The ex-bf saw some Craigslist ad advertizing $99 tints. We set up an appointment for the first thing on a weekend morning. We're a few minutes early..actually, while we were waiting in the lot, an employee came over to us and asked if they were open. ?? ummm.. The owner strolls in about 10 minutes after their posted opening time eating a donut like NBD. The $99 only covers the rear, not sides of course; fine print. So $50 more. Asked about warranty info, we got something scribbled on paper. "We've been here 25 years; we're not going anywhere. " Not to mention there were no real invoices or receipts.. a'ite.. The tints came out pretty good, but there are bubbles on the rear. Oh, and on the driver's side window. The headrests were all removed and on the floor, and there were cut tint pieces all over. Razor blades were also left behind. Not cool in a car that transports young children. Verdict: You get what you pay for: If you just want tints on the cheapish and don't care about attention to detail, it's an okay choice. read more

I just reconfigured my yelp account which is why I'm writing the review now instead of when I got my window tint done from this place! Ok so back in February of last yr I seen a craigslist ad for $99 window tint so I figured well why not I'm close to it and wanted to get my windows done before spring. I set an appointment let work early to get to arrive on time at my appointment. Upon arriving I thought well the outside of the shop looks pretty good but once I stepped foot inside is when I second guessed my decision to let this shop touch my car . I went ahead and hot it done anyways which it turned out not to be $99 after all it was like $30 more which I said ok fine. After the job was done it looked great ( there was no snow on the ground at this time ). The nightmare started about 2wks later when the tint started to develope bubbles. I proceeded to call the shop the manager told me to come on in so he can take a look ( which was great ). Once i got off work I went there he looked at it and stated ok will will fix it ( LIFETIME WARRENTY ) BUT he tells me that " they fired their tint guy so his nephew is going to school for it right now so in about 2 months he will be a beast at it " and to come back then but says I'll have to pay for the cost of the tint. At that point I was already piss** off and decided I was going back to let them touch my car ever again! What's the point of a warranty if I have to buy materials due to their fu** up. They dont tell or show u how much is labor or price for the part they can easily charge for used part nd price you new part they show total amount on paper it's better to check o'Reilly or auto zone nd see how much is part nd check they labor nd see how much it adds up cuz after charging me 380 they found another problem with one of my caliber he told me it would be another 300 to fix first of all o'Reilly cost 115 but if u bring the old caliber u get 45 back but so what turned out to be 70 plus is 100 labor he was chargering me extra 130 even to fix it they also gave me breaks that had cracks that they replaced for me dont come here unless u feel like throwing money away stay away better get your part at o'Reilly or auto zone after they tell u what's wrong nd add up to there labor nd see if that match up with there labor nd parts read more

Absolutely the worst mechanic in Elgin. My mother has been going to this shop for over 20 years as a loyal customer and has been constantly screwed over and over by Eddie the owner. Just recently she went to get her car fixed to be good for her emissions test. Her service engine light was on and he claims that he fixed all of the codes that were lit up on the dashboard, but was never fixed. Claims to have the car done at a certain time but lies and made her lose valuable work hours at her job. For someone with this type of business practice should be shut down immediately. My mom paid $840 to have her car repaired but after all was said and done, the car was exactly the same way and condition that she brought the car in with. My mother called Eddie today and after explaining what was happening and how she wasted all this money for nothing, he hung up on her face. This is unprofessional, unacceptable and just plain wrong to do somebody like that. She spent all of her tax money on this repair when a promise was clearly broken. You have definitely lost a long time loyal customer and will make sure no one else goes either. Shameful business practices!! I needed tires and I shopped around until I drove by Alfaro & Sons Auto Center and notice a big sign that read Tire Sale, so I decided to stop and get a quote. I talked Jesse and I told him I was planning on only replacing the 2 front tires, so I could save some money. Jesse was very knowledgeable and explained that I could get the front tires and wait another year to replace them. After he gave me a quote on the front tires and was not pushing to get all 4 tires replaced, I knew he was honest and very professional, so decided to asked for a quote on all tires and I was sold because it was best quote I've gotten! Happy customer and will return for more business and I highly recommend Alfaro & Sons Auto Center. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I trusted this guy for years. Boy was I naive. They got me for 2 transmissions on a Honda Civic, stole my catalytic converter and rewired it so it'll pass emissions( pretty smart), unplugged my A/C wire and said it was the compressor, My new minivan went without A/C for years cause I couldn't afford $1500 for a compressor cause everytime I turned around one of my 3 cars were in there for something. I took a chance on another mechanic and he pointed out that my compressor worked fine, took him several hours to trouble shoot that it was a wire under the dashboard that had been disconnected, he also showed me how they rewired the O2 sensor. Since I've been using my new mechanic I have saved thousands. No more transmission problems, fixed my A/C, amongst other things. Never trust these guys. They play the friendly part as they screw you over. These are horrible people that should close their doors. Never again. You've been warned. read more

I went to get Tints on my car for 5 windows. Looking at my car 3 feet away or further looks great. But if you look close about 2 feet or closer, you can see so many small bubbles on the tints. There are around 10 bubbles each door windows. And rear windows just look terrible when you look close. So many bubbles on them looks cheap! They charged me 140 for it. They told me don't worry they will not make any bubbles. It was getting dark when I got it done. And that week it snowed a lot. I couldn't see the bubbles until that following weekend where it got over 40 degrees and decided to wash my car. Front right corner of the window, I rolled the window down and film came off. I rolled about half an inch down and rolled back up. Rear right side window is making a scratch noise only for 1 inch and rest of the way rolling down is fine. It did not make that noise before tint. I went back to tell them about the problem but they said they can't do anything about it. The guy named David told me he will charge me to see the scratching nose on the back window and leave the car there because they are busy that day. I didn't wanted to do that and I didn't even argue with them. I will ask them one more time over the phone about the so many bubble they made, I will leave another comment here tell all of you what they have said. I won't say 140 dollars was wasted but the job they did was maybe worth 50 dollars. read more
