TLDR: At $350+ for a service, I believe clients paying luxury prices should reasonably expect faster responses and more professional communication. ### I received a gift card from a friend and wanted to book a facial. I reached out multiple times via email, website form fill, text message, and phone call but never got a response. I'm not sure this business is still operating. If it is she's not a good communicator. ### Update I wish I could amend or remove this review, but Alexandra's response leaves me no choice but to provide this update. After two days of silence I received an email from Alexandra saying my review was disrespectful, negative, and had "real impact" on her business. She also stated she would not move forward with me as a client. Had I received a courteous acknowledgment, I would have gladly amended or removed my review. For transparency: * I first called on Thursday (during business hours). * When I saw her website emphasized texts and emails, I also emailed during business hours. * After several hours with no reply, I submitted a contact form later that evening (after business hours). * The next day, still with no response, I both texted and emailed again during business hours. * After 40-41 hours of silence, I sent a final message and left my review. To characterize this as "just over 36 hours" and mostly after-hours messages is misleading. Over 40 hours with no acknowledgment is more accurate. For context, my emails, form submissions, texts, and calls were all met with silence. Her website lists no communication expectations and provides no automated reply. This situation could easily have been avoided with standard business practices. I was genuinely unsure if the business was even active, given the silence and the fact that the most recent Yelp review was from 2021. Even my friend who purchased the gift card wondered if it was still operating. Alexandra did process the refund for my friend, which I appreciate. However, my original concerns remain: * It was very difficult to reach her. * The email response I finally received was accusatory rather than courteous. * Her reply to my review was misleading about the timeline and tried to frame me as unreasonable. * Instead of repairing the interaction, she chose to cut off service. I'm leaving this review as an honest account so future clients know what to expect. To potential clients: don't be surprised if your messages are met with silence; they may eventually be read and answered, but without any acknowledgment in the meantime. To Alexandra: more transparency and professionalism would go a long way. In retrospect, I could have been more patient, and I didn't need to call out her communication as "poor" in my initial review. This place is beautiful and very peaceful. Everything is clean, and Alexandra is super nice. Her dog is also very friendly. However, I've been here twice for a Brazilian waxing. Both times, I left unsatisfied. The first time I was here, I was seen after another lady. That lady gave the waxer a small tip.. I'd say $7 or so. If it were me, I would have been mad too, I'm not sure if she was but it seemed to me like she was. Because of this, she was more brutal in her waxing. There were a few times when the wax didn't fully stick, so she repeatedly went over the same area to remove the hair. The second time I was here, was not as bad as the first time, however when I left the studio my skin had turned super red and had bumps on it. (It's normal, true and it eventually goes away).. but I've had waxes at several other places (because I always like trying out new places)..I've been to Mimosa in Hermosa Beach, Forme in Santa Monica, and most recently with Laura Addario in LA and it was never like this. One thing that bothered me, is that there is a huge window right next to where you're getting waxed. A huge window (*on the second floor) where anyone could see if they walked by on the roof. There's a very minimal probability of this happening but it's not very calming when your legs are spread open or up in the air for the world to see. Regarding parking, it's usually bad when you're going to Abbot Kinney in Venice.. but the times I have been here it was super easy to find parking. I'm toying with rating this place two stars, however I am going to give them three stars because I am all for small businesses and I really liked everything else about the place. read more

I came in on a Monday for a facial after seeing rave reviews from Alexandra Wagner on several websites / Magazine. I had the 60 minute signature facial with Andrea Galdamez. I have to say, the minute I walked up the stores I knew this was going to be my new place. Andrea was awesome. She listened to my skincare concerns and she chatted with me throughout the facial, we shared stories of our skin problems / eating habits and it really felt like just two friends having a spa day at home. She extracted some minor acne I had on the my jawline which popped out out of nowhere. This morning I looked fabulous. What I loved the most was that my face felt truly clean post facial. All of the reviews of people saying they were "makeup free" in the following days are always hard to believe, but here I am Cannot say enough good things about this place! Go see Andrea! I have been going to AW Skin Care for about six months. When I walked in, I was an emotional mess because I was so unhappy with the look of my skin. I can agree with the other yelpers who have said that your skin WILL look better after getting a facial here. I love Robyn-- she is sweet and friendly and knows her craft. Her facials were 175, where Alexandra charges 225 for the same treatment. I followed her advice (at least, initially) and followed a low sugar and mostly gluten free diet and my skin cleared up within a month in conjunction with the facials. This was a godsend, considering I had always been unhappy with my skin. I'm grateful for the fact that Robyn has made my skin look amazing, and Katrina, the newest esthetician is very sweet as well. Definitely worth checking out if you have the cash and have trouble skin, but be ready to spend $$$. read more

I am completely addicted to Alexandra's facials! I have been a loyal customer since finding her after moving to LA from Sydney, Australia 4 years ago. I had always suffered from bad skin, bad acne, argh! When I moved to LA I was pretty anxious to find someone good to help me keep my skin under control. It's not something you can trust with just anyone. I'm so, so, so glad I have Alexandra! Ile is seriously the BEST Esti I have ever had !!! Seriously and I've been getting facials for over a decade. As soon as you walk inside their cute little studio you feel a sense of relaxation . It super clean and Ile makes you feel very welcome . The table is also like your lying on a huge pillow is so comfy and snug. Alexandra cares, she really cares about you, your skin, your life. I am so lucky to have found her in my most desperate state. My adult acne had peaked and people would actually comment on my skin-strangers, out of kindness, but strangers nonetheless. I found Alexandra through yelp and thought instantly that someone who has all 5 star reviews would be a must see. I have now being seeing her for about 6 months, and my skin is so improved. Through her help I have realized that I have food allergies and changed my diet (losing 15 lbs along the way). She is skilled, confident and goes after every pore you have, cleaning it with so much skill and care. You see the results instantly, and they last. If you have problem skin, you really need to see her. I am amazed, and I am a huge fan. She is not only great at what she does, she is a great person. Easy going and so much fun! I went to see Alexandra the week before my brothers wedding. I had the most amazing facial & wax I've EVER had! Alexandra was gentle with the wax so I could barely feel it. Alexandra saved my face! I've been going to her for about a year and a half, after a year of searching for great skin care. I'm sure that most people think that facials are an unnecessary luxury. I'm sure that's how it is when you have perfect skin. In my case, well, it was more like a battlefield on my face...pre-Alexandra. The pain from the extractions are SO worth the outcome, and Alexandra dishes out minimal pain. No pore is left unexamined haha. I finally got to the point where I realized I needed professional help with my skin. I really don't like people touching my face so I was a bit apprehensive. I checked the Internet found a few places but noticed everyone had a at least 1 bad rating. I read Alexandra's and read great reviews and was impressed that she didn't have one single bad comment. Still apprehensive I made my appointment and showed up. That was back in 2007 and now several facials later I understand her rave reviews. I get her signature facial and yes a little pricey and she is a bit of a drive for me but when it comes to my face she I will not got to anyone else. Yes, all the reviews everyone writes are true. I get the facials with Katrina. She is great, my skin is looking so much better. It's really clear, smooth and even. She makes you feel very comfortable and she is very nice. I disagree with some of the remarks on Alexandra's personality. I met her and was very pleasant. And who cares? She famous for the facials she gives, not for winning an Oscar in Miss Congeniality 3. I agree it's a bit pricey but I think of my face as my first impression, so I don't mind shelling out some extra cash. I'll skimp on the less viewed services like a body wax. read more

I had been looking for a good place for good skin care for a while. I was sick of paying A LOT of money to go to Burke Williams when I didn't think the facials were really that good. So, my yelp search turned up Alexandra Wagner, and boy am I glad it did! I first saw her a few months ago and I hadn't had a facial in a long time. She completely customized the facial to my needs (which she does every time) and spent a LONG time with me making sure every part of my skin was addressed. The extractions were pretty intense, but totally worth it. And, she did microdermabrasion, which was great (and my skin needed it). I scheduled another appointment for a few weeks later, and have probably been back 4-5 times after that. I try to go in about every 5 weeks now that my skin is more on a "maintenance" plan. Let me also say that I've never had very bad acne, but my skin has always been sensitive and over the years has gotten dull and dry. My dermatologist has tried to treat occasional breakouts with clindamax and Differin, which really irritated my skin. So, here's the really cool thing about Alexandra - since I've been seeing her, I am no longer using ANY medication on my skin - just a gentle cleanser and good quality moisturizer and that's it! And I've gotten more compliments on my skin than I ever have in her life! Trust me, you NEED to go to her. If you have a skin problem, she will fix it. She may not fix it in one session, but if you make the commitment, you will see results! Plus, she's super cool and friendly and her office is light, breezy, and relaxing. I've been going to Alexandra for facials for years now and she does an excellent job every single time. She really cleans out skin to prevent breakouts and does a thorough job because she cares. I had to take 2 years away after a bad car wreck and now that I've been back seriously everybody has commented how great my skin looks. It's actually weird, to be honest, but that's how much radiant, clean skin matters. It's more important than a good hair cut or color. It really affected my skin's health and appearance in a bad way when I wasn't able to come in for those couple years. I believe it was 2009 when I first started coming here, and I've never entertained the thought of going somewhere else for a facial. Quite simply, I couldn't imagine a better place to get some TLC on my face. Alexandra always carries such positive energy and her second calling may very well be as a therapist. Pretty sure she knows just about everything about me, as she has this way of making you feel so at ease while making you beautiful :). I can only compare her to two other places I had been to before finding her, and it's not even worth a comparison. I loved my facial here. I like that alexandra emphasizes skin care products with natural ingredients, but only if they really work. I have sensitive skin, and I had no problems with any of the products. It took a few days before I noticed results, but they explained it's normal to have dryness immediately following. I think my skin looked visibly brighter and smoother in the following weeks, and I love the mask and zweena serum I bought from her. read more

As soon as I came in, she turned off the ringer on her phone - which was ringing off the hook since she'd just been featured on The Daily Candy - and got me started. The experience was great! She settles you on a comfy bed with a thick comforter and pampers you for 90 minutes straight. It was my first facial in nearly 3 years, so she had a LOT to do, but was super sweet about it and kept up a nice flow of conversation when I wanted it, & kept quiet when I wanted to zone out.
