Red flag when a mechanic gets offended by questions and won't give a detailed quote. Thought I would give Jose a try, as the John Deere service center was extremely busy. Jose gave me a verbal 'not to exceed' and I trusted that, so had my operator haul our tractor all the way out into a remote piece of acreage used as a yard. I kept pushing for the written quote and when I finally got it, it was extremely vague , parts abbreviated, not priced out, etc. So when I dared ask specific questions, Jose told me we would not be doing business, as I had a 'trust issue'. Picked up my machine took it to the John Deere mechanic after a week of down-time with Alfaro. Attached is my trust issue...top estimate from Alfaro, as you can see some parts abbreviated, unspecific and not priced out. Bottom estimate is a snippet from the John Deere mechanic; very specific, parts priced out. I redacted the address and total so as not to be too nasty, but there is a price difference of thousands of dollars between the two companies. read more

Been using them for years now, and I love the honesty and fairness I get with them. Like everything, there is good and bad news on my units, but I always get an explanation of the repairs and the charges and have never felt in any way taken advantage of. I love Jose's direct approach, but some people just can't take it. He has never been rude, but yes, brutally honest, and I appreciate it. Straight to the point. I remember when it was just him, and now to see there are people he brought on is great. His guys might not speak perfect English, but they get the job done, and that is what matters to me. I called Alvaro Equipment Repair and was very happy he would go the extra mile to get your equipment working. I have a bobcat 3500 tool at and I told him from the beginning I had a repair book that he could look at. His comment was that good mechanic don't need a book to work on the equipment. He distroyed my steering shaft under his instructions he had me an my worker banging the steering shaft with a sledgehammer which he charged me to take to his place to reseal the shaft. $1200. He came to install the shaft but realized that it was to mess up from banging the shaft. I kept telling him to look at the book which he finally did and only took him an hour to get the shaft out. when I kept telling him he needed split the gear box to get it out. He he finally Didi it was the way the book said to and was able to get it out in an hour. From him banging and distroying the shaft. We had to go buy a new steering shaft at $1400 .He then install the shaft backwards that took4 hour and the bobcat would only turn one way. He realized that he put the shaft backwards and redo everything all over again. I was so happy that it was finally done ,but when we went to use it he left the hydraulic hoses hanging without tying them down. So you can imagine what happened next. The tire gripped the hoses and tore them all up. I called him up and he said he would be here on Monday morning. When I called him he hung up on me and would not take another call from me. I called them and they apologized and said if I wanted to go to Tractor Supply and get a new chain they would reimburse me.. I said I will just bring it back. I drive back 45 minutes and the guy behind the counter asked if I was done with my job. I said the saw wouldn't cut and I showed him this photo I took. He said " Well we cut some wood with them before they go out and the chain was sharp. Besides , if you hit the ground one time the chain will be dull!" I said I didn't even use the saw! They did hesitantly give me back my money. But I am done with that place. If there gonna call me a lier? I will never go back there again!!!

T & T had it Tuesday afternoon(they do not start working until 4pm), Wednesday and Thursday and told me it would need to stay the weekend to get a couple more days to figure out the problem. Every time I talked to the owner there were more and more things wrong with it. They said the brake was cracked in 3 places, the welds on the bottom of the trailer were broken, the wiring needed to be completely pulled and redone. They couldn't figure out the 6 pin plug so they switched it to an RV plug. I went and picked it up tonight because I had a gut feeling this was going to end up being a tsunami of cost with all the things they were saying was wrong with the trailer. This is a 4 horse HART aluminum trailer. Only used for gymkhana's a couple mile from home for a couple of years. It came home tonight, way worse than it was taking to them. They charged me $1050 - $250 for each side of the trailer to repack wheel bearings. And $600 for their diagnostic of all of the horrible problems they kept finding. They fixed nothing on the electrical except to switch the plug so the brakes on the trailer stuck and I could move the trailer with their plug hooked to my truck. This was an absolute nightmare. I used to go to T & T to get all my maintenance done. I did not know it was sold. I wish I has known. I am so glad I got it out of there before the could charge me even more. Oh, and the owner kept telling me he had picture of all the problems they found but showed me NONE of them.
