Quick, affordable, and local! I took my watch to Watchworks (which apparently moved to Mercer Island) to get my battery replaced. I generally just wear my Apple Watch so this one was collecting dust, but when I tried to replace it myself, I dint feel confident and put the pin back. They were closed on Monday so I left a voicemail to confirm the service and just stopped by. Upon replacing the battery, she mentioned that there was a run missing to hold the watch strap in place and she offered to fix that as well for an extra couple bucks! I sat inside the establishment while we worked, and she got it all done in less than 10 or so minutes for under 40. It was rather pleasant experience, Would definitely recommend. read more

It's getting more and more difficult to find someone who could work on watches since people don't wear traditional watches these days. I am still wearing my old analog watch that I have to replace the battery every other year. We thought we would have to go out of the Island to find someone. One day, my husband found the Watchworks on Google and gave it a try. He was very happy with the work, and he recommended me to replace my watch battery here. I actually got my watch battery replaced in Japan during a recent trip, but less than a year the watch started to stop suddenly. It would restart again if I turned the knob. Until one day, no matter how hard I turned the knob, I just couldn't get it moved again. I came to the Watchworks. I told Karen that I might have got a battery of poor quality, and I asked her to replace. She immediately replaced the battery, but the watch still couldn't move. She started to examine closely and identified the problem was on the movement, not the battery. She explained to me that she would need to order parts to get it fixed and that it might take a few more weeks. Two weeks later, Karen called and informed me that the shipment she had received was not good, so she had to reorder, which would take a longer time. Another passed, Karen called me that my watch was ready for pick up. I went to pick up my watch. My watch now is working again! Yay! The price was reasonable. The battery replacement costs $20. The total for movement repair and battery replacement was $65 + tax. It's hard to find such a reasonable price these days. read more

We've thrown so many impossible tasks at Karen, and she comes through every time!! My husband's Ebel had a band that was no longer made. Karen helped me figure out how to locate some extra links, and then knew how to put them in so that the band still had perfect spacing. She's genius!! My Cartier watch never lasted more than a. year on a new battery. Karen replaced the battery and itt has lasted 3 years! She is so knowledgeable, incredibly honest and does perfect work. Excellent work. I shipped two watches, a Swiss Army and Timex. Both needed certified battery replacement for the water resistance. The Swiss Army also needed a band replacement as it was broken. I came by for a quick inspection of my automatic watch as it was losing power reserve. The lady (owner i think) was professional and courteous, and was not pushy in selling her service at all. This small watch shop, run by two nice people in a tight space, removed many links from a new watch and changed the battery on another. The entire process took less than 10 minutes all while we carried on with friendly small talk. They were interested in where I came from that day and how I found them (via yelp). Quick, reasonably priced, and nice customer service means this will be a place to which I return. TIP: They aren't a street level storefront. I've been using Karen's service for several years (10 - 15?) and have never been disappointed. She has serviced both Swiss Army and Movado for us. She is honest and professional and frankly I'm mystified by a couple of the comments I've seen posted. Good watches are expensive and repair parts as they get older aren't cheap and are often not readily available. (And I wouldn't expect to see a master watch craftsperson spending her time trying to punch holes in a used leather wristband - sounds like a serious misuse of resources to me and I think Karen quite properly referred that type of work to a leather crafter - although I probably would have punched a new hole myself with a Swiss Army knife!) Karen has gone to great lengths to keep a 25 year old Movado running perfectly and still looking like new! And I'm sure you will find that her services are delivered promptly and courteously. read more

Recommendation: NEVER use the Watchworks in Seattle!!! The bad customer service was astounding! They do not even deserve one star! The owner, Karen, was very rude and could not answer a simple question about the warranty coverage although I had all the warranty papers. She insisted the piece was twisted but it was not, and a another watch repair later confirmed it was not. She refused to listen to what had happened to the watch. I was shocked by her unprofessional behavior. It was unbelievable that she insulted me about bringing in my watch in a ziplock bag, imagine! I cannot recall ever encountering such poor customer service, how do they stay in business? When I asked for my watch back, Karen and her two employees laughed loudly like hyenas! Can you imagine anyone in retail treating customers that way. I plan to file a compliant with the Better Business Bureau and with the watch company for which they are licensed to do repairs. the WORST. i had called a couple of weeks ago and was told they could take a look at my watch and would do all they can to help. I called again yesterday and confirmed and walked 20 minutes to their 'shop'...i had seen some of the bad Yelp reviews especially compared to Jerrys Watch Repair, but decided to be loyal for some reason because i spoke to one of these people on the phone. as soon as i got there Julie had a particularly rude attitude and Karen sat silently and barely responded to my greeting. and then...they quoted me 285 dollars to fix my watch, almost 3 times what i was quoted previously and had thought was too high (and explained to them earlier), she made some snarky comment and aggressively gave my watch back and said 'sorry...can't help ya.' i walked to Jerrys Watch Repair (which i had walked past to go to this place) and he fixed it in 10 minutes for 20 bucks. nothing worse than people in the services business who are rude and dishonest. i strongly advise against anybody going here.. I stopped by thinking my battery was dying and they took a look, tested the battery, which they determined was at full charge, and then went ahead and cleaned up the contact and sealed it for me when closing it up. Came in to get watch battery replaced. Was told it would be 45 minutes, $40, and they would change the gaskets and polish the case. "But I really just want to have my the battery changed." No go. So I suppose my star rating depends on whether you want a place that cares what you want. I brought in my Swiss Army watch to replace a broken clasp. They were able to find a replacement clasp; the watch is at least fifteen years old. The watch was fixed within a week. I got a call when it was done and everyone in the office, including the owner, was pleasant and very professional. Absolutely terrible customer service. Walked in and was instantly made aware that I was an annoyance to the lady. I explained I had talked to another woman on the phone about my watch. She replied, "I have no idea what you're talking about. There's more than one of us that work here." I told her I understand and tried to explain my issue. The women who work here are wonderful. They are knowledgable and competent. I felt great honesty and integrity from them - and just all around friendliness. They replaced my battery on my Swiss Army watch and when that didn't fix it later (it was the movement) were happy to apply the money I had already spent replacing the battery to the cost of the new movement. They took a look at another Swiss watch I have that was running slowly. They cleaned the inside battery connection for free to give me a little more time before I'd have to have it fixed. Sent back a watch for a simple repair and was forced to replace parts that were working.... received the watch 3wks later and it was no longer keeping time (initially just couldn't change the date). sent it back and waited another 3+wks to get it back in working order. had to call the manufacturer myself in order to make sure parts were ordered/delivered. the owner was obnoxious, unfriendly and consistently changed her story! should have just bought a new watch! read more
