Went to Alfanos recently and I usually love it but the service was incredibly slow! We had asked our waiter to take a photo and he acknowledged that he would but had to take another tables order first. Not only did he do that but he also mixed a table side martini, delivered salads and took another order before coming back to our table. I was shocked! Another tables was delivered and eaten before we got drinks. They left before our order was taken. My sales was delivered without anchovies which I waited and waited to get. Our desert that was included in our meal sat in the back. I know because my ice cream was soft and melted somewhat. I can't even tell you how long we waited for our checks because waiters in general disappear when that time comes. Over 3 hours for a dinner for even 8 undemanding people is a little outrageous. Food was great tho but not sure if Alfanos will stay in our list as we go out a lot for dinner. Too bad! read more

9 dear friends , all Belleair neighbors went to Alfano's to celebrate an 89th Birthday tonight . Two dinners were sent back because they were cold, another dinner sent back because it wasn't tasty as it used to be (was told that dish was changed up ). I brought an $18.99 cake from Publix, "cheers"cocktail napkins, marble paper dessert plates and the waiter said there would be a cake cutting fee. I agreed "assuming" I alone would be charged the fee on my bill. All 9 of us were charged $3.50 plus tax to have the cake sliced ! Almost $34.00 to have 9 slices of cake totaling $54.99 to have a $19 cake. The Belleair ladies will now never bring a cake to Alfanos to share. 4 of them also paid for the dinner that includes dessert. read more

I've been here twice in the last three weeks, one time for a birthday celebration and a second time for a community dinner. It is apparent that the restaurant can handle a small group, but it appeared they were understaffed for the large event. The birthday party was under the lighted umbrella. The service was impeccable (Nick), and the food was very good. I had the pasta with meatballs and my guy enjoyed the best pork chop ever. For the large event, the chicken and salmon were served hot. The penne bolognese was cold, not lukewarm but cold. Here's where I agree with many of the reviews. Although the restaurant is very nice and the food is good, it is overpriced. I'm referring to the pasta plates in particular. The cocktails are pricey also, but it was shocking to be charged $27 for a tall double Tito with cranberry. The red sangria was very tasty. It helps that Alfano's has been around for a long time and has had the chance to perfect their trade. The restaurant has a nice clubby feel and comfortable atmosphere. Prices are fair for the high quality. I started with a house cocktail and it was quite nice. The Portobello & Peppers appetizer, recommended by the waiter, was delicious. For my entrée I had the Veal Chop Fiorentina. It was large and perfectly cooked. It's so nice to get a composed meal with a protein, starch and veg--2 vegs in this case--all excellent. Wine options are very good, if wanting a bottle. I would have appreciated better options for a full-bodied Italian red by the glass. I'll definitely be a return customer. read more

At first, our server, Jesse, brought the wrong bottle of wine, then we learned that the wine we actually ordered was not available. Tried to sell us a Chianti when we wanted a Nebbiolo. Gluten free bread=burnt toast, with bread that is available at any grocery store. Forgot our eggplant appetizer and claimed another server took it. I ordered the Veal Marsala and received chicken. Because Jesse never checked to see how our meal was, he was unaware that he'd brought the wrong entree until he asked if I wanted a box for an entree I never ordered. . Thursday evening I was at Alfano's with a large women's group for dinner. We were provided with a separate room and the service and food could not have been better! A woman at my table has food allergies and the waiter did not hesitate to help her. He quickly removed her plate provided her with a new one and also gave her a marvelous dessert! This is my favorite local Italian restaurant. The food is delicious, they make great drinks, everyone working there is super friendly, and the service is great. My favorite thing is the bar area and the little private rooms off the bar, it's such a unique little place. They have a great wine list, and I highly recommend the carpaccio, table-side Caesar, the linguine and clams, veal Parmesan, and the tiramisu is incredible, but really everything we've had is delicious. read more
