lemon, it was thick, held its shape, and gently flaked away - it was flavorful and juicy and melted in my mouth like velvet - just incredible! I can honestly say I've never had salmon that amazing! Not from any other store or restaurant anywhere! So I will definitely be back for more and to try their other options. They have so much - they even have sashimi grade tuna! And Ahi and even high quality Japanese Wagyu!! Yes, they're definitely more expensive than the regular grocery store - but it's totally justified - the quality is there. And with the prices nowadays they really aren't that much more expensive anyway lol! Alexander's is located inside Howie's market - which is a gem in-and-of-itself! All the staff are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable and it's the cleanest store and meat market I've ever seen! Highly recommend!

Guest comments from the absolutely amazing Thanksgiving turkey that I purchased from the best butchers in town at Alexander meats: The best turkey I've ever eaten Moist, flavorful, tasty! Gorgeous! Perfection I'll always buy my turkeys (and meats) from Alexander's!

Tri tip sandwiches $9.99 each Left lower: potato salad $7.99/lb Right lower: curry chicken salad $12.99/lb

I've stopped by to the market to get some filet mignon for a dinner a couple of months ago. The filet mignon was to die for. So delicious!! I honestly wanted to try the tri tip sandwich that time as well but it wasn't a weekend so they didn't have it :/ This time I purposely stopped by for their tri tip sandwiches. It was a little confusing on where to order the sandwich because the worker inside said to order outside and the outside worker said to go inside to order. So in order to order the sandwich, head INSIDE the market, and walk over to the sandwich/sides section where they have the case for potato salads, pasta salads, etc. I ordered two tri tip sandwiches, a side of potato salad and a side of curry chicken salad. The tri tip sandwiches consists of a bun, a good amount of meat, and bbq sauce on the side. The meat was tender, had a nice smoky flavor to it. I appreciated how the bbq sauce was on the side so I can pour to my liking. The bun was just okay, I did wish it was toasted or something because it just mushed together with the meat and the bun was getting stuck on my teeth with each bite. For the cost of $9.99 for the sandwich, I would say it was decently priced for the taste and quality. When we asked what they recommended for sides. The worker just said "well everything tastes good". Which signifies to me that the worker had never tried any of the sides to recommend one. As for the sides, the curry chicken salad tasted good, it wasn't the best I've ever tasted. I did appreciate the freshness of the product and the grapes insides which were an added plus. It costs $12.99/lb, slightly pricy in my opinion. The potato salad was good. I'm not a huge fan of olives and there was a ton in the potato salad. I like olives because it added to the taste but only if they were chopped up so it was almost unnoticeable because the big pieces is a little too strong for my preference. The potato pieces were larger than I'm used to but at least the ingredients are fresh. The potato salad was $7.99/lb. Overall, I'd stop by again for the tri tip sandwiches and fresh meat but I'll pass on the sides.

Beach day + Malibu Seafood has become a tradition for me…read more A quick heads-up before you go: be patient. Parking can be tight, the line usually wraps around the shack, and everyone is hungry. But don't let that scare you off--the food is absolutely worth the wait. I've been here three times now, and one thing has never changed: the 3-piece fried fish and fries is mandatory. The portions are huge, and I'm calling it now... the best fish and chips in Los Angeles. The fish is unbelievably crispy on the outside, perfectly flaky on the inside, and fried exactly the way it should be. I used to order the fried seafood combo, which comes with fish, shrimp, scallops, and calamari. Everything is good, but the fish and shrimp are the stars, so now I just order the fish and chips with fried shrimp à la carte. One item that deserves way more attention on Yelp is the ceviche. It's ridiculously fresh, loaded with flavor, and served with crispy fried tortilla chips. Honestly, I'd order it every visit. The clam chowder is good too, but the ceviche steals the spotlight. The lobster roll is another surprise. I love Broad Street Oyster Company's lobster roll, but it's over almost as soon as it starts. Malibu Seafood's version is much more generous while still being packed with fresh lobster. Don't sleep on the steamed mussels either. Order a pound for the table and make sure you save the bread for the broth. That broth alone is worth coming back for. I always finish it off with one of their fresh-squeezed lemonades--the perfect pairing after a day at the beach. Seating can take a little patience too, but that's part of the experience. Grab a table overlooking the ocean and PCH if you can. Fresh seafood, ocean breeze, and flip-flops still covered in sand... that's Malibu done right. No reservations. No fancy dress code. Just outstanding seafood in one of the best casual beachside spots around. I'll keep coming back.

**June 2026: Saturday Afternoon Visit**…read more I regularly visit the Yama in Alhambra and usually pick up salmon, yellowtail, and tuna sashimi, so I was excited to try this Los Angeles location since it offers bento boxes. I ordered the Yama Sushi West LA Bento Box Classic California ($18.49) and also added a salmon nigiri sushi a la carte to share ($19.49) since I'm a huge fan. The bento box was more than enough food, and I even had leftovers, which made it feel like an especially great value for the price. The bento box came with a Yama California roll, a refreshing somen noodle salad, and a generous serving of hot chicken katsu making it a really balanced meal. Everything felt priced appropriately for the quality and assortment, and I appreciated that it offered a healthier, more diverse lunch option. The market has a couple of two top tables inside and outside, plus a clean bathroom, which made the visit comfortable. Parking was okay. They have a small lot available for patrons. Overall, I'd definitely come back for another good, healthy meal.

I made my way back to this location of Yama Sushi all for the Toro Scallion Rolls ($9.49). They are…read moreso good! I also found another favorite - Hamachi Rolls ($8.39)! The variety here is just so much better compared to the San Gabriel location. I felt that the Tuna Medley ($15.59) was a bit pricey for what it was and I don't recommend it. I came during peak lunch time on a Saturday and was surprised to find free parking in the parking structure just behind the shop. Service is great. They also have seating inside and outside. This is my favorite place to pickup sushi rolls from now on!
