Came in on a Wednesday 20 minutes before close to get a vintage Seiko resized. I wasn't sure how difficult it would be to find this place, but definitely super easy to navigate with all the signs and helpful reception desk on the first floor. Upon finding the office, I rang the doorbell and the owner came and answered pretty quickly and as I got in, I noticed there wasn't anyone else there which wasn't surprising given the fact that it was around closing. I had asked the owner about resizing my watch and how much it was gonna cost and it ended up being $19 after tax, which was pricier than I thought (which is the only reason I took off a star). However, after I had attempted to resize it at home (and failed multiple times doing so), I was honestly down to pay whatever price it took to get it resized since the watchband links were not the modern kind where you can just push out pins from the sides. The owner had to use some special tools and a little hammer to get the links off which definitely made me feel better about the price I paid. Ultimately I ended up waiting for maybe 10 mins max for the whole resizing of the watch, so it was super quick even with the owner checking with me multiple times to make sure the watch band fit my wrist perfectly before he rang me out. I appreciated his efforts in doing so and he was very patient and understanding the whole way through. Though it was only my first time coming, I would definitely recommend this place for any kind of watch repair or resizing :) Overall good experience for resizing my watch!

Picking up a family heirloom - my grandfather's pocket watch that u believe was his grandfather's. Cleaned and repaired! Thank you Jerry!

Highly recommend this business. Impeccable service and able to service antique time pieces.

    Fixed watch

Incredibly nice guy. He was able to fix my watch face and finally get a new battery in. He even set the time before I picked it up (only a week later! So fast!)

New band, price is right, and Jerry slapped it right on for free with purchase

Second review. Jerry is taciturn, exacting and meticulous. Also the price is right. He's fixed and updated many random watches for me over the last few years. I recommend him highly.

I walked in with a dead watch battery. I walked out with a working watch in 10 mins for a reasonable price. Don't ask just go to Jerry.

Jerry did a great job. Got my Father's 1960 Omega and 1966 Seiko working again. Also replaced the crystals.

I debated on writing this but the more I think about it, it just doesn't feel right so figured I'd…read moreshare to give others a heads up. No complains about the repair - they did a great job! I took in a wedding ring crown that has 5 diamonds on it since I had lost one of the diamonds. Upon bringing it in, Josh let me know they could fix it and was already bagging it up without even giving a quote. I then asked for a quote since I'd gotten one from the original maker of the ring. I had let him know the quote he gave which was $390-425 was higher than what they quoted. But ultimately decided I'd rather have it fixed locally than send it out since I didn't want to wait (which I voiced verbally). He took a closer look and said they could do it for $425. I said okay because after shipping costs, it would only be ~$40 more than sending it to the maker. He said okay, and that he'd pick out the diamond today and I'd have it back the following week. 2 full weeks went by before it was ready so I was already a bit annoyed since that was likely the same turn around if I mailed it to the maker! But then when I went to pick it up, the price was $595+tax. I asked why the price difference (and refreshed his memory on our convo at drop off) and he just said okay we can do it for $495. So not only did it take just as long, but in the end after tax I spent over $100 more than what I would have spent if I sent it to the maker.

Grumpy, unhelpful, and rarely open…read more I needed a watch repair so I called multiple times and they never returned my call. When I stopped in, I pulled out my watch and the man grumbled and pointed at the woman without saying anything. The woman said she "doesn't do watches anymore." When I asked for a recommendation, she said she didn't have any. I live nearby and often walk past the store; they rarely seem to be open, even during their listed hours.

Jack K. Seattle, WA…read more Took my Beehive Seth Thomas Mantle Clock to the Ballard Time Shop. Donna, the woman working at the shop, said it needed to be cleaned and charged me $400. She also said that the former clock repairman had died, but she had a retired "engineer" that worked on the clocks, which right there was a red flag. I was told it would take two to three weeks to clean. It took five. When I tried winding it after I took it home, I found Donna had replaced my original brass key with a metal key made in India that didn't even fit my clock. Over the phone, Donna started arguing with me that she had given me the key I had brought in with my clock. When I returned to the shop with the clock and the metal key that didn't fit my clock, Donna tried claiming that the friend that was with me when I picked it up must have picked up the metal key from the counter. She would never answer directly what had happened to my key. She finally gave me the only key she said she had that would fit my clock. It wasn't my original one. As I was winding my clock three weeks later, a metal part dropped out of the the mechanism inside. Since then my clock doesn't chime properly. For example, it will chime four times when it is six, making a noise when skipping the other two chimes. At twelve, it doesn't chime at all. Supposedly my clock was only going to be cleaned. I suspect that Donna, or her "engineer" clock repairman, replaced the original mechanism with another. I plan to take my clock to another clock repair shop to see if I can get it fixed. I would never take it back to the Ballard Time Shop.
