This place is phenomenal!!! I was craving sushi but really wanted to try making my own, plus I wanted some of my favorites (halibut and yellowtail) which can get very expensive at a sushi restaurant. I found this place and drove 20 minutes and it was beyond worth it. The owner helped me pick out pieces and amounts and trimmed them up for me beautifully, and even threw in a free small piece for me to try! The place was clean and none of the fish smelled fishy at all, crazy fresh!! I ended up getting tuna, salmon, halibut, yellowtail, and scallop. I know I'm over the moon because where I live doesn't have fish of this quality, combined with the fact they've been in business since the year I was born (that tidbit sent a wave of glee down my spine!), tells me they that have maintained a level of unparalleled quality for all this time. The brick and mortar store is only open Thursday-Sunday, but they hit up several farmer's markets, from Ventura to Long Beach. I was hoping they do the Wilson Park Saturday market as I'm often in Torrance on weekends, but they did mention they're at Redondo Beach. I'll Google to see when that one is. Anyway, we knew we wanted to eat everything raw so we asked what they had that day that was sashimi-grade. We got scallops and salmon, everything being wild caught. Both were buttery, melt-in-my-mouth delicious and worth every penny. Easily the best scallops I've ever had. For the worst, check out my Coasterra review. :) I saw a lady put in an order for fish; the daughter of the owner calling around to family members at the farmers markets to ensure they could hold the fish for the customer. I loved learning that it's a family-run business! The shop itself was much tinier than expected. But, if you don't see something, you can ask about it because they might have it in the freezer. And everything, I mean everything was spotlessly clean. That amazed me because I used to work at a 99 Ranch and I remember there being blood on the cutting boards and I'd even come home with fish-stained clothes. In a sea of box-chain and over-priced speciality grocers in the area, this fish shop is a true gem. I'm all for supporting small businesses and I look forward to supporting them in the future. Their brick-and-mortar store is open Thursday-Sunday however they can be found at multiple farmer's markets around LA. I had the pleasure of dealing with them at the West Hollywood farmer's market (Mondays, 9am-2pm). They wowed me in every regard. SERVICE: They were efficient and friendly. They also really hooked me up. I didn't notice that they had a $20 credit card minimum so I was scrambling to find the cash for my $11 purchase. I had $9 left in my wallet (after buying a few other items at the market). They told me to just "pay them next week." Even after I told them that I don't live in the area, they let me have the fish for $9. It was really nice of them and I will be sure to pay them back the $2 next time I encounter them. PRODUCT: Fantastic quality. I bought a little over a pound of Alaskan cod. Cooked it with butter, herbs, and a little bit of flour on each side. It came out so delicious that I almost couldn't believe that I cooked it myself. It flaked in large, robust chunks. The texture and flavor were just perfect. SELECTION/PRICES: They had a large menu of fish and seafood. Good seafood is not cheap but they offered a few specials/deals including items that were $8-10 per pound. Update: the staff is always friendly here, and the seafood is still very fresh! Yes, the prices are going to cost more per pound than the most commonly known warehouse, but I can definitely taste the difference. They also sell sushi-grade fish, and the fish smells fresh and "not fishy". In the case you're not local to here, they also sell at a lot of local farmer's market too. We drive from Santa Clarita to Simi Valley just to get seafood from these guys. They are knowledgeable and friendly, and their fish is top notch. Everything we've purchased from them was delicious. Good fish isn't cheap, but these guys are priced fairly (for excellent fish) and I also got sand dabs from them for a REALLY affordable price and they were excellent. Love this place! They don't have labels or prices listed, but will tell you how much something is if you ask. Everything is super fresh and sashimi/sushi grade has others have mentioned. The family that runs the place is really nice and friendly and helpful. I have been to similar shops were they refuse to sell under 1 pound of fish or cut the fish for you into smaller pieces. No such problems here; they were very accommodating. I paid around $20 a pound for Alaskan King salmon both times I came here which is a super reasonable price for the freshness and quality (and actually cheaper to what you'll find for this kind of stuff elsewhere, at least in my experience). The salmon was wild-caught Alaskan salmon so you are getting sustainable fish, supporting fishermen and family owned businesses, and know you aren't getting any weird additions in your fish.The fish is so good that I just seared the salmon with a little bit of salt and it didn't need to add much else. I also bought scallops here a few years ago and they were the best scallops I have ever had. They are only open Friday-Sunday (they sell at farmer's markets on other days) and for now just have mostly fresh fish and a few prepared things like crab salad and lox. They also sell wine and beer. I was told they would start selling more cooked items in the spring so that is definitely something to check out once they start that. read more

Nice people & the seafood is good. But the business is disrespectful to the people of Simi Valley Valley. We only get fish that is leftover from their other business concerns. So you end up with few selections. Today they are supposed to be open at 11. No one showed up and they might be open at 3. How can anyone plan? It's truly a shame. You can believe what you want to believe about your store's performance. I can tell you I used to go every weekend but because of supply problems stopped. To think I go the grocery store over you gives you an idea of your lack of concern for your customers. If that is your business model that's fine but never say you service your Simi Valley customers first because that is a flat out lie.
