Best repair shop in town. Been taking my watches for years. He was in Fred Meyer now in downtown Kirkland. Much better location.

Shady character. Charged me $20 for a battery that died in 3 months. Don't trust this place.

$14 for a watch battery! Yowser. I'd hate to see what a real repair costs.

For the past 15+ years whenever I've needed a battery replaced in one of my watches, I've taken it to Rafael.

I had an absolutely extraordinary experience here today. SUPERB customer service. SUBERB. I came…read morein with a watch bought on Etsy. A "refurbished" Seiko Alpinist. $188.00, $50 in shipping, $34 in tariff fees, (thank you very little you know who). I knew it was a gamble. It gained four or five minutes per hour. I hoped an adjustment or some work could at least make the watch serviceable. Walked into ARC, no appointment. Kelsy greeted me, directed me to Masami, who stopped his work to look at my watch, he politely identified it as a counterfeit, and said he would adjust the watch (NO CHARGE) to make it as good as it could be. "Would you mind waiting 15 minutes, sir?" What, really?! While Masami adjusted my Fakeo, Kelsy showed me about ten watches that I liked, (an hour), answered my questions, had great acumen, demeanor, and professional poise without projecting attitude or qualifying me, treated me like I was the only one in the store, and confirmed a thing or two she wasn't 100% sure of. Excellent. I don't trust anyone who claims to know everything. I wound up buying a beautiful and very reasonably priced (less than $350 out the door) Seiko and identified another that I will buy in the future. IT GETS BETTER! I asked Masami if installing new guts in my Fakeo would be a good idea, as I don't care about the status, I just like the looks of the watch and want it to keep time. He said he could do that, gave me an estimate, and said that just buying the authentic model would be a better financial path for the long term. I agreed. Always buy the best quality you can afford. Also, as I was checking out, I saw a watch that was beautiful, but redundant, with respect to my purchase, and as I asked a question about the band, Kelsy, being honest, wasn't quite positive about the answer... So one of the store owners, overhearing, (sorry I cannot recall her name and spelling), came over and explained the details to answer my question! AND she interrupted an in person interview to do so! AMAZING. So, the price of an education in a field where money can chase unlimited ends was, for me, a value and a lesson learned for not a disasterous price. And, I found a business that I can TRUST, and recommend. Readers, this is where you should take your watch, engraving and timepiece repair needs. When my budget permits, I will be back at ARC WATCH WORKS to get an authentic replacement for my Fakeo.

The parts I supplied were not perfect and Sam was able to modify them so I could end up with my desired end goal. Removing the bezel from the duro is notoriously difficult, and some say impossible without damage to the watch but he was able to complete it (old bezel was bent but that's expected). Very happy to recommend their workshop but please call ahead to see if they are willing to accept the request.

When I stopped in, I pulled out my watch and the man grumbled and pointed at the woman without saying anything. The woman said she "doesn't do watches anymore." When I asked for a recommendation, she said she didn't have any. I live nearby and often walk past the store; they rarely seem to be open, even during their listed hours.

Jack K. Seattle, WA…read more Took my Beehive Seth Thomas Mantle Clock to the Ballard Time Shop. Donna, the woman working at the shop, said it needed to be cleaned and charged me $400. She also said that the former clock repairman had died, but she had a retired "engineer" that worked on the clocks, which right there was a red flag. I was told it would take two to three weeks to clean. It took five. When I tried winding it after I took it home, I found Donna had replaced my original brass key with a metal key made in India that didn't even fit my clock. Over the phone, Donna started arguing with me that she had given me the key I had brought in with my clock. When I returned to the shop with the clock and the metal key that didn't fit my clock, Donna tried claiming that the friend that was with me when I picked it up must have picked up the metal key from the counter. She would never answer directly what had happened to my key. She finally gave me the only key she said she had that would fit my clock. It wasn't my original one. As I was winding my clock three weeks later, a metal part dropped out of the the mechanism inside. Since then my clock doesn't chime properly. For example, it will chime four times when it is six, making a noise when skipping the other two chimes. At twelve, it doesn't chime at all. Supposedly my clock was only going to be cleaned. I suspect that Donna, or her "engineer" clock repairman, replaced the original mechanism with another. I plan to take my clock to another clock repair shop to see if I can get it fixed. I would never take it back to the Ballard Time Shop.
