I was…read moreon the tollway, going with the flow of traffic at about 70mph, when I suddenly heard an awful, terrifying, loud metal screeching sound coming from my car. When I was able to exit the tollway & pull over to a safe side street, I looked at the under carriage & found that the metal skid plate that covers & protects the underside of the engine, had come loose & was dragging & scraping the pavement. Knowing that issue creates dangerous sparks & other problems I decided to call AAA. Lucky for me, the tow truck driver suggested Charlie Car Care, and took me & my SUV there. The staff took my car immediately, reattached the skid plate with new bolts, and had me out of there in under an hour! Their price was very reasonable! I expected to pay 3-4x more, so was super pleased when they told me the price. The waiting area is nice & comfortable too. In addition to all that, the staff is super friendly. Madeline and Moises are excellent at customer service. Just like the other reviewers say...they are really professional & very friendly. All the staff members deserve 5 stars! If I lived 40 miles closer, I would definitely go back again. I HIGHLY recommend this business anyone that needs help with their vehicles.

Steer clear…read more I brought my truck here to have a complete RevMax transmission kit installed because they told me that they could do the job and were familiar with the transmission on my truck (first lie) I was quoted around 4 days and a thousand dollars and when I called, the owner told me that they would take care of everything so I could get my warrantee from the manufacturer, this includes checking line pressures, clutch values, and some break in miles after re flashing the computer. After two weeks I was told that it was ready, and paid my bill of $1690. When I asked them about all of the pressures etc they hemmed and hawed and told me that a dealer needed to do that because they can't but everything is fine. They literally left me in the parking lot with a very NOT okay transmission. I brought it to the dealer who found fault codes and numbers that were way wrong. (Second lie, it was NOT fine, they didn't take care of any warranted stuff I specifically asked about. 3rd lie, they didn't even have the tools to check the pressures, let alone reflash the computer like they said they had) So, I brought the truck back and for the next 4.5 weeks I called and asked about it and kept getting stories about how nobody could figure it out. Finally they had another shop reflash the computer (which they said they already did, but did not) and the transmission started making pressures that made sense but still were far from right. So, I picked up my truck and brought it to a friend who is a mechanic. He had all the correct scan tools to work on the truck, and him and I were able to get the transmission running correctly after a long day's work. So, I was lied to about them being able to do the job, over charged, lied to that it was done right, lied to about what had been done, and in the end I had to call in a favor and fix it myself because they couldn't figure it out. I just hope that during the whole process they didn't seriously damage any hard parts in the transmission. I had a really terrible experience here.

The car was so mangled and not only did they get me back on the re the next afternoon, they also took me for a test drive to make sure I felt comfortable and taught me how to steer without power steering. I asked then to put 4 new tires on and he just kept saying he was looking for a used one. Well when I got home-my insurance filed it a complete loss-and I would have been out those tires. They could have taken the job and money but they did exactly what I needed to get home. I was scared, stranded, and needed help and they felt like family. I may move to Elgin just to be near such an honest, wonderful, hard working and smart group of people. They save lives in their own little way, one automotive job at a time and if you need anything-please make the efforts if near to even get your oil changed. He calls the next day to lie to my face and tell me that it is the blower motor(which was incorrect) that because it is a newer vehicle I could not get an "aftermarket" part. This was most likely done because I was a woman. Paul didn't realize I was raised by my dad who is a mechanic. So I finished the call with Paul playing the "damsel in distress" begging him to save me. I then hung up the phone and called autozone. When Autozone confirmed they had the aftermarket part in hand for 50% less than Paul wanted to charge me, I called Paul back Initially, Paul ate crow and agreed to install the part I purchased. But of course wouldn't guarantee the work. I said, It is a simple install. The part has a lifetime warranty its fine. So I dropped off the part. Paul of course was nowhere to be seen. The mechanic grabbed the part and walked away. Paul was quick to call me up as soon as I turned out of the parking lot to tell me the part was wrong. I told him I would be picking my car up. I walked in, they had supposedly my blower motor(from my vehicle) on the counter next to the one I purchased, however, it had an extra piece protruding from it to make it look different. I told them to give me my car and it escalated into a screaming match. They were going to charge me 149 to diagnose after giving me a 488 total charge which included parts, labor and diagnostics. Luckily Paul's temper got the better of him(he didn't like being called out for his lack of integrity). He said he didn't want my money and I waited in the parking lot for over 30 minutes while they"put my car back together" Hey Paul, it wasn't the blower motor you moron! Don't assume every woman who walks in the door knows nothing about cars. Integrity goes a long way in life Paul. Chalk it up to a lesson learned and do better next time! Be blessed!
