Essentially paid $20 for my watch to be broken. Brought my watch in and when I got it back and water began leaking inside. I've showered with it everyday for 5 years without a problem, until I brought it here. Brought it back to have it dried out. The next day it is wet inside again, without being exposed to water again. I hadn't even washed my hands with it on. Also, when I dropped it off the guy said they'd replace the strap and that didn't happen, but I didn't have time to wait longer on the pickup day. Go anywhere else.

Alex was able to get my dad's vintage Girard Perregaux working again. My dad last wore it in 1987. It had just been sitting in its case since then as my dad passed away in 1989. I thought it was irreparable as other watch places said they couldn't do anything about it. Not only was my dad's watch fixed, Alex also cleaned it up. I now wear it all the time! I feel my dad is always with me while wearing his watch!

Alex brought my grandparent's cuckoo clock back to life! It had not run in many years and was pretty beat up. It now looks beautiful and we love seeing the little bird come out and cuckoo. Thank you for restoring something so special to our family!

I was referred here by a friend that is a watch hobbyist. I had an unnamed mechanical watch with an ETA 6497-2 movement that was losing about 3-4 minutes a day. Alex was able to adjust it. He is very friendly and the customer service was great! He quoted me before doing the work and I thought his prices were reasonable and the watch was ready the next day. Cash and Checks only. I wouldn't have problems having him work on my Omega or Girard Perregaux. Although he is located in the Ballard Fred Meyer Jewelry Department (3rd largest Jewelry Retailer in the US) his business is separate from the store, so they obviously trust him. My only other Seattle watch repair experience has been with Ben Bridge or Nesbit's (crème de la crème). If you're bitching about changing a watch battery, it says a lot about the watches you don't own & I wouldn't listen to those people for advice on where to go for watch repair or car repair for that matter.

Knowledgeable, competent, and fairly priced. I haven't trusted anyone else with the vintage Rolex my father gave me.

Fixed as promised. He is in demand and busy so don't expect a quick turnaround but does quality work with a warranty.

Terrible! It messes up my new wrist watch, all I wanted was to adjust the bracelet. They end up scratching it.

I stopped there to replace batter for my Armani watch. He asked $22 dollars to replace a battery, I thought it was expensive.

This is a wonderful jeweler's and I can attest to such, as a diamond cutter of thirty years experience.... I was not charged (even when I insisted) for polishing a personal piece of jewelry-

I took in a wedding ring crown that has 5 diamonds on it since I had lost one of the diamonds. Upon bringing it in, Josh let me know they could fix it and was already bagging it up without even giving a quote. I then asked for a quote since I'd gotten one from the original maker of the ring. I had let him know the quote he gave which was $390-425 was higher than what they quoted. But ultimately decided I'd rather have it fixed locally than send it out since I didn't want to wait (which I voiced verbally). He took a closer look and said they could do it for $425. I said okay because after shipping costs, it would only be ~$40 more than sending it to the maker. He said okay, and that he'd pick out the diamond today and I'd have it back the following week. 2 full weeks went by before it was ready so I was already a bit annoyed since that was likely the same turn around if I mailed it to the maker! But then when I went to pick it up, the price was $595+tax. I asked why the price difference (and refreshed his memory on our convo at drop off) and he just said okay we can do it for $495. So not only did it take just as long, but in the end after tax I spent over $100 more than what I would have spent if I sent it to the maker.

Grumpy, unhelpful, and rarely open…read more I needed a watch repair so I called multiple times and they never returned my call. When I stopped in, I pulled out my watch and the man grumbled and pointed at the woman without saying anything. The woman said she "doesn't do watches anymore." When I asked for a recommendation, she said she didn't have any. I live nearby and often walk past the store; they rarely seem to be open, even during their listed hours.

Jack K. Seattle, WA…read more Took my Beehive Seth Thomas Mantle Clock to the Ballard Time Shop. Donna, the woman working at the shop, said it needed to be cleaned and charged me $400. She also said that the former clock repairman had died, but she had a retired "engineer" that worked on the clocks, which right there was a red flag. I was told it would take two to three weeks to clean. It took five. When I tried winding it after I took it home, I found Donna had replaced my original brass key with a metal key made in India that didn't even fit my clock. Over the phone, Donna started arguing with me that she had given me the key I had brought in with my clock. When I returned to the shop with the clock and the metal key that didn't fit my clock, Donna tried claiming that the friend that was with me when I picked it up must have picked up the metal key from the counter. She would never answer directly what had happened to my key. She finally gave me the only key she said she had that would fit my clock. It wasn't my original one. As I was winding my clock three weeks later, a metal part dropped out of the the mechanism inside. Since then my clock doesn't chime properly. For example, it will chime four times when it is six, making a noise when skipping the other two chimes. At twelve, it doesn't chime at all. Supposedly my clock was only going to be cleaned. I suspect that Donna, or her "engineer" clock repairman, replaced the original mechanism with another. I plan to take my clock to another clock repair shop to see if I can get it fixed. I would never take it back to the Ballard Time Shop.
